All current 360 GwG are BC. As fuji stated, claiming the 360 game version still adds it to your library and you can dl it to your X1 or SeriesX.

FYI, most claim the 360 GwG version to make sure the license is added to their library. There is a question as to whether claiming the MS webstore version will just give you the license to play it as long as you have a gold sub. Basically, acts like the GwG for the X1. There have been some that claimed they added they MS Webstore GwG version to their library but when they tried playing after their Gold sub expired, it wouldn't let them. Claiming the 360 version will allow you to play even if your Gold sub expires.

If it really matters to you, here's the MS webstore version.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

If you have the physical disc, is there any possible reason to get the digital, even if cheap? I want mostly digital and this is 360 bc, MW3. But disc. I don’t use discs so can just stay there. But no difference at all, right!
Its now $19.50, but no reason, correct? Info have every other digitally.

Yeah, I figured, but that suits me. I just thought less fallible with digital.

I have read a few articles where MS is looking at a possible Xbox app for tv to use without a console. How would this work with games running up to 8K. TVs don’t have the power. Also, wouldn’t the streaming be ridiculous on us with caps?

Streaming.

Broadband Now estimates a little under 16 GB per hour for 4K gaming (Google's estimate is higher, at 20 GB), while Netflix estimates 7 GB an hour for 4K streaming of movies/TV. It's a lot, but you can get a traditional console if streaming isn't a viable option, and I think most providers upsell an option to not have to deal with data caps.

I know streaming but it just seems like a lot of data will be used and some folks may cap out their limits pretty quickly

First game was Psychonauts 2. Second game was Flight Simulator. Third game was "I need to find more time to play video games".
Wasn't super impressed with the performance of Flight Simulator. Very slow and choppy. I was surprised that it didn't perform better TBH.

Yeah quick resume is fantastic and Psychonauts loads super fast. I may not use it much before Halo Infinite and FH5 come out.

Happens to me, too, but only if I have more than two or three games on quick resume.

Interesting. How do you not have games on Quick Resume? Do you just have to restart the console? I could try that and see if performance improves.

I also found a brand new Xbox 360 flight stick in my closet (from an SE of a WWII air combat game I must have grabbed on clearance but never opened, natch. I wonder if it will work with this system.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

A question about the Xbox Series X...

Has the availability, demand, amount released each week been about the same as PS5?....just releasing a few here and there and being snapped up in minutes?

i guess the other part has owners been overall happy, surprised, letdown....on scale of 1 to 10 how has it been?

Reason why I'm asking is...as a current PS4 Owner...and still have XBox 360 but not a XBO...I haven't been really impressed with Sony's actions this year; skipping all the Game Events, a pair of highly touted exclusives with Horizon and God of War have now been bumped to 2022....they're response to upgrade some games from PS4 to PS5.....they got rid of Communities in PS4 which had to be the dumbest move....they're rolling out Director Cuts of Games which is nothing more than a Game of the Year with upgrades meant for PS5 owners...and the latest with a new PS5 version that's lighter but they cut back on the cooling system. And a lot wonder what else is or might be changed and cut later on...Scalpers have already increased prices of the launch model due to this...

So my 1st thought was looking for a PC but chip prices, shortages and demand are going up, not down. A recent story said Nvidia's Supply might take a -30% hit this month.....and now some in the industry said this might last into 2023. To get what I can spend and around middle of the pack performance, $2000 is about it. I even chatted with Corsair on their pc's asking who makes the Video Cards and they said it changes based on availability. Solid system but it's almost same with other parts and forget about building one unless money is no object....

I just checked Amazon for the heck of it and a New XBox Series X ...scalper price...runs about $850...which honestly I could do. I'm just more concerned about the Chip Shortages, Demand and Price Increases might start to make it more expensive and harder to find. One of the reasons I'm thinking of XBox Series X or PC is Game Pass and Bethesada especially Starfield not to mention future Fallout and Elder Scrolls. I just really haven't kept up with the XBox Series X....so I wanted to hear from...The Other Side....thanks...

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

From what I've seen, yes, they go live on certain retailers and are snapped up quick. The XSS is easier to find, but I didn't even consider getting that one.
I was lucky to have gotten one XSX pre-launch, and another not too long after launch (I overpaid a little for the second one, it was a retailer bundle, but hey, at least it wasn't from Buy-Rite). I wouldn't pay scalper prices just on my personal viewpoints but I can see the appeal.
I really enjoy my XSX. I had a 360 and a One. I traded in the One. The XSX plays faster, smoother, Quick Resume is awesome, so is Game Pass. It's not a game-changer (pun intended) in terms of hardware but it makes playing games, and trying games new to me, much easier and more fun.
I had heard the same about chips, and of course that may affect the consoles as well. I briefly looked into getting a new PC, but by default I lean toward console/couch gaming so that's my bias. And PCs were suffering the same supply chain challenges.
I'd give my experience an 8, 8.5. The only two things I deduct points for (excluding marketplace/availability/pricing things) are the lack of true next-gen titles or exclusives, and the large price of the official external SSD card. I do have a 4TB hard drive that most of my games are on, but XSX games have to go on the SSD, internal or external.
The Bethesda relationship is a big win, and there are lots of games on Game Pass that I wouldn't buy but that are fun to try. And some that I may consider buying if they leave before I finish them.
Gaming is a little different now - MS and maybe the industry as a whole is moving away from "Gen5/Gen 6, it's done, move on" to gaming generations that have much fuzzier edges. Which is not necessarily a bad thing, it's just different. I know in previous generations I felt a bit left behind if I didn't get the new console soon. I haven't really followed what's going on on the Sony side, if their philosophy is similar.

They definitely get snapped up exceptionally quickly, but I do feel like I see the Series X available for sale much more frequently than the PS5. Checking the Microsoft Store around 6 PM (Eastern) on Thursdays is one way to go. They don't put them up at that day/time every week, but they seem to more often than not.

I have both a PS5 and an Xbox Series X. I think my approach with multiplatform games will generally be the opposite of where the previous gen started, with the XSX being my primary console and the PS5 reserved for exclusives (unless there are games that perform better on the PS5, have exclusive content I can't resist, or take compelling advantage of the DualSense). I'm still rooted in my ways enough that I like to have physical copies of games, but I'm finding myself taking advantage of GamePass more and more. Being able to suspend/resume multiple games is pretty incredible. Smart Delivery and their version of cloud saves are massively improved over what Sony's duct-tape-and-bubble-gum equivalents. The more expansive backwards compatibility is pretty great; even playing something like Gears of War 2 in 4K, with Auto-HDR, and advanced filtering makes it look many years more recent a game than it is. Since they didn't start from scratch this generation, the Xbox's UI is much more intuitive and seems better thought out. Even after nearly a year, I still don't know when I'm supposed to hold the PS button on the DualSense or when I'm just supposed to press it once, and even common actions like turning off the system are needlessly convoluted on the PS5. And as much as I love all the amazing haptics of the DualSense, I do find the regular ol' Xbox controller more comfortable to hold.

The biggest downside on the Xbox side of things is the lack of really compelling exclusives, which, after all these acquisitions, should only be an issue for so long. (Although "soon!" has been a talking point for how many years now?) But because the PS4 is still being so heavily supported, you'll still be able to play most of Sony's first-party titles on your current PS4 for seemingly a while to come, so you won't necessarily be missing out on much near-term (with exceptions like Returnal, the updated Demon's Souls, and the new Ratchet and Clank). But the sheer volume of what's on Game Pass helps to take some of that sting out.

But yeah, I feel like at the end of the day, the dilemma is "Xbox Series X = massively better ecosystem but few games you can't play anywhere else; PS5 = compelling exclusives; poor services/ecosystem/practices to the point of near-contempt for their users".

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

As you probably know I'm a launch PS5 owner who recently got a XSX as well. It was pretty hard to get one. I have no idea if it's harder than getting a PS5 because I haven't struggled to get one of those. But it wasn't easy. It took me several tries. Like PS5, MS does sell some directly, but unlike Sony, they don't send an email offer no matter how loyal you've been to their company. So it's hit and miss. But by following Twitter feeds and checking here and CAG, I was able to score one from Walmart after about a month of trying, and then it took them another month to ship it to me. I once had an opportunity to get a bundle from Costco, but I didn't want the included game so I passed on that.
From my brief experience with the XSX so far it's better with :
1 : Transferring your game saves and upgrading to the XSX version. This is something that the press makes a big deal about with the PS5. It's much easier to go from last gen to next gen versions of games on the XSX. It's not as impossible as the press seems to think on the PS5, but it isn't nearly as intuitive. This wouldn't really be an issue for you since you don't have an XO anyway. Maybe if you get some XO games that get upgraded.
2 : Game Pass. This is HUGE. Having all these big exclusives at launch available for free is beyond amazing. I have no idea when I will ever actually buy a XSX game again (more on this later). That you can have all their amazing AAA exclusive games at launch this holiday season without even buying them is just phenomenal. Even if some eventually leave, you could probably find them cheap on sale by that time if you continue to want to play them. And I think you're safe with the big first-party games staying on GP permanently.
3: Quick resume : The ability to start back up again is really nice, and to be able to switch between games makes it way, way better. Especially considering these are GP games and you don't need to get up and switch discs. You can basically "channel surf" between games and that's an unbelievable thing that is impossible on the PS5 (which is a real bummer because if any game needs it, it's Returnal),
4 : Bethesda : Moving forward, having this enormous, important studio as an Xbox exclusive is going to be so big. There will undoubtable be some enormous, important games coming out that would have eventually forced me to buy an XSX console even if I wasn't multi-console owner every generation (as I have been). The must-have exclusives are still a long ways off though.

What's worse :
1: Controller : I know I harp on this but for me it's really important. The PS5 controller is a totally unique experience. It's so cool. It really feels next-gen and totally changes the experience the way you can feel the resistance of an accelerator, the bumps in the road, the tension of a bow being pulled back, the feel of a gun getting jammed, the slosh of water shifting in a boat. I could go on. It really does intensify and totally changes the way a game is perceived and it's something I just can't imagine that MS doesn't address during this generation. Dual Sense is so much more than just rumble. It's the reason that when I have a choice of third-party game that I want and isn't immediately coming to Game Pass (ie Life is Strange : True Colors, Far Cry 6) I will choose it for the PS5 every time.
2 : Proprietary Memory cards. I don't think this is as big a deal as others. It has the huge advantage of having a slot to plug the card into. But it is only one card and it's pretty expensive. It is readily available though. The ones for the PS5 (which is now only expandable in the Beta, which I missed out on) is way more complicated. Not too hard, but certainly more difficult than plus it in the slot in back. You can buy any third party card that matches the specs for a PS5 and can buy a 2GB card if you want, which isn't yet offered for the XSX. If you shop around, you can get a good PS5 1 GB card for a little less than the MSRP of the XSX card, but it's not a huge price difference.

What's subjective :
Interface : I think, and this is just personal opinion, that the PS5's interface is better this generation, at least when it comes to using the system as a media streamer. It has a completely separate section for all your streaming apps to scroll through. Using their Media controller is pretty simple and easy (though the HBO Max app doesn't FF and REV very well at all). Things can be a jumbled mess on the XSX if you don't carefully curate your apps. There is no Games/ Apps division to scroll through like on the PS5. Basically the interface is identical that on the XO, for better and worse. That said there is a LOT I would improve on on the PS5's interface starting with the terrible way party chats are done now, which is totally counter-intuitive.

I don't think you would go wrong with either one. A lot depends on how you feel about SOny exclusives vs MS ones. And I might add that you seem to be harping on Sony for some not-very-big deal things. Moving a AAA game from Nov to Feb? For a system you don't yet even own? I think that's a minor complaint. Lack of appearances at game shows? They're having a huge showing on Thursday.
Also the PS5 will be coming out with a hugely revamped VR system that I think may be amazing. And we know Sony is good about supporting this new tech, even in the case of the PS4 version which didn't sell very well. They didn't walk away, they worked to improve it and support it. I don't know what MS plans are for VR, but I think it's safe to say that they're well behind Sony for plans this generation.

Unless it's changed from what I read when it was first announced the lighter PS5 is only for the non-disc console so it should still be the same design for the disc console version. I will eventually get a PS5 but don't know when since most of my gaming is on the Xbox.

It's been mostly miss trying to get the X Series for me. I did have a chance to get the Halo XSX Console but I decided not to. I'm still able to play all my games on my original X1 so there is no reason to get the Series X let alone pay scalper prices.

Re: Xbox Series X - 11/10/20

For me personally I'd rate the Series X a 6/10. Too similar to the XONE. The UI and interface is still bad. My least favorite out the 3 controllers (Dualsense & Switch Pro) I assume this will change with all the studios they are buying up but at least now nothing really is a must play exclusive on it. Most of the things people are mentioning as huge benefits are meaningless to me (save transfers, upgrades, quick resume). I don't need multiple game resumes and I already have had suspend on the PS4 and the PS5.

Okay but can you at least acknowledge that Game Pass is a tremendous value? I imagine especially for a gamer like you who likes to seek out the more obscure and lesser-known indie titles. So many games that if you're curious you can check out risk-free.

Oh it's definitely a tremendous value for most gamers. Me personally I don't get that much use out of it. I don't care about checking out games risk free. Every game I start I go in expecting that I'm going to play to completion so I almost never just play a game to check it out. Once they start having some of their big AAA games on it that I'm interested in then I'll get more value out of it. For smaller indie games I'm interested in I'd much rather buy the game to support the developer.
