Heroes: Season 1

Nowhere near the Bay Area, but I found the Blue Submarine box here, and have seen Cowboy Bebop 6 at a number of stores. I haven't seen the Gidget collection or Sin City in almost a year, when everything first started showing up.

This is probably the best deal I got for TV sets, I may not be that familiar with Anime but alongside Heroes and Firefly I grabbed Season 1 & 2 of Zentrix? and 2 copies of Batman and the rest are all regulars.

Great find Xage! I've been looking for the Batman serials -- with no luck -- since they started appearing at Big Lots. Are there any more left?

I found one with at least 6 Mementos. Does anyone here still want one?

Modesto, CA

The possibility of scoring Heroes or Firefly for $3 really motivated me to hit my local Big Lots today here in Central California.

On my way home from work I hit the Modesto westside store first, which hasn't had any good DVD stock for months. But today they had an endcap full of fresh titles. Picked up for $3 each:
Mr. Deeds (widescreen special edition)
Blue Thunder (special edition)
and lo and behold...finally....
Batman (complete 1943 movie serial)

Continued on to the eastside store by my house which also had new stock. Picked up:
Ali (the director's cut)
A League of Their Own (special edition)
A River Runs Through It (deluxe edition)

They also had loads of other $3 titles like Memento (limited edition two disc set), No Mercy, Casualties of War (extended cut), Urban Legend, Dean Martin Double Feature, Body Double and Lords of Flatbush (most of which I've already obtained).

No sign of Heroes or Firefly, but I'm happy to finally find the Batman serial.

Man, you guys are luckier than you know. My local BL has - so far - never stocked any of these (and I drop in every day on the way to work).

Ah, well. Maybe they'll all be there tomorrow. Yeah, that's it. They'll be there tomorrow.

Majority are new and sealed...probably all of the ones you're reading about in this thread. Some Big Lots stores will have some DVDs with a 'previously enjoyed' sticker on them.

Still alot of anime in my area today, just updated the other post:
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showpost.ph...&postcount=776

also still lots of Sony restock, spotted Batman and Memento, and plenty of the other stuff too. Nothing too new lately.

Also the Zentrix sets are available for $3 here too, seems like a decent deal if you buy from a regular online retailer, cheapest price online looks like it's around $25. And if you go to Amazon, their price is $39.99, BUT you can get them from marketplace sellers for like $10 shipped, so looks like these have been around the block for a while.

From what I've seen, the majority are brand new, sealed. Previously viewed titles will be indicated with sticker.

My two local Big Lots restocked but it was pretty much the same stuff. Tho I did snag the only copy of Growing Up Brady that I never saw there before.

I'm curious if there are patterns or reasons why some areas are not getting certain items that others are. Big Lots seems to organize their dvd stock in assortment numbers that go along with the upcs. This is only good for stores that are using the newer registers and receipts, there may still be stores around the country that still use the old system, I'm not sure.

Around here in NH, all the stores have the new registers and the receipts list the upc of the dvd and the assortment # it is from. These pairings of upc number and assortment# appear to be consistent, so I am wondering if different parts of the country receive different assortment numbers, and if it varies, etc...

For example anime, lately I have seen three different assortments:
Anime Assortment #9,10 & 11

Have people in other parts of the country seen different assortment #'s in their area as opposed to mine, or are they the same assortments with different contents?

I put together a list of what I've picked up lately and which assortment it is from, along with it's related upc. What do you guys have in your area?

There's either an extra "O" in the sentence... or a missing one.

Is the restock from the 2nd Sony restock or have they made a new one?

BL has the weirdest distribution system. Ft Lauderdale and Miami are adjacent cities, 25 minutes apart from each other and it took like 3 more weeks for the Sony titles to arrive to FT Lauderdale.

So far I've seen

1. BF Sony stock -
2. $4.90 titles (Dead Zone, A Diva Christmas, PBS titles)
3. 2nd Sony restock (3 weeks ago in most places. CA this week)
4. Anime restock (about a week ago)

Is it to late to call "bullshit" on the $3 "Heroes"?

I found a copy of S-Cry-Ed Anime Legends 3 Volume Edition Vol. 2 for $2 at one of the Big Lots near me. Does anyone know if volumes 1 & 3 can also be found at Big Lots (tried searching this thread for S-Cry-Ed, but I always get no matches)? I'd love to complete the set for these prices.
