Not only will this be the last I place in the summer sales, this will be the last order I put in for DVDs period*, until the Nov. sale(s). The amount of stuff I own that hasn't been watched yet seems...shameful.

I got a 6/10 order on the 16, only Rescue Me S4.
My big 6/6 order came a few days later.

I'm still waiting on 2 big 6/11 orders and small 6/12 and a 6/13.

I'm not complaing it all, just pointing out
You're right, this is the first time the sale has run for nearly the entire month.

Personally, I think it's DD not getting the sales they expected due to a combination of poor economy and many people just not ordering much from them anymore. I can't speak for everyone, but I no longer make the purchases I used to from them because I got tired of their poor customer service, and I used to be one of their biggest defenders around here.

I know this has been mentioned before, but this is really this best deal going right now. Buy.com has their blu-ray's through deepdiscountdvd. The prices already reflect the 20% discount going on at deepdiscountdvd. Use google checkout for an additional $10 off!

It's for new users only, but I used 2 of my other email addresses to sign up with no problem, and both orders shipped today. I got No Country for Old Men for $9.86 and Black Snake Moan for $7.71. Free Shipping, No Taxes = $17.71 for 2 great Blu-rays. Can't beat that deal.

The international shipping charges killed it for me.

I just picked up all of the remaining Godzilla flicks DD had (that I didn't already get 2 weeks ago).

$13.49 Destroy All Monsters / Gamera (double-feature)
$9.66 Godzilla vs the Sea Monster (aka Ebirah, Horror of the Deep)
$9.66 Godzilla vs Gigan
$9.66 Godzilla vs Hedorah
$9.66 Godzilla vs Mechadodzilla II
$9.66 Godzilla: Final Wars

Then, I threw in the much-anticipated cleaned-up, Dolby 5.1 soundtracked version of Xanadu (incl soundtrack CD) that was released today (thanks DD for extending the sale one week!)

$14.34 Xanadu: Magical Music Edition
------
$76.13 Subtotal
(15.23) 20% Off
$0.00 Free Shipping
------
$60.90 Order Total

My Godzilla collection has gone from zero to twenty-five, leaving me only with the following holes:

3 - King Kong vs Godzilla
13 - Godzilla vs Megalon
16 - Return of Godzilla
17 - Godzilla vs Biollante

Plus, I get the original 1968 version of Gamera, and I get to drool over ONJ on rollerskates.

Not a bad day!

My order from June 5 (1 Blu-ray) still hasn't shown up. I got the shipping notice on the 6th. This is what has kept me from buying more from them -- the shipping sucks, and you have no way to track it.

I only got Weeds S3, which was on backorder. I thought about getting more, but the titles I wanted were cheaper on amazon even with DD's 20% off. Plus, their service isn't the greatest too.

Same here. My order was shipped out on 6/9 and still hasn't arrived. I was planning on placing another order but only if the first one shows up before the sale ends. This is the third 20% sale in a row where my shipping time has taken longer than the 5-10 business days

DD has a lot of faults, but if your order has shipped and hasn't shown up then it's the fault of the postal service and not DD.

Ordered one more, thanks to the extension... "The Hammer", starring Adam Carolla, which I saw during its blink-and-you'll-miss-it NY run. Good movie, and a steal at $12.69.

Am I the only one who's fine with how long stuff is taking to arrive? It's free shipping. You get what you pay for. Most of the discs I bought in this sale were things that had come out since the last sale anyway-- if I've waited two months to buy it, I can wait two weeks to get it.

You're not the only one. I can't imagine complaining about it. If it takes 6 weeks, I'm cool with that, for the same reasons you cited. I waited months for the sale to pick up some stuff that I can't find anywhere else (new) for less, so I can wait another couple months to get it delivered for free. I don't think DD's making that much money from my purchases, so no whining from me. But I guess I grew up in the age of mail-order and "Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery."

I've placed over 30 orders with DD over the years and this is only the second problem I've had with them. The first time they fixed the problem quick so we'll see how long it takes them to fix this one. The CS Rep. on the phone was helpful and sent the prepaid return label within minutes to my e-mail so I could put the wrong DVD in the mailbox today. So far so good but that can easily change.

I don't mind waiting for free shipping but when USPS states on their website the average time for delivery is 2-9 days for media mail they should be held accountable in some regard if everyone is receiving their packages past that average window.

30 used to be the number of orders I would make in about 2 months, since I was ordering for myself and for re-sale to people that were afraid to put their credit cards online.

I just started having too many problems with poorly-packaged discs and especially problems with price-matching.

First order (3 items) placed on 06/04/08 and shipped out still has not arrived. 2nd order placed on 06/11/08 and 2 of the 3 items have already arrived. The third item is still back ordered. Plus I am tired of listening to the post man complain about the boxes he gets from DeepDiscount. He can not scan the delivery confirmation #. He has to manually type them in.

Anyone get a phone call/message from DDD today? I got home and there was an automated message saying that the sale has been extended until the 29th, blah blah blah...

Yeah, I got that too... Annoying.

Got my second order today (shipped 6/6). Thankfully they combined two orders so I only have one to go (a backordered item).

Wow, I just received my orders from both DD and DVD Planet that were placed barely a week ago. With all the delays happening, I'm surprised everything came so quickly.

Ironic that it's been taking 2 weeks minimum for anything else I've ordered from them this year to arrive.
