their shipping takes an embarrassingly long time, free or not, but i appreciate their gesture of extending the sale. as long as the prices stay low, i'll keep shopping with them.

This is as fast as I've ever seen their shipping.

The first order I made with DDD was on the 9th and I've received 3 shipments to California already. It's about 10 days from when they say it was shipped to my receiving it.

It's good your getting them quickly. I've been ordering from them for years and always received my orders within a weeks time but this sale that's going on now, they must have put mine on a barge or in a basket and float them down river. They started shipping mine out on the 6/06/08 and I'm still waiting.

Yeah I got my e-mail too.
That would have been a great bargain, and I do like Rohmer, and this would have been dry nourishing content to balance out all the sweet junk food that's dominated my orders for this sale. But to be honest I've got such a huge unwatched pile, that this would have taken me a long time to tackle.
The net price was killer, but it's probably just as well (for me, that is).

I had a similar incident. I placed an order on the 5th, it shipped on the 6th and I've yet to receive it. I called today and was told that according to their info, it should have arrived around the 18th. The CSR took the liberty of shipping out a replacement for me.

That's total bull. There is no way that the 6 Moral Tales box was discountinued by Criterion. They are just trying to weasel their way out of honoring the price.

My thoughts exactly... was wondering if someone would express the same opinion.

It's for new users only, but I used 2 of my other email addresses to sign up with no problem, and both orders shipped today. I got No Country for Old Men for $9.86 and Black Snake Moan for $7.71. Free Shipping, No Taxes = $17.71 for 2 great Blu-rays. Can't beat that deal.
Thanks for the heads up. I opened two new Google checkout accounts and picked up Casino Royale Blu-Ray for under $10 and SNL Season 3 for $25.

Pretty much, since DVDPlanet and Amazon still list it as available.

Hopefully anyone that had their order canceled raises holy hell with DD if the item conveniently shows back up as in stock once the sale is over.

Total BS about the Rohmer set...

One thing I can say, DDD has really cut down on the # of titles they carry.

It appears that Buy.com is discounting all dvds sold through Deepdiscount by 20%, even preorders. I ordered Mad Men season 1 Blu-Ray for $17.08 after the $10.00 google checkout coupon. The SD version is also discounted.

I got 3 orders yesterday. One of those had 4 movies in a bubble wrap envelope :/ That's the first time I ever got movies shipped from DDD in anything other than a cardboard box.

Those were shipped on the 13th (one movie), 11th( 5 movies), 11th (4 movies).
I'm still waiting on 1 disc from the 13th and 4 from the 19th.

4 discs arrived off the spindle but undamaged.

DVD Planet has the set 'regularly' priced at 35% off. With the 20 off sale, the net cost drops down to 45% off- which is right in line with 95% of the inventory available in these sales.

If someone specifically was looking to purchase this set prior to the sale, then 45% off IS a great bargain. OTOH, I was looking to take advantage of a percieved bargain first, with the actual desire for the content secondary.
I loved the Comedies and Proverbs cycle. I'm less familiar and more aprehensive about some of the titles here. If I wasn't, I would pounce on the DVD Planet price now and consider that a 'great score'.
And as I mull it over the next 5 months, I may plan to do just that in the November sales.

I guess the flooding is hurting the shipping

We do apologize for any delays, as we were notified from the USPS that many post offices are closed and re-routing deliveries. This is due to the Midwest flooding and the surrounding areas. Many of the transportation routes have been affected as well. Our facility is located in IL, just outside of Chicago, and is an affected area as well.

Nice catch. Looks like the 20% off is working for 7/1 pre-orders. Just ordered Mad Men and Point Break.

That doesn't explain why shipping has been this slow for most of the year, but oh well.
