From my experience, Disney movies are seldom on sale and when they are (and the sale is good), it's best to break them off majorly, since there isnt a guarantee the exact same movies will be on sale or if the terms of the next sale will be as good.
If I didn't already have Sleeping Beauty, I would have jumped all over that deal. I've left my featured selection alone for the minute, there is a note about "order your featured selection and 1 other title and get free shipping" so when I have some time I'll be testing it out with a different Blu-ray that I want.

The 3 for $60 appears to be dead, Blu-ray sale prices are now listed at $25. Glad I grabbed the 3 I really wanted on Sunday.

Cool deal. That 3 for 60 was a great deal, especially since their SD movies are never that cheap. I touched them on that sale for six BDs.

Im just pissed that Disney is waaay behind the BD curve with so few of their movies being available on that format. Not to mention, they brought The Little Mermaid out of the vault and didnt BD it like some punks. So now, I have to wait 10 years until they bring it back?! Bad business for a company known for it's innovation.

At least they made up for it (slightly) with the Pinocchio combo BD/SD. As long as they keep doing that with future releases, I'll hate them for their lack of BD catalog a little less.

FYI, Sleeping Beauty was a BD/SD combo, too. And a REALLY impressive release overall.

I'm actually surprised at how many "Grown Up Hits" they have on Blu-ray in the club. It's kind of surprising how far behind the curve they are release-wise, considering how big of a Blu-ray supporter they have been.

Although the (much better) 3 for $60 deal is dead, the two for $25 Blu-ray sale does kick in free shipping on the order total (I believe). It also counts as the buy one if your deal is buy one, get additional titles at 60% off. This allows additional DVD's priced at $29.99 to be purchased for $11.99 with free shipping.

Didnt know Sleeping Beauty was a combo release.. guess that makes my 3 for 60 purchase of it extra worthwhile lol.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Are you guys saying that the Sleeping Beauty Blu-ray offered through the club was the 3-disc version that included the regular DVD?
The site only ever listed it as a 2-disc Blu-ray, and never said anything about the SD DVD included.
I still haven't picked up Sleeping Beauty, and was interested in getting the 3-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo. Is it really available from the club?
And what's the story on Pinnochio?
I have an email from them that advertises a 2-Disc Blu-ray/DVD combo for Pinnochio. SO is that true, and is that what's available from the DMC if I switch to Blu-ray as my preferred format?

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Disney has written the item description a little oddly for both Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio. The main listing simply states that it's a 2-disc Blu-ray release. But if you read the fine print on the home screen, or look somewhere like Amazon that does a better job with item descriptions, there is a "bonus" SD DVD included. There is only one release of each of those titles, so ordering the 2-disc version really gets you 3 discs. Unlike, say, Wall-E, where there was an official 2-disc version and an official 3-disc version, with disc 3 being a digital copy for about $5 more.

Although, now that I look at Pinocchio again, I'm not sure it's a 2-disc Blu-ray release. Whatever it is, in this case you'll get the same item from the DMC that you would from Amazon. 1-2 Blu-ray discs plus an SD DVD.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

I assumed (always a mistake) Disney was cutting corners, and wasn't including the DVD with the set available from the club. Since I didn't do a lot of research about it, I thought the 3-disc general release set was probably just for a limited time. They don't list it as a 3-disc set anywhere on the site, as far as I can find. Also, and I'm going by memory here which may not be correct, on the old DMC site a couple months ago, I think there were more details in the listing, and I believe it specifically said it was a 2-disc release, so I guess that was a mistake. Or, they were trying to be very careful to not imply that you were getting 3 Blu-rays in the set. The entry in the listing was probably generated from a database that could contain only one value, with no special notes. As a result, I never ordered it, and I would have liked to back when it was the Director's Selection (or whatever the DMC calls that).

And I can't access the Blu-ray listing for Pinnochio at all, so I don't know what's up with that. As I said, though, the email about Pinnochio lists it as a 2-disc set that includes the SD DVD. I think they mean that the 2-disc DVD has been released as a 1-disc Blu-ray, so the 2-disc combo set gets you the 1-disc Blu-ray and Disc 1 of the 2-disc DVD set, which probably has only the movie, with no (or basically no) special features.

Thanks a lot for the info, meglet!

I wish I had Bobaray's offer showing in my account. Mine shows only a 25%-off additional after buying 1 at regular price. I'd like to get the Sleeping Beauty/Pinnochio 2-pack Blu-ray set, and then get 60%-off Dr. Syn and free shipping.

I *think* the double feature set would qualify as 2 fulfillment credits. If so, good deal! If not, still a decent deal, I think--especially if you get some other decent purchases at 60%-off.
Maybe I'll call them and see if I can get that deal. It doesn't show under my "Other Offers" page (nothing there at all).

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Cheato, if you change your format to Blu-ray, you might be able to get the Pinocchio/Sleeping Beauty double-feature featured title on Blu for $50 with free shipping. My offer is listed when I go into the Featured title page.

I'm having issues with the Pinocchio Blu-ray listing myself, their site seems to be all messed up. I think you're right that Pinocchio is 1 Blu-ray, 1 DVD. I'm not interested enough to order it anywhere right now, I'll pick it up from the club sometime when it's on sale just to complete my collection.

The 2 for $50 banner only shows up sometimes, but there should be a red "Blu-ray Sale!" at the top of the left hand column that will list the titles for you. They have helpfully already put the $25 price on anything that is eligible.

Ok, now I'm going to go do some actual, real work.

Edit: or just run to this deal for both movies from Amazon, posted in the Bargains forum, probably a price mistake: http://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-bargain...98-amazon.html

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

^ Thanks for the heads-up on that!

It's actually a *slightly* better deal to get them from the DMC as fulfillments, since the final value in a 7:2 account works out to $24.67 for the pair.

Pros and cons to both. Looking at the upcoming Director's Selections (according to Ultimate Disney's forum): High School Musical 3, Bolt, Bedtime Stories, Beverly Hills Chihuahua, ... I don't see myself using them to fulfill anytime soon.
I often use DS that I want to get free shipping to kick in.
And I do want to get Dr. Syn, but I want to pay $12-15 for it, not $30. But it might sell out before a nice sale code rolls around that enables free shipping and provides a 50% or 60% discount.
OTOH, I was thinking about ordering a MicroSDHC card from Amazon already...

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Hi, I'm new to this Forum and a new member at Disney's club thanks to the 7/2 code someone posted a few pages earlier... thanks for that.

I got my confirmation email so that's all set but the order still says "Processing" on the web so it still says I have 4 purchases to fulfill my obligation, rather than two. I'm assuming once they ship they will update that for me. I'm hoping that's how it works.

Anyway, sinch I'm very new here, and since Pinochio just got released this week in the stores, I'm curious how long it would likely take before that's available on the club for purchase. I'm assuming I can use that as one of my $19.99 or more to fulfill my obligation so I don't want to purchase it at the store.

Thanks for all the tips and info you guys post here.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

As I said in post 884 above, that was how it worked for me once. I had already received the enrollment selections, but my credit card hadn't been charged so the site still showed I needed to purchase 4. A couple days later, the charge went through, and suddenly the site showed I only needed to purchase 2.

Probably just a month before Pinocchio shows up in the club, and my guess is it will probably be $21.95.

If you are willing to be patient, a free shipping sale will probably happen at some point, so you can get your fulfillments all at once, possibly even with other good discounts on other things you may want, like Disney Treasures or club exclusives. Also keep in mind that the DMC is a little different from Columbia House in that free shipping has historically applied to box sets, too.

Actually, the 2 for $50 Blu-Ray sale has Free S&H on it. Pick any 2 of the $25 BRs & get Free S&H on the entire order - doesn't matter titles (animated, grown-up, etc) (sets?) - just so long as they are marked $25.

Yes, but Pinocchio is not part of that sale, so the SB/Pinocchio double feature has it's own free shipping promotion, if you get it from the Featured Title page.

Also, it looks like the discs from last weekend's 3 for $60 count toward commitment, so the $25 BRs should also. I've already completed my commitment, but the 3 titles I ordered at $20 had the little mouse commitment indicator anyway.

I got this email as well, although I didnt read it thoroughly since I already have what I want of their current BD selection. Does the 10 dollar deal expire?

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Looking at the DMC site right now.. Here is a deal thats not advertised as a deal..

DMC is selling a Pixar Easter Gift Set at 59.95 which includes Cars, Wall-E and Ratatouille. THAT is a frickin steal.

Edit: This set is BD (thus, making it a steal).

With shipping your total comes to $65.90. Currently the three titles included are $19.49 each on Amazon for a total of $58.47.

Well obviously if you need to fulfill your commitment buying from DMC is the way to go, that should go without saying. I was just pointing out that there is a slightly better deal available otherwise.

I actually think that purchase only counts as one, since it's being advertised and sold as a set. But it is what it is - a good deal for some, a so-so deal for others and for me, a tidbit of information to share, since I already have all three.
