I actually downloaded Firefox just for the purpose of seeing if I could get into it that way. It failed.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

The "home" page appears to be working correctly for now. I tried yesterday from work on a XP test VM w/IE8 and just checked at home with Firefox 2. Both worked OK.

On a completely unrelated note:

Am I the only one who's irritated at the current practice of listing *all* titles with a "Now: $xx.xx" price in red with the *true* price greyed and striked out? It wouldn't be bad if this occurred once you've placed a title in your cart but it's that way all the time! I got excited at first because I thought "Wow, some of the Treasures have dropped in price! Now's the time to buy/fulfill!" but got dissapointment when I placed the title(s) in my cart as the "Now" price is *only* after you've made a "qualifying purchase"!

Yes, it's been driving me crazy ever since the new site went up. I hate it. It was one of the first things I reported here back when I was moved to the new site early. I incorrectly assumed at the time that it was a programming mistake and would be changed. I thought for sure that they would get many complaints about it--especially when they have 50%-off sales and $150 items are shown as being $75. Up until you put them in the cart, that is.

Id DMC as easy as CH to return an unwanted directors selection, or is it best just to eat it and move on?

It's easy to return an unwanted selection. If you haven't opened it up yet, just write "return to sender" on the box and put it back in your mail. The one catch is that DMC will not refund the shipping.

Cool thanks, I haven't opened it. Looks like it's Tinkerbell, I think I'll just eat the shipping. I'm sure my daughter would watch it...but yeah.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

They got me on the Jungle Book 2. That taught me to regularly check the DMC site for the featured selection, since they seem to have a new one every 3 weeks.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Does any current member of DMC know if the Treasures title, "Disneyland, Secrets, Stories and Magic" is still available? I recently fulfilled my club requirements and cancelled, but I'd like to join again, and mainly to get my hands on a copy of this title, since it's out of print and selling way above what I want to pay for it. Before I cancelled it was still available from DMC, and this was after the regular stores had gone out of stock. Thanks!

Damn looks like they're out of Dr Syn. I knew I should have jumped on that as soon as it came up.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Thanks for the list Cheato! That helps alot, I may still join since it looks like they still have a few other rare treasures I'd like to own.

I just went to sign up and noticed that a lot of the animated classics aren't coming up in search (101 Dalmations, Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast, Peter Pan, The Rescuers, etc.). Are they back in the vault or just not available as initial selections and will be available once a member, like the Treasures? Anyone know about this?

We got that, too, and the funny thing is my wife insists she declined it online in plenty of time. That's not the only title we've gotten that way, though at the moment I can't recall which one it was.

The Rescuers (and TR Down Under) is available for enrollment.

101 Dalmatians (with 3 a's, no o's) and Jungle Book are available through the club, but not at enrollment. (The live action 101 Dalmatians is available for enrollment.)

Beauty and the Beast and Peter Pan are in the vault IIRC.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Ok thanks! Did a search and found that Jungle Book and Beauty and the Beast are still in stock at Amazon and other online retailers, so I didn't think they were in the vault until you said they were.

BTW is it just me or is Disney getting really cheesy with their enrollment selections? Almost no classic animations, and almost no classic live-action movies (Apple Dumpling Gang, Computer Wore Tennis Shoes, etc.). In fact, there's very few options period, whereas a year ago I was able to get all kinds of good stuff. Oh well, it's still a great deal so I guess you can't complain.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

A few months ago, they changed their website, and then a couple months ago, suddenly all the good enrollment codes were disabled. When they came back, the enrollment selection had been cut back quite a bit.

Also, the enrollment selections change quite often. I have about 20 DVDs on my buy-list for the DMC, and once every few weeks I check what's available for enrollment, and almost every time, I have gotten different results. A couple of them drop off the list and a couple of them are added to it.

If you want to know what's in the vault, what isn't, and what's scheduled to be, then check out UltimateDisney.com. There's a reason that's the name of that site.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Hey that's good information to know. Maybe I'll wait a few weeks and see if the selection improves, because right now I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel to find even 4 selections I want.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Hello,

I just got an offer to purchase 3 blu rays for $20 each. This is above the 19.95 threshold but the terms and condition said that discounted movies does not count toward purchase commitment.
Is it true? Anyone has experience buying discounted movies and count toward commitment?

Regards

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

As has been said many times in this thread (I encourage you to read back a few pages to learn some of the ins and outs of the club), historically, discounted titles have counted, even though the club says they don't. I have cycled my account a few times, and I have always used discounted titles to fulfill: $40+ sets at 50%-off or $30 titles at 25%-off.

How'd you get this offer? Through an email? Had you already upgraded your format preference to blu-ray?

I just upgraded and got my email for the $10 blu-ray but would love get to three for $20 each. Why does this stuff only get offered to some people and not others?

Also, is there anyway to predict what the upcoming featured titles will be?

^I *think* this was a offer in a monthly mailing. One of those where you have to use the reply card (or other included page) to get the offer. I have a vague recollection of seeing it but as I don't purchase blu I ignored and tossed it without giving it a second glance.

They do not count. I called and spoke to a Cast Member because I was hoping they would count and I could fulfill my account, but she said they do not. I pressed her on it, saying that the terms state that a qualifying purchase must be $19.95 or higher and these were $20. But she said they didn't count. So I emptied my cart.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

As has been said many times in this thread, the Disney Cast Members ALWAYS say that discounted items do not count. They ALWAYS say that because that is the policy. However, in the past, they have ALWAYS counted toward fulfillments. Is it possible that they won't this time? Of course. I don't want to advise someone to try it if they are depending on using them to fulfill. However, you can't take what the DMC says as being true in this case. Historically, they have been 100% wrong about it. As far as I am concerned, there is still 0 evidence that they won't count as fulfillments.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

I also got the 3 for $20 each blu ray offer. I bought 3 of them and my account is now at "Fulfilled" status. Also, I got 3 blu rays that aren't even Disney movies (I don't think). I got Apocalypto, The Lookout, and Enemy of the State.

I just upgraded as well through the website since they offer me $10 blu ray to upgrade. Turns out they sent me separate email for $10 blu ray and 3 for $60 blu ray so I buy 4 for $76.95 with shipping. All 3 counts toward commitment when I checked 1 day after they shipped the order.
$10 blu-ray selection is scarce though.
They must be getting better with the processing speed.
I probably will cycle the account now.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Stevai, did you have to do the mail-in to get the email about the $60 blu-rays or did you just get the email after upgrading?

Does anyone think I'd have any luck calling the helpline about getting this offer? Could I say that I missed the mailing or perhaps mention that I had just upgraded?
