Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

The 7:2 code is still working, I just recently placed an order using that code and a few days later was approved, probably would have been sooner but it was a weekend, and the 7th title you pick does indeed count toward your commitment, it said that before I placed the order and it has updated it under my account, I now only need buy two more titles at regular price, not a bad deal at all.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Thought I'd let you guys know, as I'm sure some of you may be unaware of this policy:

A few months ago, I returned a defective selection, and for whatever reason, they credited my account rather than just replacing the item. I didn't spend the entirety of that credit, and now they've sent me a letter stating that I have a merchandise credit, meaning that I have to select a title from the list they gave me. The titles on the list are commonly in the 3 for $30 sales, or I already own them. Some specify that they are Fullscreen, but the Widescreen version isn't listed (Chronicles of Narnia, National Treasure, Eight Below, Haunted Mansion). Best of all, the credit expires in 60 days. So, I have 60 days to choose a DVD I don't want, or I lose my money.

I just spoke to a CSR who said she could do nothing over the phone. My only option is to mail or fax a letter to them.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Bedtime Stories Blu-ray is currently a "special offer" until June 1: for 24.95+shipping, you get the Blu-ray, the digital copy, and a standard DVD plus a 3-D card.

In addition, if you buy Bedtime Stories plus 2 other movies, you get free shipping. If you're really lucky, the free shipping offer might stack with the B1 get 25% off Blu-ray offer.

Edit: Either Sin City Blu-ray counts as 2, or Bedtime Stories as my Featured selection resulted in free shipping. Plus, buying 1 (Sin City) at regular price resulted in an additional 25% off Bedtime Stories. Total price was $24 each, not the best price for a Blu-ray, but better than I would pay at Amazon with sales tax.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

I was trying to open a new account with the 7:2 code 978283 and whenever I search for any Ghibli film title (Miyazaki movies) I couldn’t find any? We used to be able to pick these titles. I don’t know if i am doing something wrong or we can no longer choose any Ghibli title.

^Since the site redesign (late December 08) the enrollment selections are much more limited than in the past. On the member site there are only 2 results ("Castle In The Sky", and "Porco Rosso") when using "Miyazaki" as a search term.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

It seems a lot of stuff has disappeared, also from the member site. I can't manage to find any seasons of The Muppet Show or The Tick, even though they are all listed in the catalog I just received in the mail.

The enrollment site is completely worthless to me. Not a single title I'd be interested in buying. I was just about to cycle this account when they changed to the new site.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

My girlfriend got a mailing yesterday about signing up for the club, but it also included a separate Blu-ray club. The offer is 2 Blu-rays for $4.95 each with free shipping, with an optional third at $19.95 (free shipping). You have to buy 3 Blu-rays or DVDs at $29.95 or higher (2 if you take the optional third). Also, if you pay with a credit card, you only get charged a total of $4 for the first 2.

Assuming you can get free shipping on the two fulfillments, this works out to:

$4 (2 enrollments, pay with CC) + $19.95 (third option) + $29.95 + $29.95 = $83.85 / 5 selections = $16.77 per selection.

Not the greatest deal, but it's a step in the right direction.

I don't see an offer code anywhere on the paper, however, and I don't see a way to sign up online. The only thing listed is the offer terms.

For the record, the enrollment choices are:
Bolt
Wall-E
TinkerBell
Santa Clause 3
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
National Treasure 2
Ratatouille
Enchanted
The Wild
Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Cars
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
College Road Trip
Dinosaur
Chicken Little
Haunted Mansion
The Game Plan
High School Musical 2
The Invincible
Eight Below
Underdog
Pixar Short Films
Meet the Robinsons
Bridge to Terabithia
National Treasure
Chronicles of Narnia
Wild Hogs
Pearl Harbor
The Queen
Dan in Real Life
The Prestige
The Guardian
The Rock
Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Gone in 60 Seconds
Becoming Jane
Deja Vu
The Invisible

For Disney BDs, that is a great deal if all of those elements are present and the final price would be 16.77. You'll have to fight, claw and kick to get any Disney movie for less than 20.00 bucks, not including tax, especially anything animated. To have the opportunity to get five for well under that is a great bargain, even if it's not considered an overall great BD deal.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

I just got an email with a new VIP offer: Buy 1 dvd at regular price and get the rest of the order at 40% off plus free shipping (or 25% off blu-rays).

Is this the best offer VIPs get? I was planning to jump on it to finish my Miyazaki collection.

I've seen a BOGO once, along with a couple of deals where you get 60% off. But, neither show up as often as I would like, although I've only been in the club about 10 months.

I guess the key thing with Disney is if you think it's a good deal, jump on it. They'll have better deals and similar deals, but if it works for you, move on it. I dont know that there is an ideal DMC code or sale like with Columbia House, so it's tough for me to tell anyone to hold off and wait until something better comes along with them.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

I agree with that. I've been in the DMC for a bit longer, and free shipping codes that also have decent discounts are few and far between. B1+40%+FS is nice. I believe that the B1G1 code that IJMSPORT is talking about was the one that was discovered accidentally on the old site that gave B1G1+50%+FS. It was never advertised, had no banner, and stopped working after a few days. That was kind of a miracle. But since the site redesign, there is no way to enter codes like that; deals are now account-specific.

That said, since you've fulfilled your account, if there are other selections you'd like to get that are available as enrollments, it's probably a better deal to close the account and open a new one.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Thanks guys. I thought about cycling but the enrollments kind of suck right now and there's not alot that I'm interested in and the Miyazaki films I want aren't even enrollment choices.

I was just wondering if I should hold out for a B1 Get 50% off + FS, or if the best available was 40%.

Click on Other Offers. B1 get 50%. If you buy a Combo Pack or Super Pack there's free shipping.

EDIT - Removed something I'm not sure of.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

The offers are now account-specific. Souzou may or may not have that offer. I don't.
But yes, it is good advice to check the "Other Offers" page when you're on the site.

Also, keep in mind that sometimes lower discounts are better than higher ones when looking to fulfill. For example, a $29.95 title counts as a fulfillment with a 33% or less discount, but doesn't with a 40% discount.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

DMC is pissing me off. Now, I have their sale offer of the 10 dollar BD, which clearly states that you can take any BD for 10.00, as long as it is regularly listed at 29.95 or lower. Well, Sin City lists at 29.95, yet, I cant take that film.

There is no fine print or anything that specifies that certain movies do not qualify, so I am trying to figure out what's up. While I'll be giving DMC a phone call in the morning, I am interested to know if others have had a similar DMC experience with this particular BD offer or another similar promotion.

Not sure which BD deal you have, but in our current promotion there is an offer for one Blu Ray Disc at $10 for upgrading the account to BD from DVD. The fine print in our brochure specifies any BD priced $32.95 or less qualifies. Also, I read on the rest of the fliers that they count any BD priced between $29.95 up to $49.95 count as one unit, so they shouldn't be invoking any kind of clause that would exclude Sin City by disc count, either.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

You and I are in the same boat, my friend! I have been waiting all weekend for DMC to open so I can call them. I changed my preferences to Blu-ray specifically to get Sin City. I looked around, and from what I can tell, SC is the only $29.95 Blu-ray that doesn't count for the deal when the code is active.

I thought I had seen in this thread that someone else had done this and had some kind of problem with the code/banner/whatever, and had called them and wound up getting Sin City as their Blu-ray. But now I can't find that post. Maybe it was on UltimateDisney.com...

It was someone else's post about it that made me realize SC was available through the DMC, so that's why I took them up on their offer to change my preferences.

UPDATE: I called and talked to a CSR. She was unable to place the order because it is a "web offer." However, she kept my account "locked" in her system, and I placed the order for Sin City at the non-discounted price. She said when the order popped up on her screen, she'd change the price to $10 for me. So, I will assume for now that it will be OK, since the DMC hasn't let me down yet! Also, I was unable to find the aforementioned post on UltimateDisney, either, so I don't know where I read it.

UPDATE #2: A few hours later, I got the order confirmation email, and the price was listed as $10, plus $3.95 shipping. So whatever she did worked. The DMC really has some good CSRs, in my experience. Very helpful, and SO polite. This woman apologized to me at least 10 times during our conversation--first that I was having trouble with the site, then that the discount wasn't being applied, then that she had some trouble with her system and had to log out, then that the system wasn't letting her back in, then that she couldn't take the order directly, etc., etc., etc.. I kept saying she didn't have to keep apologizing, and I was happy with the club, and this wasn't really an inconvenience, etc., but every time I did that, it just made her apologize again.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

I just talked to a cast member to ask them if they had a specific Blu-ray club. I know that VamPirateXXX was kind enough to post that information, I wanted to find out if they had a code to sign up online. The CSR took my information and said that I should be getting the enrollment packet in the mail. He said the club should be getting going in the next couple of weeks. Thought I would post this here in case anyone else was wondering.

Sorry, I'm new to this forum and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to tell the difference between the widescreen and full screen formats so that I can order the correct DVD's?

Welcome to the forum, littlemal! With Disney, you will find after the selection number is usually an abbreviation or two. FS is for full screen, WS is for widescreen. Also, you will see SP, meaning that the selection is available in Spanish. Just to clarify, though, have you already joined DMC, or are you signing up to open an account? I only ask because I'm going off the monthly brochures sitting in front of me, and I don't know that the sign-up selections are presented the same way.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

^On the sign up site they note whether it's FS/WS by listing the aspect ratio in the production details below cast, director, etc.

Examples:

Cars , DVD
Aspect Ratio: 1.33:1

Monsters, Inc. , DVD
Aspect Ratio: 1.33:1, 1.85:1

Ratatouille , DVD
Aspect Ratio: 2.39:1

So... In these examples, Cars is FS, Monsters, Inc. is in *both* FS and WS and Ratatouille is WS. Basically, *anything* with a 1.33/1 aspect ratio is FS. All other product is WS with the higher the number before the /1 indicating a wider screen size.

Re: Disney Movie Club part 5

Big Summer Sale at Disney Movie Club. I have not fulfilled yet, so I don't know how this compares to those sales.

Your highest-priced selection counts as your regular price movies (DVD must be $19.95 or more. Blu-ray must be $29.95 or more). All additional DVD titles of equal or lesser value will have the 50% discount applied. All additional Blu-ray titles of equal or lesser value will have the 20% discount applied. Discounted titles do not count toward your purchase commitment, and are limited to 3 units per title. Multipacks, CDs, Merchandise and Club Deals are not eligible for discounts. These offers cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion. Offers end July 27, 2009.

Also, a temporary Pixar price reduction sale.
