It's been years since I joined Columbia House, so I'd like to get back into it, but was hoping to find a code for free shipping upon enrollment. I've entered several of the codes found in this thread, but the site doesn't appear to reflect any of them.

9QJ - You get 6 DVDs for 49¢s with Free Shipping on this order
As a Club member, all you need to do is buy 3 more DVDs in the next 2 years at regular Club prices (currently as low as $19.95 plus shipping and processing). If you take a 7th movie now for $9.95 with Free Shipping, you will only have to buy 2 more DVDs (instead of 3) in the next 2 years!

SMART-ASS, So far as I am aware, there aren't any good codes that will allow four fulfillments. There are plenty of bad codes that allow for four or five fulfillments. For example, you could just enroll with the standard deal (no code):
7 @ 49¢ + $1.99 each shipping, five fulfillments, buy the 8th for $9.95 plus $1.99 shipping and have four fulfillments. By the standards we use, this is a really crappy deal.

Your best bet would be to use a good 7:2 code and decline the extra $9.95 title to make it into a 6:3 code.

Until/unless Columbia House introduces a Blu-ray Club, there is no getting around having to buy SD DVDs in order to buy Blu-ray Discs as fulfillments.

Thanks Lizard. That's pretty much what I expected to hear, but thought I'd take a stab at it.

^Check the first post in this thread. It's not unusual for a code to work online and NOT work over the phone.

I was just browsing around the newly-redesigned site (from one of my old canceled accounts that is now apparently active in some form again), and decided to take a look at the account cancellation section of the membership agreement. In there, I read the following...

Does anybody know if this was always the wording? Having not read the membership agreement for years, it's possible this was the original text and the club actually allowed 2 per person, per club.

^I have the printed Membership Agreement from a TV account opened in February '06. It has that exact wording, even though at the time this was the 2nd TV account I had open. The wording in an Agreement I have from an account opened in February '05 has everything but the membership limit line.

Thanks for the info. Maybe nothing has changed, then. Who knows...?

I hope somebody can confirm getting a second account opened since the site redesign. I have only had lost apps for the past few months. I'm glad I kept one of each account open to take advantage of some of the recent deals and to get and use some final FunCash before it lost its value (now worth about $.10/FC$1.00). But now I'm thinking about closing my regular club account and trying to re-apply the next week or something to see if I can get a new account. I still have just enough on my wantlist for a new enrollment.

I'm particularly bummed about not having been able to get an HDL TV account opened recently. There are a lot of sets there that I want now. But then again, if we can't get some B1G1/FS codes on the new site, I'm not sure I want another TV account.

And now there's the whole strangeness of old accounts seemingly reactivated on the new site. I wonder if that will interfere with getting new accounts opened. I now have 5 TV accounts and 3 regular accounts that I can log into. One of my old (previously closed) accounts has $20 FC in it, but I can't seem to use it on anything, so maybe it really isn't there. I wouldn't have closed an account with FC$20, so I don't know where it came from.

I have never tried a phone app, but I guess I might soon.

For reasons unclear, most good enrollment codes don't work on the phone.

You could try 98W, 59H, 75X, 75Y, 76C, 76W on the phone: 888-242-3837. 76W and 98W have been reported to work on the phone in recent months.

Funcash is "suspended" until June 20th. You can still see how much you have accumulated but not use/apply it towards anything. If the account is still "open" after that date I would try to use it just because... However, you'll no longer be able to use FC unless you have enough to get a title "free". That is, you'll not be able to apply $10 FC to a $20 title and get it for $10. You must have $20 in FC to get the title.

Thanks, I forgot about the date. With the new site design, the reminder is gone (or I missed it), and you can seemingly access FC in your cart, but the message is that you can't use it on "this item," as opposed to a message that says FC is unavailable right now. I guess they didn't program a specific error message for this short period of time.

Luckily (if it's real), I somehow have exactly $20 in FC, so I will try to use it on a regular DVD on or after the 20th, if the account is still seemingly active. I know I didn't have FC$20 in that account when I closed it. But I did a FC order to use it up right before I closed it, and then closed it before the order shipped (which I did get). Maybe that resulted in the FC mistakenly not being deducted.

Is there an updated list of codes for the new site. I tried some codes in the first post and they didn't work. And I noticed it hasn't been edited since 7.11.07.

You could try D50. 1KJ and LMT* also seem to still work. Most of the codes in the first post should still work on-line (very few codes ever work on the phone, of course).

I don't have broadband and it is tedious to check enrollment codes on dial-up, so I won't try to go through the list (because one has to close the window and open a new one for each code checked, to clear cookies).

I'm not sure why you found that the codes in the first post didn't work. Don't know what to suggest.

*Edit: As BobO'Link points out below, LMT is no longer a valid code even though it seems to work on the website.

^LMT appears "dead"... at least the last 2 times I tried to use that one I got a "rejection" letter stating the offer was no longer good. I recall someone else posted the same results with that one.

I just tried placing an order over the phone and I had no luck with any of the aforementioned codes in the thread. I ran about ten different codes by the operator and she said none were valid.
Also, I'm sure someone's mentioned this before, but she said they were no longer accepting applications under debit cards, only credit cards.
I put in an application under my debit card about a month ago and I keep trying to put in one for a second account but I end up not getting an approval. She said it may be because I'm using a debit card.
I was hoping to place my order over the phone and being more likely to get an approval.

Which phone number did you call? In the past the regular CSRs couldn't use enrollment codes. Only by calling 888-242-3837 could we get to a special enrollment CSR that could handle the few good enrollment codes that work on the phone. I don't know if this is still the case because I haven't tried to enroll using the regular phone number CSRs in several years.

You're right. I had forgotten that the code appeared to work but generated a rejection letter. I was surprised when the enrollment site "took" the code because I knew it was supposed to be dead. I presume that this is true for all of the LM* enrollment codes.

I didn't even get an email response for the order, the titles just showed up in my order history and arrived a few days later. My total cost was $29.93, which works out to $4.28 per title for 7 DVDs. No complaints here. I would be willing to do this a few more times at that price as new releases become available for enrollment.
I was charged shipping - $1.99 each for the five titles (I used the "Contact Us" email form). Even with the shipping B9V is a great code!

Btw, i haven't had luck opening another account with that code yet.

Has anyone had any luck opening an account online lately? Especially with a 7:2 code? I've been trying every couple weeks for the past 4-5 months with no luck. Tried various codes listed in this thread, and 3 offers they had emailed me, all with no luck at all. I've only cycled 3 or 4 accounts, so I can't imagine I'd be blacklisted. Never had this problem with the earlier accounts. Any ideas? Are phone applications the only way to go now? If so, what good codes are working that way?

I had a 6:1 on-line application approved in late April, to my surprise. I have had more than 75 previous accounts. I had no regular DVD club accounts open at the time.

In general, on-line applications have been hit-or-miss for more than three years. There is no pattern to "lost" or denied applications that I have seen. Anecdotal evidence suggests that having no open accounts or having not had a new account in six months or more helps the success rate, but the truth is we really don't know why Columbia House approves some applications and "loses" or rejects most. I have some ideas, but they border on wild speculation.

Most people have reported much greater success with phone applications, so long as they call the right phone number and they use one of the few good codes that are valid on the phone. I list some of those in a post above (I put it in blue to make it easy to spot).
