Yeah, I'm thinking this will be a sucky movie day for me given all the crap that's going on. I'm just hoping to watch as many as I can throughout the month, I like the challenge and I love horror movies, so it's fun for me.

I edited my quote of Ed so that's gone and I get what you're saying.

Here's a breakdown of how I'll get 7 movie done today(8 if I'm smooth):

I finished 3 at work so far.

I'm taking off shortly and when I get home, I'll finish one that I started yesterday and only have 30 minutes left. I'll have that done about 4pm and that's number 4.

Give me another 2 movies running about 90 minutes each and it's be done by 7pm. I'm up to 6 movies for the day so far.

I'll stop watching by 10 or 10:30 so that's 3-3.5 hours. I can easily fit in another movie, possibly two which would actually make 8 for the day.

The kids are off doing swimming and gymnastic stuff so they are gone a lot of the time I'm home and when they get back they do homework and other stuff until it's about time for bed. If they want, they also watch a movie with me.

The wife is chained up in the attic with her bucket of fish heads, so she isn't much of a problem.

I'm mainly picking up the pace to get through my 3,000+ title backlog but I'm not watching so fast that I'm not enjoying them.

I'm one of the people who doesn't really post in other areas plus I have watched quite a few movies.
I stumbled on here right when this challange was getting geared up. At the time we were getting my husband around for an underway period (he's navy) so I mainly stopped in to glance around and go. Well, he's underway, on my days off I have nothing to do besides some house work and watch movies. On the days that I work I work seconds so I have all morning to pack in movies and I try watch one before bed. I work at a movie store so I have access to movies if I'm in the mood to see them as well as pre-streets.
We have no children to take up my time so it's just me, my cats and my horror movies.

I'll remove myself from contention for any prizes. Just listing as I watch.

Congrats Sabrett!

In the usual fashion I'm coming late to the party after all the conversation has died down.

This is probably the fifth or sixth reply (lol) to this quote, but I couldn't agree more. And lucky for me I've been having a blast with no desire of slowing down ...at least not yet. In fact, I've been so distracted lately with watching the films that I've unintentionally managed to avoid keeping up with all the lists and the mudslinging! I try and pace myself by taking short bathroom breaks between films, applying contact rewetting drops (ceiling fans are a bitch!), getting a little fresh air and exercise, some net surfing, etc. until I'm rejuvenated and ready for the next one.

did you watch an Asylum film and lose the will to live?

I wouldn't do that. Just keep doing it. This thread isn't nearly as bad as last year(I'm in the middle of reading it).

First of all, congrats on the wedding Sabrett. I know later than others, but been busy lately and besides making my post to my list, havent really been following the thread. Next year I hope to be married myself, and I know my gf will not be a crimp in my style for next years chellenge. She loves horror movies herself. She is like me, we can both watch them all year long.

I had one of those days where I didnt get much in today myself. I had the day off, but still I had one of those days where I didn't have the ambition to sit down and watch a movie even. You know how everyone has those eh days, where you don't feel like doing anything. I did manage to squeze in a wild card from a 50 horror classics set I own. I watched an episode of this show from the 70s-80s called Tales Of The Unexpected. I figure, well, I can count it as a wild card as IMDB listed it as horror. Seems to be an interesting set, a lot of classic movies, interspersed with episodes from various anthology shows. One of the shows I forget the name, but it was an episode of Frankenstein, starring a drunk Lon Chaney Jr as the monster, and it was shot live.

Incidentally, last week I watched Bloodrayne on Sci Fi, can I get double points from that being a Uwe Boll film? lol, j/k

LMAO! Fish heads!

I get that. I honestly hadn't thought of starting a movie and not finishing it (I think my OCD would beat me up and steal my lunch money if I tried that) and I know I've watched 8 movies in one day and 5 the next, but I still don't know how I did it (magic! Time stopped!) I forgot some people can watch movies while they're at work; I wish I could watch movies at work. I had a job where I could do that once, but it was a long time ago when I was working night security and trying to pass the 12 AM-8AM shift without going insane.

I'm getting through movies I haven't seen either, so this is a great challenge for me, because I tend to blindly buy and collect movies without watching many of them, because I go out and buy more when I don't "feel like" watching the ones I've already bought (I'm a consumer whore).

I worked night as a board op for a tv station over here. If I didn't bring something in and there was nothing good on another channel, I'd get stuck watching talk shows until 2am which then turned into news till 7am.

Once I had nothing to watch, nothing good was on any of the other channels, so I got stuck watching the talk shows. Did my first commercial break and went to the breakroom to sit on the couch till my next break.

Next thing I know, I'm waking up to a black screen on the tv. I missed every break and the tape had rewound on the air while I slept. I can't describe how fast I got up and tried to figure out what in the hell I was going to do next.

I have an idea to add to the score card, deaths. Death by knife, gun, sword, strangulation, decapitation, explosion, cannibalism, crushed to death, eaten/killed by animal...

I'm sure there's more people can think of.

I honestly think some of these lists are pure Bollox. I understand people can go on tears where they pump out alot. But the fact of keep 8 or 9 a day is ridicuilous. I know Edtheripper from UHM, and I remember him discussing watching a lot of movies a day so I cannot say his list is garbage. I was gonna quit this because it felt like people where competing to get the gift card instead of watching movies.
Now I really dontknow how people do 8 in a day. If your watching at work? Are you really watching? Or is it backgrouond noise. I frequently play a movie when im online, I dont count as watching it.

Now for those who say they watch 8 and it isnt at work?
Do you work?
DO you sleep? And dont give the insomnia excuse. I take 2 pills for Insomnia. You don't NOT SLEEP. You just sleep less. An average human sleeps 6-8, an insomniac sleeps 3-4. But they usually crash for an hour or two during the day.

Do you eat/shower/do human things?
Do you go outside?
DO you watch two movies at a time? Which has been outlawed.
DO you just list movie that are on tv and make like you watch them? Somone listed as wacthing Childs Play on Showtime HD on the 7th. Childs Play wasnt even on Showtime HD on the 7th.

I mean, C'mon this is supposed to be fun, Not who can list a bigger list. For me its the chance to watch a butt load of dvds i havent watched.

Yowza. Just quickly looking over my list, I've got death by: Christmas tree star, dismemberment (zombie-style), mutant baby, jet engine (does it count as 'death' if it's a zombie?), axe, hammer, strangulation, hanging, voodoo, killer doll, killer tailor's dummy, killer vine, exsanguination (vampire-style), magic Indian rope, shovel, scissors, freezing, killer fish, chainsaw, mutant ticks, mutant slugs, insecticide, alligators, snakes, spiders, mutant leeches, Great White Pine, pitchfork, bees, spiked fist, and falling off the Eiffel Tower. Whew!

That's exactly what I'm doing.

If I'm watching a movie at work, it's on my screen and I have headphones on while I watch it.

So far the most I've seen on a workday is 7 and I've only done that once.

Sunday I finished 11. Here's how I did it. Saturday night I got an hour into Robo Vampire before I fell asleep which left about 30 minutes. Total time watched for Sunday is about 900 minutes, or 14 hours and 30 minutes.

I woke up Sunday morning around 5 am and went to sleep around 11:30 pm. I was awake for 18 hours and 30 minutes. That gave me 4 hours of time to regain my human form from the potato that I was most of the day.

Once you have done that many, 7 or 8 in a day isn't nearly so bad.

For someone who is in it for fun who sure seem worried about cheaters.

I can easily get a crap load of movies in a day. 5 is a min. I get about 4 hours of sleep a day and work 8 most days (I was off Thursday and Friday and I'm off the next 2 days). Either way it gives me at least 11 hours to watch movies. And if you took the time to pay attention to the lists a lot of people are milking old movies which run times barely over an hour or the masters of horror series. MoH is an amazing filler and I used the entire second season which I've had tivo'd for what seems like forever

What annoys me is that this has become a giant ocd issue for me. I have this urge to win and yet I can't catch up no matter how much sleep I lose but what's worse is that I've watched 99% of my stuff so it's hard to watch something new.

Speaking of new, if anyone finds a listing for House or House 2 let me know, I've always wanted to watch them and never got the chance and Blockbuster doesn't carry them.

Oh and about someone watching Child's Play, perhaps they tvio'ed it.

For the idiot who said Child's Play wasn't on Showtime HD, ever hear of DVR? I haven't watched live television in years. Jesus! LOL. And again, I waived any prizes, so what would be the point of lying or cheating?? I watch 4-5 between 11 pm and 5-6 am. I then watch 4-5 more between 2-3 pm and 11 pm. And I also spent all afternoon in a gorilla suit, so yes, I do human things.

I think it's kinda sad that people are coming in here and stating their doubts about how many movies are being watched. The result is that everyone is feeling like they have to prove that they are really watching the movies.

Darkgod--Making the ASSUMPTION that people just want bigger lists is nothing but an assumption. Truthfully, I didn't even know a gift card was the prize. I never read the first page. I just found out about the wild cards! So, no, not EVERYONE wants a $25 gift card. Some people are just enjoying watching their movies.

Hey, I have insomnia and I've been prescribed heavy doses of sleeping pills (once I was up to five different drugs for it at one time and if that sounds excessive and you think I'm lying I can't help that, it's the truth) and my body REFUSES to sleep when it gets in that state, doctors were really worried about me for awhile but it seems to have cleared up a bit, but there were plenty of nights when my body wouldn't sleep no matter how exhausted I was or how hard I tried to sleep, even up to taking pills. So if people say insomnia keeps them awake, I don't automatically assume they're lying. Everyone's experiences are different.

And if I check an email or write a review while I'm watching a movie I don't think it should be discounted. In fact in the case of watching a movie while writing its review, writing reviews while I'm watching helps me focus even harder on the review. If I can pay attention to the movie at the same time as I do something else every once in awhile I think that should count. It depends on the individual person, but unless I put a movie on and leave the house or put a movie on and fall asleep, who's to say I'm not paying attention? I can focus on several things at one time when needed, so focusing on two things at once isn't difficult at all.

Okay, FusionX, you're my hero for that line.

Seriously, the Challenge is to reach 100; if you reach that, you win. If anyone really wants to contest the amount of minutes in the films in anyone's list, or require a minute-by-minute accounting of someone's day, or anything else to claim fraud, let them do it. I think the rest of us are too busy watching movies.

I'm not interested in prizes at all - I'm in New Zealand!. In about a year I'll be starting my masters at uni, hopefully on the zombie film (hence why I'm doing it the way I am this year; I don't think anything gives me as much of a thrill as flesh munchers)

And yes, I did watch 208 2 years ago. I've watched over 1000 films I have never seen before each of the last 5 years as well - goes with being a film student

In the interest of actually discussing films rather than movie counts --

So I had a bad day at work, got some news that I and a lot of my colleagues didn't want to hear and we were all in a funk. So I came home and thought about what was next for the horror challenge. For my last entry of the day, I think I'll curl up with either Bubba Ho-Tep or the MST3K version of Earth vs. the Spider.

I sense I'm among kindred spirits here, so: Who among us, admit it now, has "comfort food" horror movies?

I don't get why there have to be any negative vibes in what should be a fun activity to celebrate Halloween. For my part, I'm using this month as an impetus to plow through my unwatched horror purchases from the past year.

I'd put the original Dawn of the Dead, Army of Darkness, and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 down as my comfort horror.
