I saw this at DVD Planet. Is this a mistake, or is Steel Toes coming out on HD DVD?

The Hoax is coming to Blu-Ray on 10/16 as well.

Miramax (via Buena Vista) has announced that they will bring the Richard Gere film 'The Hoax' to Blu-ray on October 16th, day-and-date with the DVD. The film will be presented in 1.85:1 1080p video with accompanying PCM 5.1 audio. Extras include two featurettes, a commentary with the film's producers, and some deleted and extended scenes, same as the DVD.

In the early 1970s, author Clifford Irving (Richard Gere), with accomplice Richard Suskind (Alfred Molina), attempts to pull off one of the greatest media scams of the century. He writes a fake biography of reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes, claiming that Hughes commissioned it, and sells the book to publishing giant McGraw-Hill. Based on a true story.

Worst movie I've seen this year. Besides the fact that the movie was horrible, the previews for it don't even remotely represent what the basic plot of the movie is about. Previews looked good but, man, was I in for a LONG two hours.

I would have to concur with the statement above - It was alot like 'Cigarette Burn's' not because CB sucked, but because i was trying to gouge my eyes out about 25 min. into it.

Throw the trailer out the window! It has nothing to do with the movie. It was completely misleading. The trailor leads you to believe that this is some sort of murder mystery and that hot girl from the recent "Phantom of the Opera" movie is supposed to help the "invisible boy" solve the mystery of his attempted killing. 20 minutes into the movie she is one of the people that tried to kill him!!! This is not a spoiler. There's even a scene in the trailer where the "invisible boy" is talking to an "invisible old man" in what appears to be a hospital and that scene isn't even in the movie. I know it's possible my theater missed a real or something but it's highly unlikely since it's a brand new Regal 15 Theater Stadium Seating theater. It's not even bad enough to recommend for the sake of watching a joke of a movie.

Trailers are put together by the studio's marketing department, not the filmmakers, and are usually prepared months before the movie's final cut is ready. Having footage in the trailer that doesn't make it into the movie is not uncommon.

BTW - completely different actress. Not surprising that you didn't know that.

No idea on the integrity of the source website, but I've seen a few blogs picking up on this:

Dude, it ain't a spoiler if it occurs within the first act of the freakin' movie! It isn't like I said "You know that 'Sixth Sense' movie? Bruce Willis is dead the whole time!!" So pull your panties out of your butt and give it a rest. As for the actress mistake, they look a lot alike and given my hatred toward this film I'm not surprised I didn't know either. The actress is Margarita Levieva...yes I can use IMDB too. Graduating summa cum laude (that's Latin for "with highest honors" since YOU probably didn't know THAT) from college in 3.5 years lets me sleep at night when ding dongs think they're smart for calling out actress mistakes in bad movies. If you come back with "I graduated from Harvard when I was twelve" it wouldn't surprise me since you you've shown the maturity of an adolescent boy who gets pissy over a non-spoiler. I'm done with you so go have the last word big man.

Good point there. It wouldn't bother me so much in this case but the preview and that particular scene are so misleading. I guess it really was good marketing, though, because it got me to go see it opening weekend. Good but misleading marketing...not the first time nor the last I suspect.

Geez good thing Vader didn't reveal he was Luke's father before the battle of Hoth or no one would have kept the secret!

Nicolas Cage set out to do a movie worse than Ghost Rider. As hard as it was, he succeeded with Next, a Philip K. Dick story about a man who can see multiple versions of the immediate future before they happen. Of course the govt. wants him for his abilities, and using Jessica Biel, he goes on the run to find the truth. Rated PG-13 for the number of people who saw the film and liked it.

I hated Leaving Las Vegas....waaaay overrated.

Ok, I promise....no more soapbox.

Bug on Blu-Ray 9/25

Lionsgate Home Entertainment has announced it will bring the William Friedkin chiller 'Bug' to Blu-ray in time for Halloween.

Starring Ashley Judd and Harry Connick, Jr. and based on the hit off-Broadway stageplay, 'Bug' generated a good deal of controversy during its brief theatrical run this past May for its graphic content.

Despite all the hullabaloo, 'Bug' ultimately got squashed at the box office (having the misfortune of opening against the blockbuster 'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End'), but it seems likely to find an appreciable cult audience on video.

Lionsgate will release the icky horror flick on September 25, day-and-date with the standard-def DVD version.

Tech specs have not yet been announced, but among the extras will be an audio commentary with Friedkin, plus two making-of featurettes and the theatrical trailer.

Retail price will list for $39.95
