So does this firmware include the 1.1 update because it doesn't mention any changes for Blu-Ray playback.

Yeah, I just downloaded the firmware update as well, and the list of changes didn't say anything about Blu-ray. Too bad there aren't any 1.1 discs we can use to test it.

Didn't someone say Resident Evil 3 was 1.1? We just got our screener in on that one, it should be going out to John tomorrow. Maybe he can let us know.

There's a setting over the top of Video that says BD Data Utility.

I think I'm more excited about being able to change my voice for Chat sessions. Once we get some 1.1 discs, I'll vote again.

1.1 upgrade is a nice present, but come on Sony, what we really wanted for Xmas is DTS-MA decoding! For New Years then, hmmm, hmmm??

(I just bought six Fox titles from Amazon and I want to hear the full auditory experience!)

What I want to know is why the ps3 still won't pillarbox my fullscreen dvds. Is it that hard to do? I mean they already do it for old ps2 games that are fullscreen. I would use the pillarbox setting on my tv, but its an old one and it won't allow me to change the viewing format when using component.

It does pillarbox through HDMI when upscaling. However, it can't upscale through component so you will have to handle this with your TV. (which as you said you can't)

Danol?

edited to add: That was in response to a poster jabbering on about some nonsensical things much in the style of Danol, but with much more punctuation whose posts in this thread (and in the HD DVD thread) have now been deleted. Apologies for delaying your continuing browse through this thread. Move along.

1.1 is live, it says in the intro on their web page about the update, as is Divx playback. Woohoo!

Anyone have a link for the firmware? I usually do it through a USB drive.

Dammit, a bunch of you guys beat me to it. I was very pleasantly surprised that I was able to download the update last night. Bring on the 1.1 discs BDA and I will buy more next year than I did this year!

It's up now at http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Ab...html#update_PC

The link is under the section "Update data download procedure" under number 2 (the word "here"). When you move the cursor over the link, look at the status bar to check the name of the directory the file is in. The file is always called "PS3UPDAT.PUP" but the directory name changes based on the version. After /image and /us you'll see the date for the file as the beginning of the directory name. The new version is 2007_1218 so you know the new file is up.

Edit: changed to reflect the overhauled website with new link.

1.1 is now live for the PS3.

How long before an update rolls through for the BDP1 and BDP-300? I kid, I kid.

All of these are prime for a SE release, so I'd hold off unless you really want the titles.

Probably about the same time HD DVD has a non-Toshiba standalone player that isn't just rebadged Toshiba crap. Just kidding!

Just got an E-Mail from Disney, my POTC 1 replacement disc is on the way! Pretty cool that they are sending it out without requiring an exchange of the defective disc.

Hammer, what's the buzz with the POTC 1 replacement? The BD is defective or something? I haven't open mines yet, so i don't know anything about the disc being defective...
