Maybe Universal would like to make money off people like me (and probably you) who have no interest in re-buying their titles because they are in Blue cases?

It just sucks knowing if the war was still going on, we would have an additional 100 titles this year. Now we are stuck with the same titles for who knows when.

I noticed some interesting titles/dates they have added recently. Isn't this site accurate most of the time?

-The Godfather Trilogy 9/23
-Ghostbusters 1 & 2 10/21

Also for October
-Batman 1-4
-Cold Mountain
-Constantine
-Indy 4 (I've also heard November)

-The Matrix Trilogy 11/18

Also in November
-Planet of the Apes 1-5
They better sell Batman individually...I have no intentions of getting that crap that is Batman and Robin (maybe Forever...maybe). I'm in for all (except Constantine and Cold Mountain)

It's got nothing to do with this for some of us. I would not have re-bought the Mummy titles, but the audio is being upgraded. I will also take every opportunity to replace combos.

Now I doubt I would upgrade titles like Sea Of Love or Meet The Parents, but on many catalog titles from Uni with DD+ only, it may very well be worth the upgrade on audio. The Mummy titles are getting new extras. Other titles might get that too - we don't know.

To state it is just "rebuying titles because in they are in blue cases" is gross oversimplification.

+1,000,000

I'll be upgrading plenty of titles based on soundtracks alone.

In the case of The Mummy's which are getting both new Audio and Picture transfers then sure, those would be great (I probably won't upgrade). But in the case of many others, all they appear to be doing is removing the DD+ or TrueHD track and slapping on a DTS MA instead which is the same damn thing (TrueHD track).

You're spot on for most catalog titles though. They could release Fletch with a TrueHD track and I won't rebuy. Same goes for many older catalog titles where DD+ (or TrueHD) is good enough for me. I have yet to have a single problem with any Combo disc on the several players Ive owned. Must be good luck.

Still, I don't see myself replacing any HD DVD versions with Blu-ray versions unless there have been some huge changes. Considering Ive purchased about 80 Universal titles in the past 2 months for $7 or less, I can't see myself spending $20-$30 for the same thing with a slight increase in audio. Not worth it in my book. I'd much rather have some of the 100 or so titles Universal would have released had the war continued on.

Different strokes.

Here's a rumored list for Warner France on Blu-ray

* 15 octobre 2008 : Beetlejuice
* Constantine
* Entretien avec un Vampire
* Génération Perdue
* Gremlins
* L.A. Confidential
* Les Goonies

Interview with the Vampire, The Goonies AND Gremlins?!?! Hell Yeah! If these do not come out this Halloween season I'll be importing these for sure.

I'll definitely grab Ghostbusters 1 and 2 on BD, especially if they include some extras for GB2.

Well the Godfather and Batman stuff (including, presumingly The Dark Knight in October as well) is probably spot-on. The Matrix would make sense. Planet of the Apes is possible.

I have to admit though, I'll be SHOCKED if Lucas agrees to put Indy IV on Blu-ray. I remember when he wouldn't release Phantom Menace on DVD when it first hit home video, and that was a point where DVD was selling much better than Blu-ray is now (1999).

Spielberg is a Blu-ray supporter. I'm sure he'll have his say, too.

They have The Dark Knight as 12/9. It'd be sort of strange to release a Batman set 2 months early.

I had the impression that Indy 4 would make it to BD day & date, but that the trilogy was probably not happening.

How could Indy 4 not come out on Blu-ray? The original trilogy maybe...but the newest Theatrical release? I'd hate to settle for the DVD rental vs. Blu-ray purchase here.

Bunch of news items today:

U-571, End of Days, Miami Vice are coming on 8/26/08

But the most intersting one is this:

Forgetting Sarah Marshall 09/30/08 with msrp of $39.98

and

Forgetting Sarah Marshall 3-disc 09/30/08 msrp of $89.98

No idea what's on the 3 disc set, but i am curious.

Smells like an "Apatow Comedy Bundle" thing. Glad Marshall finally got a date.

TDB also says a three-pack of U-571, End Of Days and Miami Vice with a list price of 59.98. Kocheese do you see that yet? Not a bad price at all.

^That seems like a strange set. What's the link between the films? Just random "guy movies?"

Supposed to be call the "Blu-Ray Action Starter Pack" or something.

Ugh. I remember I went and saw EDtv in the theater. It was a 2 for 1 deal. They played October Sky first, and then followed with EDtv.

It was on one of the premium channels the other day. I watched about 5 minutes of it and was amazed this film was greenlit. It should have been direct-to-video.

I just checked the box office figures, and Box Office Mojo says the production budget was $80 million. ???? More like $80.
