Potentially great news, but knowing Fox they probably will withhold the directors cuts from both films. I hate Fox.

I could care less about the supposed "director's cut" of Alien, but for Aliens it's a must in my book.

I want those titles badly in HD, but with all the givens of cuts, transfers, DNR jobs, extras, pricing, forcing us to buy Alien 3 and 4 again, etc., I'm not holding my breath. Amaze me, Fox!

Yeah, the longer cut of Alien is not the director's cut, and Scott prefers the original cut that played in theaters. It's the same deal with Gladiator.

Indeed. As long as both are available via branching, I'll be a happy camper.

Well, the DC of Aliens has always been out, the theatrical only appears on the SE and Quad set.

This movie looked dreadful (and got squashed by Iron Man opening weekend). Patrick Dempsey needs to be slapped in the face. Michelle Monaghan deserves far better material. I wish Sydney Pollack was still alive.

Why?

She had her shot in Gone Baby Gone and was out performed by everyone.

I'm not sure this is a fair comment. She did alright for what little she had to work with. She had one of the smallest roles in the film. Significant wise.

Anyone know why the hell Stop-Loss didn't have a Blu-Ray release on Tuesday?

Also, anyone else have their order for The Ruins delayed by Amazon?

I am guessing that Paramount is still transitioning to a full schedule. They may not be ready to release all major day and date titles simultaneously on BD just yet (like how Universal has the Mummy movies on the way but not day and date titles yet).

You can only do what's written for you. I thought she was just fine in that movie. Amy Ryan's performance was the one I didn't get all the kudos for. Another one of those "swear as much as you can and get an Oscar nod" acting sessions that just didn't do anything for me.

Speaking of Ms. Monaghan though, am I the only one who thinks she's a dead-ringer for Kimberly Williams-Paisley?

Agree with Ryan's performance. She was o.k. No great shakes. And yes, Monaghan and Williams-Paisley should do a film playing sisters.

Comic Con is in 2 weeks. There are supposed to be some big announcements made there, with lots of firm release dates. According to blu-ray.com, the studios all have time slots reserved.

They always do... These slots are more for film promotion than home video, but the home video departments should have a strong presence on the show floor.

We'll definately see more announcements from this show than EMA, but the studios are being a little cautious about firming up their promotion schedules in case they don't have any talent to promto their product. (i.e. Actors)

Last year Fox bailed out, so personally I don't expect them this year.

Marvel will probably announce Iron Man and Incredible Hulk since they are both pretty much done box office wise.
