Parks had problems with the suit. I believe he even had to take it home to practice with it. The fighting style he was training with proved to be difficult once he put the suit on.

Actually, the first movie is lots of fun. Silly but fun. And, despite claims to the contrary, the sequel looks just as silly (especially with Zartan commenting in the sequel about how the new Cobra Commander's helmet is "cool"). The only difference is that the costumes look much better.

Yeah, the poster more closely resembles how he looked in the actual movie.
Of course that's one of two costumes he wore in the movie. Snake Eyes wore an alternate costume for several scenes (like when General Hawk went to visit the Joes when they were in a French jail) because they were still ironing out the costume design.
Of course this costume is usually seen from a distance or mostly off frame since there was some in-fighting with a Paramount executive. He didn't like characters who wear masks and was demanding that Snake Eyes not have a mask. So they kept Snake Eyes hidden during several scenes while they delt with that dumbass. Eventually an executive from Hasbro had to tell him to fuck off. Basically the Hasbro exec said they'd break the contract and cancel the damn movie if Snake Eyes didn't have his mask. The movie was already well into production so it would have been a big loss for Paramount to halt the whole thing at that point. The Paramount exec stuck his tail between his legs and they were able to keep Snake Eyes with his mask on.
The same executive wanted to cut the fight between a young Snake Eyes and a young Storm Shadow because he didn't like kids fighting. Those kids did their own stunts and their fight was actually better than any of the fights between the adult Snake Eyes and adult Storm Shadow. The filmmakers took advantage of the Hasbro exec's ultimatum to also keep the flashback fight in the finished feature.
Really, it's a miracle the first film was made at all.

God, I hated that suit for SE.
Also...goddamn for the shit they had to do to get the first one made. That kid fight was fucking awesome. The only things I liked in the 1st one that hold up are any and all SE vs. SS moments. Or SE in general I think.

I'm going to stick my dick on the railroad track for this one ... but no Snake Eyes costume works (neither from the first movie and not the one from the new movie) within the context of the film because they have not been explained.
