I hope they don't get too cute and try to redo every fan-favorite line and scene from the OT... that said, as just a throwaway minute scene it would be funny to see a chess rematch.

Everything we'd seen from JJ so far indicates that he really 'gets it' where STAR WARS is concerned. I think the right man got this job (and I'm someone who totally thought he was the wrong man for STAR TREK - and still feel that way).

Is JJ signed on for just Episode VII or is he commited for the whole trilogy?

That's what I've been wondering myself. Nothing has been announced, of course. I imagine that he and Kasdan had to have at least outlined the stories for 8 and 9. Lucasfilm has to have locked down the each actor for all the future films that they'll be needed for also.

Maybe both JJ and Lucasfilm/Disney are taking a wait and see approach as to if JJ will be back. Or they could end up announcing directors for 8 & 9 any day now with how fast they seem to be announcing directors for Star Wars movies.

Hell I wouldn't be surprised if they announced that I'm directing a Star Wars movie in the near future.

YOU get a Star Wars movie!
YOU get a Star Wars movie!
EVERYONE gets a Star Wars movie!

I'd probably get stuck with the Jar Jar origin pic.

Yes, but you could make it as an art film, very avant garde and what-not. Maybe Jar Jar Noir.

You know that's an actual scene from Ep7. Luke trains on a planet of large mice aliens.

I wonder if there'll be at least one hidden Mickey Mouse in Episodes VII-IX.

Yes, he has, but too many people were unwilling to believe it was possible.

That would be funny to see Oprah walk out to the parking lot, and each space has a script in it.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII (2015, D: Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fisher, Serkis, von Syd

Was just about to post that pic. Yea Hamill looks great. He now LOOKS like what an aged Luke should be.

For comparison:

In an interview with the Orlando Sentinel, Mark Hamill shared a few thoughts on the STAR WARS franchise, including why he felt like he had to say yes to J.J. Abrams' STAR WARS: EPISODE VII, seeing the original cast members again, and how he's preparing for the new film.

Mark Hamill on joining STAR WARS: EPISODE VII:

Look, I’m aware that a lot of people don’t care one way or another, but for the UPFs – the ultra passionate fans – they would come after me like the angry townspeople with torches in the old Frankenstein pictures. I would have a lot to answer for if I didn’t at least try to make the effort. It’s not like I had a choice. I feel like I was called up for service by the Selective Service.

On STAR WARS spoilers:

This is a whole different world … The first one, no one cared. The second one there was a lot of interest, but it was before the Internet. … I tell people we’re not trying to annoy you or tease you or play some massive games. Basically what the goal is to keep the surprises for the movie instead of spoiling them on the Internet.

On reuniting with the original cast members:

I hadn’t seen Tony Daniels or Carrie [Fisher] or Harrison [Ford] or Peter Mayhew in ages. … It was wonderful to see them again, because I didn’t expect to. Again, this is all so unexpected. It’s like getting out that pair of pants you haven’t worn in five years and finding a 20-dollar bill in the pocket. Oh, this is nice.

On STAR WARS fandom:

I haven’t seen those movies since they were in movie theaters. I don’t watch them on home theater or DVD. There are people who are far more expert in it than I am. They know more, way more, about them than I do, and they care more. You don’t have to love them, but I am surprised sometimes at how vehemently they get if they’re not satisfied, which is scary. I have this feeling that no matter what we do there’s going to be a faction that really is disappointed. You just can’t live up to that. Any kind of reunion type endeavor, whatever it is … you can never go home again.

On preparing for STAR WARS: EPISODE VII:

I’ve altered my diet. I’ve started working out. There’s that. But on the film itself: I toured the departments, I’ve looked at wardrobe, and I saw the creature shop. I went around and met all the cast people, saw the technicians working on some new things.

Those all sound like reasonable responses and it's a reminder he's a very nice guy.

Good for him. I'm sure it wasn't easy, but he certainly had a strong motivator.

Mark Hamill has come a long way from this time last year.

It's nice to see that the original stars (Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill I'm looking at you) care enough about their legacy and Star Wars in general to get their shit together (at least temporarily). Ford's always been in good shape.

I wonder if Luke could get a handicap permit for his X-Wing?
