I just can't see Disney bumping this in to May 2016. That summer is crowded as it is.

If Harrison Ford were a horse they just would have put him down. I'm not saying that's what they should do here, but, you know, the movie has to go forward. Life moves on.

I still think Episode VII is a heavier hitter of all films being released around that time - the kind that makes other studios change their plans.

^It is, but if Disney were to want to do that, they'd also have to change their own plans, as they have Cap III scheduled for May 2016.

Well, we'll always have EXPENDABLES 3.

I don't think its the time of season they are worried about, its the fact that it moves other SW movies back too.

Disney is going to ride the SW gravy train from 2015-2020 with a movie each year:

Episode 7 - 2015
Standalone - 2016
Episode 8 - 2017
Standalone - 2018
Episode 9 - 2019

I don't remember what was coming in 2016. TAS 3?

New rumor: Daisy is a long-time resident of Tatooine and John is an Imperial pilot that shes saves after he crashes his ship.

What do you think? Kind of sounds too much like the audition. But maybe Daisy isn't the Solo daughter after all...

The official Star Wars fb page posted a picture of a completed Millenium Falcon with the caption:

"Throwback Thursday. We repeat: Throwback Thursday. this picture was taken in 1976".

Moved to 2017. 2016 brings us Captain America 3, Supes/Batman, etc. It's not that SW couldn't open then, but I think Disney would rather spread their big releases to each quarter of the year, right now Marvel has a lock on summer, so...SW not making December would really mess things up if they intend to keep SW in Nov/Dec. (they'll have Avatar to deal with for three yrs though)

I don't think much of anything could stop this movie, it'll be a juggernaut. That being said, Disney probably want to maximize profits by putting it someplace which isn't cluttered with other big releases. But if this isn't in the top ten box office of all time by a few months into its run, I'll be surprised.

Assuming Ford is out (for anything) until September, that still leaves enough time imo. I'm sure things are going to be hectic and stressful, but that can often lead to a film being better imo. This might force them to make hard decisions, cut out any excess, dial back the number of FX shots - which I think everyone would be just fine with. A lean, energetic movie that makes every minute count sounds great to me, it's exactly what the series needs.

Lucas had all the time and leisure at his disposal for the prequels - and I think that rubbed off on the films.

Some of our favorite movies from the 70s and 80s were made because the filmmakers were "under the gun" by the studio - a rushed production isn't necessarily a bad thing...it might result in a really good film.

I think it varies. In the case of the originals, Lucas having some sort of support network of people like Kurtz was probably a good thing, once he had enough clout to remove them and start doing what he wanted, many would argue that that's when the problems started. Yes, studio interference is usually a bad thing, but sometimes artists do need a bit of a leash. Not everyone is Kubrick or Lean .

JJ Abrams needs a deadline. You can't let him work forever, because he will take all the time you give him.

The logistics of shifting the release date and keeping the cast, crew, locations, etc. tied up (if they are even available 6 months out) are tough at this point.

I don't know about his TV work ethic but has he EVER had some type of production pressure in his film work? I think he's been given free reign on his films. I don't think he ever had major issues like this but seems like his productions had a good healthy timeline of work to where he could breath without worry.

This may just be him freaking the fuck out cuz he's never had an immovable obstacle in his work.

Either way. I'd argue that he has enough time as is. But if he's freaking out... I dunno. That could affect the film.

This is what happens when you put a bunch of old fucks in your film, who weren't really good actors in the first place, in a desperate attempt to recapture the glory days.

Not sure how I feel about your comment but yeah. None of them are all that special in their acting. One could argue that Ford wasn't that great of an actor either.

Though I do like Ford...in the good shit he did.

Yeah Ford is great on camera but he doesn't really have much range.

You're right. I guess I could see him telling people to get off stuff in the same mannerism

"Get off my plane!"
"Get off my sewer drain!"
"Get off my horse!"
"Get off my Millennium Falcon!"
"Get off their Amish farm!"

It all starts to blend together after awhile.

Is this 'age' comment you stated regarding Harrison Ford breaking his leg on set? Because if it is, then you really dont know what you are talking about. Carrie Ann Moss broke her leg while filming the sequel to the Matrix, and they had to delay the film for her to recover. So it doesn't matter if you are a 71 year old Harrison Ford, or a 30 year old Carrie Ann Moss, freak accidents can happen to anyone.
