I have watched this teaser trailer more than I watched the PT.

Well, Lucas has always called it "lazer sword" so the fact that it know actually looks like one doesn't really bother me.

The Falcon and Xwings gave me goosebumps.

Assuming you only watched each prequel only once that means you've watched the trailer at least 277 times. Sounds like a blast.

The saber makes sense since one of the characters
Spoiler:
is rumored to be a collector of sith relics. I can see it being one of the original sabers.

Same here. I only saw TPM once in theaters and once on DVD; AotC I only watched once on DVD, and I skipped every scene between Anakin and Amidala; I've never seen RotS.

As a teaser, it's decent. I don't consider the Falcon a money shot worth getting worked up over. Now, had they shown flash-cut glimpses of the original three, then we'd have some legit hype.
I am definitely far more excited about this teaser than The Phantom Menace one. Mostly because it includes Stars Wars things I love - specifically the Millennium Falcon and the X-Wings. TPM had nothing like that.

I cannot believe that in 2014 we have a trailer for a new movie that shows the Falcon tearing over Tatooine with TIE Fighters shooting at it and people are saying "meh". The Internet is the worst

Initially let down we didn't get more, but it's a great teaser...which is what it's meant to be. I'm gonna go with Serkis (with some heavy tweaking) for the voice - maybe he plays the older half cyborg character that sets up the narrative for us and "Kira"?

The long sword light saber is interesting, but wasn't Star Wars heavily influenced by Samurai films, specifically Kurosawa's The Hidden Fortress? I always thought light sabers were supposed to be futuristic katana.

Influenced, yes. Driven by, no.

The teaser is awesome. That X-Wing shot alone is better than anything in the entire prequel trilogy. I like that lightsaber and will like it even more if in context it turns out to be an ancient Sith relic.

All that said, I'm trying to keep my expectations tempered, because at the time I also thought the first trailer for The Phantom Menace was amazing.

Here's a cool article highlighting everything that's wrong with the lightsaber. The twitter pics are hilarious.

The Falcon looks as fake and cartoony as it did in the Special Edition of A New Hope.

Enough with Tatooine already!
An entire galaxy of endless possibilities... here's some more fucking sand.
Stupid, boring planet's already been in 5 of 6 SW movies (just so happens to be missing from the best one), and here it is again. yawn
