The Prequels now all have 3D versions...I'd like to see those get released on Blu-ray, but I doubt it's going to happen.

"First Time on Digital HD"??? I'm pretty sure that the Blu-rays are digital and HD.

Collider mentioned the first official poster will be unveiled at Star Wars Celebration along with the trailer.

MSW has a rundown of shots from the new teaser:

Spoiler:

◾The teaser runs at about a one minute and fifty seconds, just under two minutes.

◾Han, Leia, Artoo and Threepio

◾We do see Yavin in the teaser.

◾We see a shot of Finn with a blue lightsaber.

◾There is a shot of Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), the chrome Stormtrooper, very briefly.

◾We do see Kylo Ren’s helmeted face.

◾We see Poe Dameron shoot down a TIE fighter.

◾A shot of Finn and Poe walking past one another at the base.

◾Rey is in a few shots.

◾There is a shot of Poe Dameron, Artoo-Detoo, See-Threepio, and a CGI character (Rose).

◾BB-8 socketed in the back of an X-wing.

◾Kylo Ren’s Imperial shuttle flys by with TIE escorts to the Star Destroyer (it is the one MakingStarWars.net wrote about)

◾Star Destroyer(s)

◾The Falcon

◾ X-wing fighters flying in a V-shape formation.

◾Darth Vader’s helmet sitting on a podium.

◾no Serkis.

◾No Luke.
I was hoping the second trailer would be a bit more structured to give audiences a taste of the storyline. Ah, well... we'll take what we can get.

Who the fuck wrote this? See-threepio, Artoo-Detoo?

And, yea, no shit a minute and fifty seconds is under two minutes. Ace reporting over there at MSW.

It also mentions a CGI character... I have a bad feeling about this... Son of Jar Jar here we come...

I thought they said this movie was supposed to be more practical effects and less CGI, but there is a CGI character?

What's wrong w/ a CGI character? Could be MoCap.

Mo Cap Merica

It's just CGI and Star Wars have not traditionally worked very well. Plus, the whole thing about them saying the movie would be light on CGI and a return to practical effects.

if the mo cap is the quality of the new Planet of the Apes movies then it will be fine.

FWIW, I believe that's how Lucas wrote their names in his scripts.

The rumor is it's mostly a puppet with CG face enhancements -- sort of like the creatures in Where the Wild Things Are. One report claimed they even used a little person stand-in for walking shots. If Lupita did the facial capture for that character, we can assume she's not some spaz comic relief.

I don't understand the issue here. You knew they were in the movie, right?

He's making an assumption a lot of us would - the character's names are typically written as C3PO & R2D2.

I think on the original action figures it had both ways of writing the names.

Edit: Yep!

They were spelled that way in the credits of the original Star Wars movie.

I thought it was common knowledge that the spellings of those two characters were interchangeable.

Lot of newbs pretending to be experts. The filmmakers didn't fuss over these things. For example almost all of Lucas' scripts and myriad development materials for all three OT films call lightsabers "laser swords". The word "lightsaber" is almost never mentioned.

My inside source tells me that the UOT won't be released tomorrow.

There's nothing wrong with cgi characters in principle. Jar-Jar being cgi had nothing whatsoever to do with his failure as a character. I would even go so far to say that he was a pretty grand technical achievement that's gotten completely lost in all of the hatred.

The Jabba in A New Hope could have been done better by a 5 year old with a box of crayons. They have only had three tries to make it look right and they can't or can't be arsed to do it.

Hell, in the recently recorded commentaries for the movies, Lucas himself uses the term "laser sword."

Drives me fucking nuts.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (12/18/2015, Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fi

The digital downloads of the Star Wars films (except for A New Hope) have removed the Fox logo/fanfare and replaced the music over the Lucasfilm logo:

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zWSuCxqBBqk?feature=player_detailpage" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Despite Disney now handling the digital distribution of Empire through Sith (well, at least they carry the "Disney Movies Anywhere" banner on the Vudu site) they haven't added the Disney intro to any of the films. Hopefully it will stay that way for Episode VII.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (12/18/2015, Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fi

They really should have started with the regular Cinderella castle shot, pan to the sky as the Falcon(or an X-Wing) comes in for a flyby going screen left, camera pans and follows to reveal the Lucasfilm logo as the Falcon goes in between one of the letters. Same music could be used.

They do the modified thing anyway for some of their movies like Tron and Into the Woods. Why not here?
