Re: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015, D: Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fis

I think I'm done looking at spoilers, I've been reading up to now, but I haven't looked at these last few ones posted here. I've got some of the basic ideas, but I may be going on radio silence until December.

Check back in with you guys this winter.

Spoiler:
If Han's death is indeed true that's a pretty major spoiler to let leak. For that reason I almost don't believe it's true and is something being done by Abrams to throw fanboys off.

Chances are these spoilers are so different from the actual plot many may be disappointed when the final film is completely different from all the rumors we've been hearing.

Most of the spoilers are probably false, but the true ones could be mixed in as well. After all, Kylo Ren and his crossguard lightsaber was leaked, and then it was later shown in the official trailer. So that was at least one leak confirmed to be true.

It reminded me a bit of Courtship of Princess Leia where:
Spoiler:
Han tried to commit suicide by setting off a bomb to kill the top witch. But he's stopped. Something like that could work in the movie.

Spoiler:
Han has to die, he needs to go out like a god damned fucking hero... something epic, like crashing the Millenium Falcon into a Star Destroyer to allow others to escape. Something like the beginning of Star Trek 2009. He can't go out like a punk bitch.

Spoiler:
I agree. Han deserves an honorable death. If that spoiler is true depending how it was handled that could be the case, but I really think that spoiler is false. Like I mentioned before a major spoiler like that being allowed to leak just doesn't seem likely and seems more like it was planted to get fanboys talking.

I hope the spoiler of the soccer ball robot gets debunked soon.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015, D: Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fis

Spoiler:
Hopefully we'll see Lando flying it in Episode VIII...

It SHOULD go to one of Solo's kids, but these latest rumors seem to indicate he might not have any -- at least among the current crop of new characters. I hope that isn't the case. It would be foolish not to have at least one Solo child to carry on the family legacy after Han dies. I can't imagine Disney wants to end the Skywalker bloodline with Luke and Leia. I guess it's possible Kylo Ren is his son and they do a whole Vader-style redemption story over the next two film. Ugh...

A couple fan sites have also posted a more updated "outline" of the first act (likely pieced together from spoiler reports):

Spoiler:
A lightsaber falls onto a planet after the opening crawl. Thankfully, no severed hand is attached to it. A farmer named Naka finds it and accidently starts a small fire after igniting it. He takes the weapon to a character codenamed "The Vicar", who then contacts the Alliance to send someone to retrieve it. Poe Dameron is sent on the mission, but stormtroopers show up before he can get away. He hides the saber inside BB-8 and sends it off (just like Leia did with the Death Star plans) where it will eventually be discovered by scrappy mechanic Rey. Kylo Ren is commanding the stormtroopers and orders them to raze a village to the ground. Finn is one of these troopers and refuses to comply with orders. He ends up thrown in the brig of a Star Destroyer with Poe, who was captured during the raid. The two work together and highjack a TIE fighter, which crash lands back on the planet.

The whole lightsaber in space thing just doesn't make sense. How did it get in space? It is at the bottom of cloud city or fell into the gas planet below. Even if Vader went and got it, why would it be in orbit above Tatooine?

I think Bespin is just a completely gaseous planet with no solid surfaces. Still though, every planet has its own gravity (which is why we don't go floating off into space whenever we jump). Luke's falling lightsaber doesn't have enough speed to escape the gravitational pull. It would fall to the center of the gaseous planet, and then it would be stuck there.

But oh well, it's not like Star Wars is accurate when it comes to science. It's a space adventure movie, not a sci-fi movie. There shouldn't be fiery explosions or sound in space either. Also, the science behind a lightsaber is just impossible.

As long as it's not Luke's saber from Cloud City I won't roll my eyes too much.

But it will be because there's no other feasible explanation... unless it was claimed and came from a blown up ship. I don't see the writers spending too much time explaining how a "random" lightsaber showed up on Planet X.

That's my guess.

Spoiler:
Kylo Ren was rumored to be an artifact collector. It could have been lost from his ship and he goes down to the planet to retrieve it. It was also rumored this lightsaber held a crystal that opened an ancient Sith tomb -- so there's a chance it's not Luke's after all (though most reports indicate it is a blue one).

I think it'd be better if it were Leia's lost dildo.

Of course it's company policy never to imply ownership in the event of a dildo... always use the indefinite article "a dildo," never "your dildo."

Could be Vader's lightsaber, flung into space when the Death Star II exploded. Of course whatever planet it falls onto would have to be in the Endor system.

Are lightsabers super-rare in the OT-era? Luke managed to make his own in ROTJ. Even if it was blown through space, how would it survive a jaunt through the atmosphere ?

Yeah, sure those lightsabers are durable... probably could survive a 100-foot drop on hard surface. Maybe more on a sandy slope. It probably would need some repair work. Who knows. I'm sure it's the one with the cross guard. But not really believing the rumor that it just falls out of space.

So that means Anakin used to buy some cheap shit lightsabers. A running gag in Episode II was that he was always breaking and/or losing his lightsabers. Which I felt killed the significance of the lightsaber Obi-Wan gave Luke in Episode IV.

Re: Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015, D: Abrams) S: Hamill, Ford, Fis

After the endless string of concept art descriptions, MSW now seems to be letting the crazy rumors (conflicting or not) fly fast and furious. They now have a report that Luke is

Spoiler:
only in the last scene of the movie and it doesn't sound like he has any lines. So we're supposed to believe Hamill had to lose a ton of weight and grow a hobo beard just for that? I'm not buying it. Anyway:

http://makingstarwars.net/2015/02/st...s-involvement/

We follow our main hero, Rey as she says goodbye to the important players in the film, Leia, Poe, and so on. Meanwhile BB-8, Artoo-Detoo, and See-Threepio decode a puzzle. Rey makes a special stop to say goodbye to Finn in the medical bay.

Rey, Chewbacca, and BB-8 then get into the Falcon and take off. Chewbacca playfully messes up her hair in an endearing gesture. Things are going to be alright, is what the Wookiee is trying to say, as far as I can tell.

I imagine like all Star Wars films, the end is silent with music playing. That’s just my take though. But it seems likely here. They fly away to a new planet and the Falcon lands.

Rey walks up the stone steps. She comes up to a figure and puts the Lightsaber in his hand. Its Luke Skywalker.

The End.
Interesting that does imply Rey inherits the Falcon (and Chewie).
Sounds a lot like that "leaked footage" that popped up on YouTube back in September (and no, I don't think these screencaps are legit).

Spoiler:

Regarding the new lightsaber design:

Spoiler:
There was also a rumor that Kylo made the cross guard saber himself, which is why the blade looks a tad unstable in the trailer: he didn't know how to put one together properly.
