I didn't think anything of it when I saw the movie the first time in the theater. Looked futuristic and "spacey" to me. It was totally an Internet thing afterwards.

I'm no more bothered by JJ's lens flares than I am by Spielberg's actors constantly looking at something off-screen in close-ups.

Actually, the lens flares were one of the few choices I really liked re Abrams Trek. I love (intentional) lens flares. But the comedy is gold.

That's better than looking into the camera in a close up.

Lens flare never bothered me. It was just different from the ST norm that it just got criticized to be criticized.

Of course it was made by a fan. And an illiterate one, apparently.

Hmmm, I actually thought the lens flares were a cool effect in ST. Then I saw the Total Recall remake and all I saw were flares.

Time to open myself up to some criticism:

I don't like Drew Struzan and I love the posters like the one in post 1208 (and the other one with the Jedi in the field and large moons in the sky).

I love Struzan but felt the PT posters were phoning it in(I preferred the teaser posters for all 3). There is a time and place for his work (Indy in his style will always work) but I think they should go a different direction on this new trilogy.

That being said, most theatrical one sheets these days are abysmally generic.

I too like the image above.

They were distracting in Looper, too, and I watched that back to back with Total Recall

Of course this is fake. Darth Vader wasn't evil, he was the hero of the whole saga.

Also, there is more illustrated lens flare on Struzan's prequel posters then J.J. ever put in one of his Star Trek shots.

Don't know if this deserves a separate thread, but AICN is reporting that Lucasfilm is developing a stand alone Yoda movie.
