If they are going for a total reboot and introducing the new batman in a superman sequel... well, I dont know how that is going to work in a 2 hour frame. WB better not fuck this up... =)

Everything in that link sounds terrible. WB is pushing this out way too soon. They're so desperate to be in Marvel's position it's almost pathetic.

I doubt they waste more than a throwaway reference to Batman's past. WB will not waste screen time on Batman's origin in this movie. Are there any humans left over the age of 5 that don't know his origin by now?

For being a brand new, rebooted franchise, it must suck for MAN OF STEEL fans to share screen time with a character who has just had three recent movies of his own. I didn't care for Snyder's results, but I would rather see a stand-alone sequel than relegate Superman as a co-star in a new film.

Never say never. DC is currently retelling Batman's origin in the comics right now, and they are taking 11 freaking issues to do it too (meaning an entire freaking year wasted on another origin story since its one issue per month).

The best work in comics, the best work in superhero movies, the best work in daytime cartoons, the best work in platform gaming is when Batman is solo. It's just so hard to give anyone equal billing with Superman in a world where Superman exists. Risky place to take the franchise.

re: Untitled Superman & Batman Film (2015) (D: Snyder; S: Cavill, Affleck)
The first was Mark Waid's Birthright miniseries in the early 2000s, and the second was Geoff Johns' Secret Origin miniseries after Infinite Crisis in the late 2000s.
Then of course Superman (as well as every other character in the DCU) got yet another origin with the New 52 in 2011.
Batman however is different since Frank Miller's Year One from 1987 was the canon Batman origin up until Scott Snyder's new Zero Year origin story.

Some info about Year Zero:
http://www.comicbookresources.com/?p...ticle&id=44248
Snyder was adamant that he's not trying to replace or replicate "Year One's" greatness. A self-described "Year One" superfan, the writer instead made the case that he and Capullo's story will take a different track and a necessary one considering the streamlined "only been around for five years" continuity of the New 52
Really, this is the foundation for the Batman we've been showing you in "Batman" and in the New 52. One thing I feel I should stress here is that "Year One" is one of my two favorite pieces of graphic literature in the world...the other being "Dark Knight Returns." [Laughs] So I've always considered "Year One" to be Batman's origin, and we tried to keep as much of that as we could in the New 52. But as the stories started rolling forward, I started getting more and more questions about how James [Gordon] Jr. could be an adult now when Batman was only in operation for six years. Or how do we reconcile the fact that Barbara Gordon is now the biological daughter of Jim Gordon with "Year One"? Or do we reconcile the notion that Selina Kyle's background isn't what it was in "Year One" anymore? How can that story stay the origin? There's a different history with the Falcone family and everything. It all becomes a little problematic.

Didn't we just have this same problem with The Amazing Spider-man?

I do not see this a race between Marvel/DC, if they put out great movies people will come.
DC has to make these Event movies:
1. WF (Intergang with Darkseid weapons, end Supes/Bats battle Kalibak and Desaad)
2. JL Part 1 (Need more to battle Darkseid armada. Supes, Bats, WW, Cyborg, Flash, JL)
3. JL Part 2 (Darkseid attacks and JL is there to battle)
4. Man of Steel 2 (Earth does not trust Aliens, Lex is pulling strings with military to kill Supes. Supes great weakness is his vow to never kill again, no matter what.)

I have seen Idris Elba mentioned on wishlists for Batman (no thanks), but since the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern sucked ass, what about transitioning to John Stewart and having Elba play him instead for Justice League? Maybe just have a scene in Batman/Superman where they mention Hal Jordan getting killed or something.

I'm just glad this is separate from Nolan's Batman universe.

Completely agree, but I have seen his name mentioned around the net as well as in the "who should be Batman next" thread on this forum. That is why I wouldn't mind him being worked into this universe but most definitely NOT as Batman.

Batman Vs. Superman Abandons Vancouver For Toronto
Syncopy and Legendary Pictures shot Man of Steel in Vancouver and contributed and estimated $100 million of it’s budgets to the city and her inhabitants. But faster than a speeding bullet, the same two studios are taking the Man of Steel 2/Batman Vs. Superman sequel across the Great White North to Toronto where it’ll be cheaper to film.
The local VanCityBuzz laments: “To date, Premier Christy Clark and the re-elected B.C. Liberals have refused to increase the province’s film credits to a competitive level against those found in Ontario, Louisiana, and even Quebec.”
Quebec, where X-Men Days Of Future Past is set up. Louisiana where Fantastic Four is now set up after also abandoning an estimated $100 million for Vancouver.
Now it’s time for Vancouver to provide stern warnings to states like North Carolina where local politicians have unsuccessfully been trying to strip film incentives from the state.

Batman v Superman director Zach Snyder will have talks in the next few days with the man who first pitched the two superheroes against each other in an iconic comic book tale 30 years ago.
Writer and artist Frank Miller cast an ageing Bruce Wayne against Clark Kent in Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, a series later compiled into a graphic novel, just under 30 years ago.
Snyder’s surprise announcement at the San Diego Comic Con last week that the next Superman movie would for the first time feature both superheroes on screen together was met with huge applause.
The director handed over to Man of Steel actor Harry Lennix who read a passage from Miller’s tale. Batman, an alcoholic who comes out of retirement, stands over a nuclear-blast weakened Superman at the end of their climactic fight and says: “I want you to remember, Clark, in all the years to come… In your most private moments, I want you to remember my hand at your throat. I want you to remember the one man who beat you.”
A Superman logo then appeared on the big screen behind the Warner Bros panel as Batman’s logo was quietly superimposed onto it.
Screenwriter David S Goyer, who co-wrote The Dark Knight trilogy with Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, recently revealed the Superman and Batman film may use a ‘versus’ in the title. Although the film, due out in 2015, will not be adapted from Miller’s work, the use of his words in the announcement led fans to believe Snyder wants the 56-year-old on side.
A source close to Miller, who also has Sin City and 300 sequels in the pipeline, told the Independent: “Frank had no idea the announcement in San Diego was going to happen so it did come as a surprise. He’s going to be meeting up with Zach in the next few days to go over the plans for the Superman film so things should be clearer after that.”
Snyder, who directed Man of Steel, will return for the sequel with Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane also set to reprise their roles.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of the many actors rumoured to be playing the caped crusader as Christian Bale steps down from starring in three Batman movies, all directed by Christopher Nolan who will be executive producer on the new film.
Warner Bros is banking on the success of other recent films that have paired up heroes from the comic book universe, such as superhero ensemble The Avengers in 2012, which made $1.5bn at the worldwide box office. The Dark Knight Rises, with Bale as Batman for the third and supposedly final time, brought in more than $1bn. Snyder’s reimagining of Superman in Man of Steel has grossed $621m worldwide.
Fans that cannot wait for 2015 will at least get to watch the pair in animated toy form as they are brought together in upcoming The Lego Movie.
Miller’s original artwork for the second issue of The Dark Knight Returns is expected to fetch $500,000 at an auction in Dallas next week. The picture of an ageing, bloodied but defiant Batman is one of the definitive images of Miller’s mini-series.

Rumor has it that the next big screen Batman won't be a twenty or thirty-something just starting out in his superhero career, but rather "a grizzled veteran who has been on the job, if you will, for several years."
Batman-on-Film claims that multiple sources have told them Warner Bros. is looking at actors in their 40s to play the Dark Knight Detective in Batman vs. Superman/Man of Steel 2 or whatever the team-up film ends up being titled.
BoF says "fans should start thinking about dudes who are a very good actors and are in their 40s, like… Josh Duhamel, Jude Law, Gerard Butler, Josh Brolin, Jon Hamm, Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, Jim Caviezel, etc."
Affleck is Warner Bros.' golden boy, but is pretty committed to directing now and has already reportedly passed on directing the studio's JLA movie. Also, he's said more than once how burned he felt by his involvement with Daredevil.
Caviezel currently stars on Person of Interest, which just so happens to be produced by Christopher Nolan's brother Jonathan.
Brolin has also made a few films for Warners, including this year's Gangster Squad.
Gerard Butler starred in 300 for Warners and has been on a comeback thanks to this year's sleeper hit Olympus Has Fallen.
Jon Hamm starred in The Town for Affleck and Warners, and the Mad Men star has often been named a fan favorite for different superhero roles.
Duhamel starred in the first three Transformers films, while Brad Pitt is, well, Brad Pitt. 'Nuff said.
Jude Law is an interesting prospect because he already co-starred in Warners' Sherlock Holmes franchise, and he was a frontrunner to play Superman in the Batman vs. Superman film that Wolfgang Petersen almost directed a decade ago. Colin Farrell was the top choice to play Batman then. Law is also a big comic book fan who reportedly sports a tattoo of Rorschach from Watchmen.
