So it takes into account TDKR, but ignores Talia and Bane dying?

Right

Right
The Dark Knight Trilogy takes place on a different, though somewhat similar "Earth" than the one established in MOS. The DC comics pulled this stunt plenty of times. I see no problem with the movies following suit in order to set up a soft reboot to Batman.

Both of these comments in this thread should warrant an immediate ban. Positivity, even tepid, will not be tolerated.

So you'd rather sit through another 2+ hour origin movie for Batman instead of using TDKT as a loose backstory?

And TDKR is the weakest film in the trilogy.

Much less pick and choose which pieces "actually" happened and which pieces didn't. Way too much retcon and setup.

They are basically ripping off the last fifteen years of Batman in the comics. Though Ben Affleck has the perfect look for the Kingdom Come Batman.

The spoiler sounds way too dense in backstory for a Hollywood blockbuster. Studios simply don't write in that much detail for a movie heavily built on VFX. The unwashed masses will get mightily confused by several different members of the Batfamily running around, most of whom have never appeared in a movie.

This sounds more like an early, rough idea that got discarded.

I wonder who they'll eventually get to be Catwoman in these movies. Too bad Antje Traue was already Faora in MOS because she'd make for a sexy and badass Catwoman.

The Dark Knight is the weakest in the trilogy. Dark Knight Rises is the best. All 3 are only moderately good.

I like TDKR the most but it is the weakest one easily.

I think they're all really close in level of quality. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, people tend to elevate TDK because of Ledger's performance.

Agreed. People overrated TDK and underrate TDKR, in my opinion. They're both fine movies.

I think all three are very fine and distinct movies. Begins is your typical super hero origin story. Dark Knight is a super hero crime story. And Rises was more like a terrorist movie. All three are among the best super hero movies ever IMO.

I'd have to rephrase that as:

Seems the thread needs a poll option now: Which was better, The Dark Knight or The Dark Knight Rises?

Answer: They're both good.

I think Batman Begins is the best of the lot.

No need to sit through a 2+ hour origin movie. Parents killed, Bruce becomes Batman. No need to go over how he got the equipment, put together the Batcave, etc. Kind of how Batman '89 did it sans making the villain his parents' killer.

I do think it's the most complete narrative-wise. I love TDK but the pacing is off especially going into the third act.

He'd be great as Gangbuster...
