I think Snake is too young to get that reference.

Ah. Saved by the Bell guy. Yeah. Never cared to watch that show as a kid. I was born in 1986. So when that show mattered...it didn't matter to me. I was into Batman: TAS, Transformers G1 reruns, and the X-Men cartoon. That's all the TV I watched. Otherwise it was old school WWF, whatever Univisión had, and like movies that ran on TV during that show's run.

I once attended a taping of "Sabado Gigante". Years later I saw Don Francisco at a Moroccan restaurant with a cadre of the most stunning Latinas you'd ever want to witness. Now I'm going to boil my face.

You realize Batman is more popular than all Marvel characters put together with the exception of Spider-Man? The bloated Dark Knight Rises had an opening weekend gun massacre and still easily sailed past $1 billion in box office. It's beginning to look like Ben Affleck might be the best Batman ever.

It's a TEASER. You're not supposed to figure anything out other than something is hitting the screens.

I think it is still waaay too early to make that call, but even if he is, it could still be a concern. All of the rumors and released images so far point to him being and old, worn out, burned out, possibly retired Batman. It sounds much more like an alternate universe graphic novel version of the character than an ongoing continuity version.

How is this version of Batman going to lead the Justice League?

Re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

My line of thought on it is by the time this is out team up films will have already been done twice over by Marvel who also didn't just throw a bunch of characters together and expect people to care. The build up helped a lot in my opinion. This will probably still do good but I don't think it's going to be a smash hit that breaks records.
The difference was that Marvel really had no choice. If they were going to be doing an Avengers movie they had to introduce those characters because they were not really well known to mainstream audiences. Thor had not been seen since The Incredible Hulk Returns. Iron Man hadn't been seen since a short lived 90's cartoon. Captain America hadn't been seen since a straight to video movie in 1990.

Everyone already knows about Batman and Superman. They don't need any introduction. Wonder Woman being in it is another selling point But most will be coming for Batman and Superman. I could easily see this breaking opening weekend records. But they also need to wake up and either push it forward or push it back. No reason to sabotage themselves trying to compete against Marvel.

Speaking of which...I'd really like to see a Batman Beyond movie at some point.

Yeah honestly I agree. I know that the film isn't a direct adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns but it's looking more and more like it's taking a lot of inspiration from that particular story. An older Batman just seems like a really odd place for DC to start their new version of the character and the Justice League to me.

While it might be true that it was more necessary for Marvel to build up their individual characters beforehand there's not a doubt in my mind that doing so absolutely worked in favor of The Avengers. I've said it before many times but it really looks like DC is just throwing things together and hoping that it works out and has no clear plan in mind. That's what bothers me. I'm more of a DC fan and to have the first real attempt at an expanded universe just being a hodge podge of characters thrown together with no clear direction bothers me.

Re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

Ah, old, crabby Batman can work, it's not like Affleck is Batman Beyond-age Batman or anything. Batman's inclusion in the Justice League has been, at times, a rather grumpy old man kinda way of looking at things anyway, what with all the poorly trained, brightly garbed targets jumping headfirst into battle and being overly dependent on super powers (hey, there's no GL yet, right?). He needs to be the experienced one, anyway. Hasn't he been established in the new 52 as predating a lot of the other heroes?

They really do have a built in story with Batman disapproving of Superman's methods/results with how Man of Steel ended.

So he will be like Batman in TDKR? Hopefully Batfleck isn't written so stupidly that he puts on Kryptonite gloves yet never tries to hit Superman once.
