I may be iffy on this based on things have rolled along for it but a Bats meeting Supes movie is going to be a big deal. Cuz it's two of the most recognized things in pop culture media coming together in a live action film. That's kind of a big deal.

Saying that... The clip is very cool but very out context. One could only guess so far what leads to that extreme of an encounter. Sure maybe humanity is iffy on Supes cuz of what happened in MoS. but what exactly makes Bats take charge of their encounter based on that teaser? Maybe it is an actual clip or maybe it's just an actual teaser.

If it's just an out-of-continuity teaser, they dropped the ball by not including a Batfleck voiceover where he says "now you have to deal with both of us."

Based on what? Man of Steel's numbers? C'mon - Avengers had a slew of popular movies leading directly to it. This movie has one that received a mixed reception at best.

I'm definitely not going to say it will pass The Avengers, but I don't think you can just count MoS as leading into this film. Even though it's a reboot of the Batman franchise, so many people are still hungry for more Dark Knight.

How can you not just count Man of Steel as the only lead in to this film? That's literally the only thing tied into this film's continuity at this point. Just because people are familiar with Batman on screen we haven't seen Affleck's version on screen before this and I think people who are expecting something in line with the version of Batman from The Dark Knight Trilogy are going to be disappointed frankly.

MoS is TECHNICALLY the only lead in to this film, but come on, you can't believe there isn't an overwhelming pent up demand for this movie.

Besides, I STILL have to explain to some people that the Christian Bale Batman films have nothing to do with the Michael Keaton ones. People will flock to this movie no matter what. It has nothing to do with whether there was a Wayne Enterprises satellite in a previous movie for .489 seconds, or Batman didn't have another origin story to explain the new actor.

Unless they pull a Batman and Robin, Warner Bros. can expect to back up the trucks for this one. (I'm not the one saying it will pass The Avengers, just that it will make serious bank)

Yeah. This'll make a lot of money. To not think that is stupid. It COULD pull Avengers' kind of bank but even if it doesn't... It'll still make a lot.

I don't get the mentality that this can't make more bank than Avengers because it didn't have 400 lead-in movies building up to it. It's Batman and Superman in a movie together...if it's done well people are going to see it again and again. It's not like someone is going to say "you know what, I was gonna check out Batman v. Superman for a third time but there weren't that many lead-in movies for it so I think I will pass".

I think it will do well at the box office, but "if it's done well" is the key for me. I don't have a whole lot of confidence in Zack Snyder. I actually think Dawn of the Dead was his best directing job and it's all been uneven at best since then.

My line of thought on it is by the time this is out team up films will have already been done twice over by Marvel who also didn't just throw a bunch of characters together and expect people to care. The build up helped a lot in my opinion. This will probably still do good but I don't think it's going to be a smash hit that breaks records.

Are you saying that Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor have different audiences? I think Batman has much more mass appeal than Superman. I love Batman but am not very interested in Superman as a character. Batman's presence in this film should attract more people than MOS 2 would, and I think that's why most of the news/rumors about this project have revolved around Batman.

Yeah if the film does really big numbers in my opinion it's more or less due to Batman. Superman is fairly popular but I don't think he has nearly the same amount as mass appeal as Batman or even a lot of the solo characters Marvel has built up.
