I think he's going to make a fantastic Batman. He got this very rugged look now.

I enjoyed Daredevil.

Except that this isn't going to be a Superman only movie. It may be the first sequel to Man of Steel technically but the film is Superman & Batman after all (or whatever the final title ends up being) so even if it is the case that he gets higher billing big deal.

Aside from that fact this is a completely different situation and I think all parties involved (Warner, DC, Affleck, etc.) know what they're doing now whereas when Batman & Robin was made it was a safe movie made for kids for the sole purpose of selling toys.

I'm ok with Ben as Batman, but if he co-directs then I be really happy

They should get Jeremy Renner as a deranged Robin:

It will be interesting to see if he'll direct a solo Batman movie...

In any case, not happy but will reserve judgement. I am surprised to see he took the role, however.

How much more expensive could Bale have possibly been to guarantee success.

re: Untitled Superman & Batman Film (2015) (D: Snyder; S: Cavill, Affleck)

I think I'm just going to stay off Twitter for a few days as all I'm seeing are stale Gigli and Good Will Hunting jokes from 2003 and 1997 respectively... Affleck's done solid enough acting work that I'm willing to give him benefit of the doubt. Surprised after the very solid work he's done in the past decade that it's open season on Affleck for this announcement. But I guess a lot of online pundits just take the kneejerk reaction every time...

Interesting. I figured they'd get another Cavill equivalent (good looking guy, has been in a few movies) but this is a pretty big move.

That said, I've never gotten the hate for Affleck. He always seems like a decent guy, he works hard and he's a great actor and director. Still, surprised he'd step into this but I'm willing to see what happens!

Seriously, it's fucking Batman. People need to calm down. Ben is a competent actor and I'm sure he will be fine as long as the script doesn't suck ass. I love Bale, but his Batman voice was so terrible that it inspired a complete series of college humor spoofs.

I don't think Bale was the reason those movies were so successful, at least not enough to think his casting would guarantee success for this film.

Not a fan of the choice, BUT, considering the actors on "the so called official list of actors" this is a better pick than all of those actors.

Bring it the fuck on. The nobility of Tony Mendez from Argo and the intensity of Doug Mcray from the Town. There's your new Bats.

My first issue was shoehorning Batman into a Superman sequel. My second issue is this will be directed by Zack Snyder. At this point I'm just feeling like this:

I think that The Dark Knight Trilogy was a perfect storm of a lot of things but I think it's unfair to discredit Bale's part. He was pretty universally liked in the role by both casual fans and the more hardcore fans. He was overall damn good in both his role as Bruce and Batman and I think people would have loved to have seen him back. The problem with that would have been not being able to tie that universe to the new DC film universe.

re: Untitled Superman & Batman Film (2015) (D: Snyder; S: Cavill, Affleck)

I think (hope) his part will be a small one in essentially a Man of Steel movie... but I think it's a long term thing as well.... like I said earlier...10+ yrs. Basically what Eastwood did with Dirty Harry at WB... Affleck already had an office at the studio... this cements his stature with them. Probably opens his choice of directing gigs too.

Creatively...while I was initially a bit let down... a few hours later I can almost envision it...almost. If he keeps the smirk for Bruce Wayne and plays Batman serious... it could work.

One of my sister's was all like, "they should have cast Gabriel Macht as Batman." I had to remind her of The Spirit. She's a big fan of Suits, so I understand.

Bale was the second biggest reason after Nolan for the DK trilogy's overwhelming success.

Ben Affleck is a solid choice. I assume he signed up for a package of films, leading to a Justice League movie. He can look a bit younger than his actual age in some roles.
