How far into their shooting schedule are they? I'm curious since the Batmobile doesn't appear to be completely done yet.

I think they just started shooting like a month ago. It was supposed to be sooner but then got a delay for whatever reason, not sure if it was ever said why (script work, Affleck injury, etc).

First image of Gal Gadot shooting. Looks like she really beefed up for the role and that training has done an amazing job in changing her physical appearance to resemble Wonder Woman. Riiiigggggghhhhhtttttttt.......
And so just as the first image of Batman and the Batmobile surface my hope for this movie goes up....now it goes back down. If there was a weak element in this movie (other than Laurence Fishburne who i believe to be one of the worst actors in movies these days....Network Zuckerberg i will cut a break as i am curious to see what he does with Luthor), it was certainly this actress.

Don't worry, they're gonna put her in a muscle-suit and she'll look even more buffed than Afleck.

In that picture I posted she's so tall (over 6'0") and lanky.
I think she got a very pretty face for Wonder Woman and her smile is amazing. It's just her body that is too thin.
Who would have been your first choice?

She wouldn't have been my first choice for WW either. I mean there are so many real life Amazonian women running around the planet I just can't believe they chose here.

Oh, interesting. A debate about the casting of Wonder Woman. Finally we're breaking some new ground in this thread!

I actually didn't even take place in the thread where everyone was bitching about her being cast. I don't hate the casting (actually the casting of the film aside from Eisenberg I haven't complained about much at all) but I'm just saying she probably wouldn't have been my first choice just by her looks. I sorta like Gemma Arterton personally. She seems to have the look a bit more if you ask me.

Neither would Batman, or the tumbler, for that matter. That's the major point of comic book superhero movies that Nolan didn't seem to get. Make them too grounded in "reality" and it makes it more difficult to suspend disbelief for the impossible superhero moments, plus it makes many of those moments seem more absurd and out of place.
Batman doesn't live in our world. He lives in a world where superheroes can exist and survive.

What all these Nolan-ized films have in common, and where they deviate from the Donner Superman- is in their attitude. They trade in an angry attitude (tone) because the the majority of people that tend to buy super-hero comics now, as well as the people that wouldn't be caught dead in a comic book store but who go ga-ga for these movies- both of these audiences groove on angry, mean spirited power fantasies.
Saying this shit approaches realism at all, when it falls apart under the most basic if-then-therefore kind of rumination, is really just an attempt to rationalize something that is pretty silly, but whose angry attitude (tone) and testosterone swagger makes it palatable. Just look at how many guys love the superficial military fetishism (hardware, uniforms, destruction!), but who reject the idea of giving any thought to the political/real world implications of all this power on display.

I was actually hoping that was where TDKR was going, a more critical look at Batman (his stockpiling of weapons to fight crime are what allow the League of Assassins to take over the city), but alas, such was not to be.

I'm coming to the growing conclusion that there isn't any way around the fascism of the superhero genre, and if there is, it just isn't compatible with a Hollywood ending.

Some movies work with the serious tone, others don't. Sometimes two out of three movies in a given franchise work with a serious tone, while the third doesn't.

Superheroes were always an adolescent male power fantasy. The general culture has gotten coarser and nastier since the first superhero movies appeared, which has taken modern comic fantasies to the darkest corners of the teen male's inner psyche.

Yes. No question about that. But the older I get, the less tolerant- or better yet, amused- I am with content that panders to that mentality.
