I think the Oscars spoiled Gone Girl...
I haven't seen it yet! i bought it but haven't watched it yet, was going to watch it soon!
And i think it was spoiled twice! I didn't get fully understand Neil Patrick Harris' first jab at the movie since i think i was doing something else but when they show the clip for Rosamund for Best Actress there's a scene that wasn't in the trailers at all and she's talking about how she's not dead anymore etc etc.
WTF OSCARS?!
I know it's my own damn fault for not seeing it yet, but really? this early?
it's not like it was a GIANT blockbuster grossing 500 million domestic that everyone and their mothers saw..
I was looking forward to watching it, i still will but sucks the twist has been spoiled.

I got 22 of 24 picks correct. I missed on Score as I took Imitation Game, and Actor, in which I went for an upset selection of Cooper.
This was easily the worst show I've seen. NPH was awful and again, way, way, way too much singing.
Once Birdman won for Screenplay, that was a big hint it was going to be the big winner. Very happy to see Whiplash take home 3 awards. Birdman also snaps the long 33 year streak of the Best Picture winner needing an Editing nomination.

There are some things to understand about the Academy Awards. First, they are voted on by members of the "Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences". To get in, you need to be referred, or win an Oscar. There are around 5000 people voting.
The Academy Awards was originally started to promote films. It was like good PR and advertising to get people to go see Wings. That still comes through today. It's just a lot less relevant because anyone can keep up with movies through the media and internet. So it's a balance of what the members THINK you should be watching. And the members themselves are being catered to and casually persuaded to vote a certain way.
I thought the best joke of the night was about the $160k gift bags, and preparing for when the revolution comes.

I watched until JK finished his speech for Best Supporting Actor and then turned it off. It's been painful to watch for a number of years now. Glad to see love for GHB and Whiplash. Even happier to see Boyhood lose best pic, Linklater lose best Director and Stone lose best actress. Linklater deserves a win, but not for this movie. Dreadful piece of crap. And Stone gave at best an average performance. I did like Birdman....but best picture???? Whiplash or GHB should have won.

I didn't think Neil Patrick Harris was terrible, but he wasn't great either. The two best jokes of the night were both about Travolta.
I missed a lot of the nominated films this year, so really didn't have a rooting interest in anything. I really need to see Whiplash, Birdman, and The Theory of Everything soon.

Next year could see some major competition for Best Director: Spielberg (St. James Place), Scorsese (Silence), and Iñárritu (The Revenant). Although there's a chance Silence doesn't get released this year.
Also, maybe Jake Gyllenhaal will finally get his deserved Actor nomination for Southpaw.
I think this year will have much better films that what we got in 2014.

Chris Pine, Chris Evans and Chris Pratt. At least Pine looks different from the others. When both Evans and Pratt were announced and came out for their respective presenting gigs, my first thought at seeing each come out on stage was, "Why is Bradley Cooper coming out, they didn't announce him?" but then when we got a good angle I could see they weren't Bradley Cooper. But if you showed me pix of Evans and Pratt and asked me to I.D. them, I wouldn't be able to do it.

While I will never watch the theory of everything, I'm not saying that actor didn't deserve the oscar but I will say that Michael Keaton's performance in birdman rivals any type of performance this year regardless of the efforts of others. I honestly at times was questioning if Keaton lost his damn mind for real in that film - just a great performance.

...more importantly for the celebrity-obsessed, he made his first red carpet appearance with his new girlfriend, Christina Sandera.

Kirk Cameron needs to make a film about a retarded man who asks Jesus why he is different than most people. Automatic Oscar for next year.
