House of Dark Shadows (1970) - Moody, bloody, and genuinely frightening, it's hands-down my favorite vampire film (and you don't have to have seen the TV show to enjoy it).

Perhaps it is, but I've never seen it appear on any reputable list of the best comedy films of all time. It seems to be perennially overshadowed by Blake Edwards's other movies starring Peter Sellers, particularly A Shot in the Dark.

If you've got a link to its appearance on a "best comedy films" list, please share--I'd love to find out which critics agree with me.

...which may well be one of the reasons why it's underappreciated. For those who take the time to actually watch the film before taking umbrage at Sellers's brownface, they'll find a wonderful performance that makes the character of Hrundi V. Bakshi a very relatable Everyman rather than a racial stereotype or joke.

Perhaps that list is only in my mind, and I'm far from reputable.

Honestly, though, I really do think of it as a classic.

Googling "classic comedy of the 60s," it appears in the list google puts up, as well as the second list in the results, with this comment: Why is The Party among the greatest comedies of the 1960s? It is widely considered a comic masterpiece and an influential classic cult film.

I saw that movie on a 70mm screen that wrapped around the sides of the audience. It was extremely cool to see like that, especially the land rush scene.

Can any movie with SIX sequels currently for sale on VUDU really be called under-appreciated?
I just don’t see it mentioned as a “best comedy in years” like I think it should be. And it has a mostly female cast too.

It's as regarded and quotable as Mean Girls.

"Near Dark"? More like, "Near-Impossible to Find on Streaming". Seriously, I've been trying to watch it for like 3 Octobers straight and can never find it, even to rent. I know a few Bigelow and Cameron movies have weird rights issues.

It was on The Criterion Channel last October.

Wasn't there talk of a 4K remaster from Studio Canal getting a release though?

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The last Spielberg film I truly enjoyed, although I know I'm in a tiny minority. I don't think I've ever encountered anyone else who liked it.

I own the Blu-ray and don’t hate it. There’s actually a few really good parts to it. The opening warehouse sequence rivals anything in the original Indy trilogy and it’s great to see Marion back. I don’t even mind Shia Labeouf or the “Nuke the fridge” scene.

Since this is the under appreciated thread, I’ll leave it at that - without going into the parts I dislike.

Winter’s Bone…I think people forget JLaw is in this and one of first, if not first. Even though dark and depressing I have an affinity for this movie and watched several times already.

I absolutely love that movie. Loved the book as well, which has an even sadder ending, if you can believe that.

The Terminal with Tom Hanks

Maybe this belongs in the unpopular opinion thread but I thought it was a good movie.
