It's on cable all the time now. And it was a huge hit at the time and captured the zeitgeist of Webcam and live streams as they were first becoming popular online.

Red Rock West is a great film noir and, IMO, much better than the similar styled Blood Simple, which despite being a “classic” Coen Bros. film, just isn’t very good.

Yea it is. I can't get enough of that surrealism. Atlanta did great with it too.
I thought Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers and Beach Bum hit some amazing notes. But nobody seemed to really care, and many thought they were terrible. I look forward to what he does next.

I love that movie. I haven't seen it in over a decade at least though so I don't recall the movie ending but you have me intrigued about the book now. I put it on the list to check for the next time I'm at Half-Price Books.

Searching for Bobby Fischer. It wasn't a box office hit, it had a modest $12M dollar budget but failed to make its money back. It doesn't replay on tv. Should easily be one of the classic movies shown all the time on TBS or TNT like Shawshank Redemption. Buried in a pretty substantial year of films in 1993 (best cinematography nomination). And yet it has a 100% RT score. And it's a great story and I love its message. Should have been replaying when Queen's Gambit came out. Yeah, most know it here, but I think it would benefit the general public to have it in their wheelhouse.

Kenneth Branagh's In The Bleak Midwinter is one of my favorite comedies about the theatre, wonderfully capturing the feeling of excitement and comradery of rehearsing and putting on a play. It's funny, it's got lots of great familiar British actors, and pleasing black-and-white photography.
I used to have it on VHS (retitled to "A Midwinter's Tale"). I was lucky enough to see its premier at TIFF, but sadly, it didn't get much of a release. None of my friends have seen it.

Romeo Is Bleeding. Has a great, hopeless, sun-soaked noir feel, but fits right in with the ultra-violent QT ethos bubbling around at the time. I envision myself ending up how Oldman does in this movie, some day, and often when I'm working hard for that American Dollar I think about 'feeding the hole.'

I've been on a 70's kick lately, watching pretty much everything released that decade. I was too young to see most at the time. One that stood out was "The Late Show" with Art Carney and Lily Tomlin. Terrific movie that I never hear anyone talk about anyone. I'll also add "The Big Bus", that I just got on Blu Ray. Such a fun film.

Spy Game…just a brilliant little thriller with 2 great actors, 1 badass director (rip) and it seems to never be talked about. I love this movie.
