Re: Tulsa King (Paramount+) - EP: Sheridan, Winter, S: Stallone - premieres 11/13/22

I hope Grillo gets more screentime than the regulars Dana Delany and Garrett Hedlund, they were underused.

I cannot tell you which thread, but I read it here too, without spoiler tags.

Re: Movies with long sequences that feel like they could be part of a separate movie

I still know the first time I watched From Dusk Till Dawn. My parents had a party with their friends and I didn't want to participate, since I was the only teenager. We rented 5 movies for the...

Re: Thunderbolts (2025, D: Schreier)

I really want this to be good, but I've lost all faith in the MCU, too many duds in the last couple of years. Florence Pugh is very sympathatic though.

Re: In Memoriam...Louis Gossett Jr. (1936-2024)

An Officer and Gentleman was his career best and giving is long career he wasn't in a lot good stuff, but there are a few other roles I really liked, A Gathering of Old Men, Enemy Mine, Diggstown and...

Re: Mayor of Kingstown (Paramount +) - S: Jeremy Renner - From EP Taylor Sheridan - 11/14/21

These days we're waiting 2 or 3 years for new seasons and on those shows the lead actor wasn't destroyed by a snow plow. So yeah, it's pretty amazing. I'm happy for him for being alive and happy for...

Re: Asphalt City Sean Penn, Tye Sheridan, Mike Tyson, and Kali Reis 3/29/2024

Cancelling in the most cases is used to feel morally superior, it hasn't really a lot to do with the canceled person and I don't think the same people who think Armie Hammer should never work again,...

Re: Asphalt City Sean Penn, Tye Sheridan, Mike Tyson, and Kali Reis 3/29/2024

Hammer was only one example of someone who didn't really do something or at least wasn't convicted. Mike Tyson is a convicted rapist and he's not even an actor. So why does Hollywood embrace him, but...

Re: Spider-Man 4 - S: Holland

It sure was, but at it's core it was a silly euro trip movie. Does anyone really think a market in the Netherlands is set 200 years ago with goats running around?

Re: Spider-Man 4 - S: Holland

Sony did pretty well with the Spider-Man movies. Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 weren't that great but neither was Far From Home. The Spider-Verse movies are geat. Sony fails with...

Re: Manhunt: Unabomber (Discovery) -- S: Sam Worthington, Paul Bettany, Chris Noth

The Unabomber is more of a side character, the show focuses on the investigators doing the manhunting.

Re: Movies with long sequences that feel like they could be part of a separate movie

Orion and the Dark starts out as a pretty sophisticated movie about anxiety disorder, made for a younger audience and turns into a weird adventure with a message more or less saying, if you face your...

Re: Spider-Man 4 - S: Holland

Sony has probably some kind of veto power, so that Marvel doesn't sabotage the character.

Re: Poor Things (2023, D: Lanthimos) S: Stone, Ruffalo, Dafoe

He had already seen her tits in their previous colaboration and they aren't that great. Anyway why was there no reason for her to lurch around like a 2-year-old? She was for a short part of the...

Re: Alien: Romulus (2024, D: Alvarez, P: Scott)

I think that's true for a lot of remakes of Horror cult classics. Most of those classics had no production values, often pretty bad actors, but that added to a form of realism which made them scarier.

Re: Road House - remake (2024, D: Liman) S: Gyllenhaal

He pitched up his voice and his accent for the role and the walk is something he does before and after his fights, some kind of signature move.

Re: Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024, D: Arbi / Fallah)

I expected the last one to be terrible, but overall it was pretty decent. I didn't like the "twist" with Mike's son, but that's about it. My biggest fear was that they were making a team movie with...

Re: Poor Things (2023, D: Lanthimos) S: Stone, Ruffalo, Dafoe

Yes, The Favourite isn't that far off of other period pieces, but I don't see Lanthimos as the perfect fit for an mainstream action movie based on a first person shooter. The only connection is the...

Re: Poor Things (2023, D: Lanthimos) S: Stone, Ruffalo, Dafoe

I don't see how Lanthimos' style translates to a mainstream audience. His movies aren't that accessible and while I liked them so far, I think watching them is kind of strenuous.
