Anybody else think the whole "first results" thing is very suspicious? I think it could totally be made up. The concert show is actually filmed on Monday. So they film Brooke saying her blurb. I find it hard to believe that on Tuesday night when they show it, they bother to actually tally 3 minutes of East coast voting to flash on the screen!

The last contestants perform, Brooke says voting can begin, and we cut to commercial. Then she comes back and shows the early results -- that's 5 minutes tops. I think they're doing it to PUSH voting -- fans of those in the bottom 3 shown may scramble. (Isn't one of their biggest sponsors getting money from the text messaging votes?)

I'm sure that is the reason, but suspicious might be a strong word to describe what is really just a different form of promotion. What they're doing is no different than going on and on about voting all during the course of the show. They are constantly pushing voting, same as American Idol. I thought you were trying to infer they were fabricating the early results.

I do lot of polling, both online and live in large meetings, where I've taken the results from the polling system and plopped them into an Excel file to create customized displays of the results as they come in. It's a snap, as long as you've set everything up properly ahead of time.

Has anyone downloaded any of the songs from Music.MSN.com? I tried to download Jordis' "The Man Who Sold The World" but I get an error. FYI, Each song is 99 cents.

so are the performances shortened/edited on tv, or do the rockers just perform shortened versions of the songs?
Marty's Mr. Brightside left out a lot. was just wondering if it was his decision to cut it, or if they all have a certain time limit on the song or something.

Next week, "Rock Star:INXS" goes acoustic, putting an additional challenge on the Rockers. Every vocal imperfection will be heard. Be sure to check in at Rockstar.msn.com for all the recaps and other news about the show.

I too was amazed Suzie was in the bottom 3. I really dug her performance as well as Mig's and Marty's the other night so I was shocked.
She did tear it up on "Bitter Tears" and she has once again proved she can do INXS songs justice.
Brandon was the right one to send home. He belongs in a Black Crowes cover band or something.

No different than Oasis basically using the same riff in Wonderwall and D'Ya Know What I mean (IIRC, it may have been a different Oasis song that used the riff again)

Anyone watch this last night on VH1? I didn't think I could dislike JD anymore. I will be honest and say that his song was the best of the 3 though. He is just a complete ass.

I was actually on JD's side through the whole songwriting clinic. That song Jordis had sucked ass. I'm notg sure why Marty picked it, other than he has the hots for Jordis. They really should have listened to JD, his song was great. I could sympathize with his frustration at not being heard.

I will admit that JD's song was the better of the 3. I thought STOP GO was horrible, well at least the part when they were singing "STOP GO". no one liked it. Dave didn't, INXS didn't (even said it was corny when they were out to dinner), and the other rockers were laughing when they sang it. But they had fun doing it, and were able to cooperate.
at first, I thought JD was being a punk. but Jadzia is right. they were just giving him lip service when it came to his song, and not actually giving it a chance. "yeah, it's good, but this is better." "yeah, i heard it, but i don't like it".
They didn't like that it was specific? what the hell does that mean? they didn't like the driving metaphors?
BUT, he could have handled it differently. He was too quick to bow out and do his own thing (or so it appeared). Like marty said, was it just a shrewd move to get his own time with his own song in front of Dave and the INXS guy?

Yeah, Jordis' song was terrible. They kept complaining about the lyrical content in JD's song, but at least his flowed with the music correctly. Jordis' version just sounded like a rambling dialogue that completely ignored the music it was supposed to go with.
I didn't think the "Stop Go" song was actually that bad in and of itself, but watching all four in Ty's group perform it is what made it seem cheesy, IMO. They were giving off a musical vibe (sorry Ty). I think it would've been a bit better with only one singer going at it.

yeah, the rest of the song sounded decent. but that STOP GO harmonizing chorus was over the top.
and yes, you described jordis' song perfectly. just rambling over the music, without actually following the music.

JD might have had the best song, but if the exercise was really about how good they are at working collaboratively with others, he definitely lost. They even called him on sitting out of the group performance. Even if he didn't really like the song, he should have supported the team's decision. He made a point of NOT doing that, and I'm sure that will come back to haunt him. As someone said, you may be a great musician, but you also have to be a part of the band. For JD, it's always all about JD and no one else.
