As far as being able to use computers, as a scientist working on this level of experimentation, I am quite sure he was using computers in 1992, prior to his introduction to the asylum. And computers, for the most part, have remained relatively the same since that time.
(Yes, I realize that a lot of advancements and such have brought the personal computing age along quite a good deal, but someone who was using them heavily in the early '90's would have no problem making the slight adjustment necessary. It's not as if he was searching a definitive release date for Chinese Democracy, or anything like that...)

I didn't think it was too great, but it has potential. I'll watch a few more episodes anyways.
Hopefully they delve more into the characters and make them more interesting. Apart from the elder Bishop, they felt rather generic.

I really liked it. It had alot of qualities of a major feature film. I can see they spent alot of the $10M budget on locations, special effects and graphics.
As some have mentioned it has alot of X-Files-like qualities. The opening sequence in the plane was quite suspenseful.
For anyone who was a fan of Journeyman, I don't know if you noticed, but the Pilot was directed by Alex Graves, who directed alot of Journeyman's episodes.
I also like Anna Torv as Olivia. She has alot of Cate Blanchett-like qualities looks-wise. I can see that they could have casted anyone of the thousands of blonde actresses in Hollywood. But, I am actually glad they went with an unknown. She can only grow as the season progresses. I'm just concerned with the money and promotion this show has been getting from FOX that the ratings may not be good enough. 9M viewers for a series premiere isn't bad by any means, but serialized/episodic sc-fi is a tough sell for a casual TV viewer.

That looked like the same isolation tank that was used by William Hurt in Altered States.
I know a reason was given in advance, but did the cow actually do anything, or simply stand around as an impartial observer? (I'll always think of this as the Elsie Goes To College episode.)
Not bad, worth watching in the coming weeks, but not really excited by it yet.

I enjoyed the pilot and I'm in for watching it regularly. Although, this show has more X-Files elements than Lost elements. Oh, wait, what's this?

Yeah, except those were both shows I loved that ended up going nowhere--like Lost, and I am sure this one is no different. Everyone who gets excited because this is a JJ Abrams show--that's exactly what makes me reluctant to commit to it.

Just an FYI, if you missed it last night, it re-airs on Sunday at 8pm, but in a 2 hour form instead.

Just watched it and it was really weak. This is my preferred genre and I found it far more annoying than anything. The writing session must have gone something like this:
Let's have some unreasonably hostile men call her honey and sweetheart over and over to accentuate that she's a woman struggling in a man's world! lame. Let's have her get some half insane scientist out of an asylum and then let him dictate setting up his old abandoned lab that is still mostly unused space at Harvard housing most of his old equipment after 17 years !? and then convince her to let him shoot her up full of drugs. That is beyond lame it's ridiculous. And the insane thing? Well, mostly let that go after his first introduction and just have him be sort of sad and distracted after that but still able to perform cutting edge science. ugh. (The main actress really doesn't bother me. She did reasonably well with poorly developed material.) Oh, and let's have a tragic love interest plot in the first episode. Haven't seen that before and cheese gives me more tender feelings than the two of them did! Who cares? Make sure to have a lot of cool sets and babble a lot of pseudo-science and make smug references to "things that you just don't what you're getting into but now you can't turn back!" lame! Well, visually it was pretty cool. I'll stop now.
I really can't believe JJ Abrams had much to do with this. He probably only had the idea, which is a pretty good one, and that's all. I'll give it a chance for a few more episodes but I can't believe this will last a full season. Then again, they only cancel the good fringe shows right away.

Mark me in the underwhelmed category. So many parts of it were so contrived I had trouble looking past it. Since the pilot obviously to cover a lot of ground getting the pieces in place for the whole season, I'll give it a few more episodes to see if it can hit its stride.
Right now I'm getting a strong Bionic Woman vibe from it. It makes me really appreciate how well X-Files pulled off these types of stories.

Meh.
Didn't like the lead actress. She was OK, but when in scenes with the black dude from The Wire she looked way out of her league. Plus I agree the whole "honey" "sweetie" thing was overdone too.
Count me in the category of giving it one more week.

Was annoyed with the large text indicating the locations. But overall Pilot was good! The intro was icky-horror fun.
