A perfect, fitting ending for the character IMO.

That brings up another thought: I've realized during the past couple of seasons just how many scenes in Lost have had characters pointing guns at one another or someone else. Always with the gunplay, even when clearly immune supernatural elements are involved. I'd like to go back when it's over and run a tally of how many times guns were pointed at someone across the series.

Ok, the two week break put me in a state of confusion. Sawyer is with Locke, no he is with Widmore, no he is back with Locke, no he doesn't trust Locke.
Why did Jack get in the sub if he was going to stay?
What did Jack mean when he said they wouldn't die? Did Sawyer cause the explosion by disarming the bomb?
If Locke wanted to get them all in one location to kill them, why did he tell them about the C4 on the plane?
What happened to Miles and Ben? I can't remember if they were still with Locke's group. Locke said his group is all dead.
With that said, what an amazing episode. Definitely felt like I was watching a high budget movie and not a tv show. Locke is just so cold and evil, snapping people's necks and running into bullets with a smile. Oh and Bernard sure has a kind face. I want him to be my dentist lol

Because Locke doesn't want to be with them when they discover the C4. He doesn't want to die with them. Although, the explosion might not have hurt him? Hmm.

I think Sayid realized that the MiB wasn't going to fulfill his promise to Sayid when he found himself stuck on a sub with the MiB's bomb on it. Even beyond the Desmond thing, I'd say the Sayid/MiB alliance ended right there.

I have no idea how this would work out in 3 episodes... but any chance the "Kwon" name in the cave is referring to the daughter? ![Stick Out Tongue](/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
I teared up. I always liked Sun and Jin's story.
And Sayid was ALWAYS about redemption. His whole life was filled with guilt. He did the right thing. I think it was a good episode.
And am I the only one NOT interested in the Jacob/MIB episode? Those are not characters I care about.

They're with Richard, supposedly on their way to Hydra to destroy the plane. I'm sure they'll pop out of the bushes soon to warn everybody about something.

Sawyer isn't with either of them. He's been playing them both to get to the sub.
We'll probably never know for sure, but I would guess that Sawyer caused the explosion by pulling the wires. If he had done nothing, it would not have exploded.

Jack realized that the island/Jacob would not let them die by MiB's hand, but they could harm themselves by acting incorrectly. So if they had just sat there and done nothing, something would have happened to save them. (Detonator fails, timer battery dies, etc.) Sort of like what happened when Richard tried to suicide by dynamite. So yes, Sawyer caused the explosion, by messing with the timer.
Or is the important thing intent? Richard tried to kill himself but couldn't. Sawyer tried to save them and almost ended up killing them instead. Of course, Sayid did try to kill himself and succeeded (although it was a sacrifice play).

I like the little echoes of past moments showing up in the alternate timeline. There are some obvious ones (how many alterna-characters are going to say "What happened, happened?" this season?), but also more subtle ones like Jack's "I wish you'd listen to me" to Locke, and Locke's small pause of recognition.
And regarding Jin and Sun, has everyone forgotten the moment earlier in the episode when they specifically discussed the child being left in the good care of Sun's mother? Maybe that's not sufficient for some people, but at least they addressed it and wrapped it up.

Re: Lost -- "The Candidate" -- 05/04/10
So I think it's now pretty clear how Lost is going to play out. The "alternate" timeline where everyone is still alive (and Sun/Jin are happily awaiting the birth of their daughter) is going to be the final reality and will give us our happy ending. The island timeline is going to be erased and the island will disappear/be destroyed. I'm not sure how all that's going to happen and I wouldn't care to guess at this point but I'm pretty sure that Desmond will play a major role. Basically we're going to get a Newhart ending -- it was all a dream -- albeit a little bit more complicated than that.
I usually react strongly to emotionally charged events like Sun/Jin dying, but I think I actually yawned last night during this scene. The writers really screwed the pooch with the way they've constructed this season. We know that everyone is still alive in the other timeline so there is little to no emotional impact when a major character dies.

They will all end up alive and well in some sort of time swap/reversal thing by the end of the season. I'm guessing mix of reality and the flash-sideways. Either way, this season has been quite a let down for me. Once they introduced Jacob and MIB, it was over. I really don't care about them and they are never really explained. Also, the temple stuff sucked hard. It was still interesting last season with Faraday and the time travel stuff at least.
