re:3 THANK you! I actually got upset that it seemed like such crappy writing. Why try to stab everyone as opposed to poison or pillow the face when you're running a coverup.

I'll stick with it, just couldn't get past that part.

It doesn't really make sense until you find out who sent the guy, which we didn't learn until book 3.

Even then, it's not certain. It's speculation on the part of a couple other characters.

and duck out of this thread, since you haven't watched it yet..in fact spoilers from all four books appear in here. Your questions are better suited for the Weekly TV threads..

Who says it's a cover-up and not a frame-up?

Some slight spoilers about Season 2.

Jaime/Robb will be seen more than in the book.
This interview brings up a good point about the compromises they have to make. I'm going to try to keep my expectations low for the battle of blackwater bay. They'll probably just have a dozen guys fighting in a courtyard and then Tyrion gets knocked out and we learn the rest of what happens after he wakes up and it gets explained to him by a naked girl.

Re: Game of Thrones, Season #1 - SPOILERS thread

I have to say, I'm just remembering all of the plot points in the second book. Good God, that's going to make for a great season of TV. I'm particularly looking forward to:
Spoiler:

The Dragonstone
The introduction of Melisandre and Renly's death
Arya's journey, her little list and the introduction of "A Man" (this will probably be the highpoint of the season)
The introduction of the Greyjoys who are a bunch of tough bastards
Tyrion as Hand and the creation of a crapload of wildfire
Dany, Quarth and the House of Undying (although I really can't wait for the introduction of the Unsullied... yikes)

I don't think they'd have enough time to squeeze that in.

I'm guessing you'd probably see more of him in chains and his escape attempt

I'm looking forward to the non-reader reaction next season when Theon "kills" Bran and Rickon.

Based on the coverage of those characters this season, I suspect the reaction will be "Who? Who did Robb's brother kill?"

I think it's pretty well been established that killing or attempting to kill kids and horses is met with far less outrage than offing dogs and middle-earth vets.

I think the thing that will freak everyone out next year is the Stannis-Renly meeting.

Re: Game of Thrones, Season #1 - SPOILERS thread

Was there any sign of the comet in the sky in the finale? I didn't see it, and thought the omission was a bit odd, seeing as how it plays into alot of scenarios and prophecies in the next book.

Yoren showed Arya three criminals in the back of the wagon before they departed from King's Landing.

One of the three was hooded, so I thought maybe he was supposed to be Jaqen. But Jaqen was probably the character the camera focused on the most.

I took Jaqen to be the hooded character. The other two looked much to ferocious to be Jaqen.

One of them had a big bloody scab over his nose -- I guess that's Rorge.

He looks too savage to be Jaqen, but then again, not quite savage enough to be Rorge, IMO. I pictured Rorge to be more monstrous. He's probably Rorge, though.

I'm pretty sure they've said they haven't cast Jaqen yet so I'd guess that's him under the hood

The real question heading into next season is who is left in King's Landing for Ros to have sex with so she can hear another monologue? I bet the producers are cursing GRRM for making Varys a eunuch.

This never happened, right?
