For those of you who have trained as tailors how usefull have you found it? I was debating on creating a new character with the tailoring profession.

My lvl 41 Warlock (Chesty on Cenarius) is a tailor with skill level of about 200. I've found it mainly useful for making armor that I can wear. I haven't really had much luck selling bags so far, but Mageweave bags might change that. If you're playing a cloth wearer it might be worth your time. If you want to make money, you might be better of choosing a gathering skill.

What do you charge for you bags? I would be interested for two of my characters and looking for more than 6 slot, the higher the better. I wasn't really looking to make money but more out of curiosity.

My mage has the tailoring ability and i've actually found it useful. I end up being able to make better cloth items (items with intellect pluses) than the ones i find. There are weird items that sell, like silk headbands. I can usually sell the bags at auction. its the best to make as many as you can right after you get the pattern so you can up your tailoring and not loose money. Also, with enchanting its good because you can turn found cloth into green items (like a Brown Linen Robe) then disenchant them and use the parts to enchant other items you;ve made and then disenchant them to level up your enchanting.

well, they're a number of things i use on cosmo which are not included in this patch.

1. The icon goes gray if you are out of range of a spell
2. self cast - cast a spell on yourself if no one is selected. useful for healing and buffs.
3. the location indication on the map to help find stuff and mobs posted on hotbot.
they're a number of other things which i'm probably missing.

I'm so dependent on cosmo now that its tough to play without it.

I installed Telos info bar. its pretty neat. its just number on the top of the screen that can tell you the FPS, map coordinates, health/mana regen rate, latency.
Self cast does sound useful. i like the new buff timers and quest minion that blizzard included.

For those of you looking for an alternative UI compilation to Cosmos, check out this one called Insomniax:

Insomniax Recompilation

It inlcudes a lot of really cool and useful mods and the ones you don't use you can always disable.

I miss the timmer, from Comos and Nurfed...Letting you know how much time to next level, and the DPS meter, and /tloc....And if I cast a spell on my wepons it shows up...and the mail fills in stuff for you....Those are the big things I did not see in the upgrade

If you're only using Insomniax then the only folder you should have under "Interface" is "AddOns". The FrameXML folder came from another mod you were using.

That's my fourth epic while soloing (Wall of the Dead [W. Plaguelands], Robe of Insight [Tanaris], and some gloves [Tanaris] were the others). Been in instances where they dropped, too, but I never get those.

It's one of the cool things in this game. Most of my good drops (all the epics, and most of the rares) have just been off some random mob. That last shield came off something I was trying to avoid while questing that chose to attack me.

There were several bug fixes in the last patch that adversely affected Hunters. Things were not working as intended, but the way they were working was beneficial to the class. For instance, when taming a pet it's not supposed to retain its resistances...but it was.

The cummulative effect is that Hunters are, in fact, slightly less powerful...and as such they feel like they were "nerfed." But realistically, they are still the #1 easiest to solo class...and not significantly changed.

Groucho's post left a lot of details out, and I disagree with his assessment, particularly that Hunters weren't significantly changed.

Hunters are upset about quite a lot of things. Let me preface this by saying that, until the past few weeks, no Blizzard CM ("blue") had ever posted in the hunter forums, other than a welcome thread and a few disciplinary threads. That left hunters feeling ignored relative to other classes. Then:

1. Quiver bug 1: Quivers/ammo pouches give you a bonus to attack speed. Previously, however, they were double-stacking, meaning that if you applied a +10% quiver and a +13% ammo pouch, you'd get +23% attack speed. They changed this so you only get the highest attack speed, even if you equip both (meaning that if you equip +10% and +13%, you'd get +13%). Almost no hunters were upset about this, as it was just an exploit to use two quivers.

2. Quiver bug 2: Due to a bug, quivers were giving a higher % of speed boost than they were intended to give. This affected all hunters using a single quiver/ammo pouch. On its own, hunters should have no right to be upset about them changing this, either. However, people who played in Beta brought up that this bug had been around since Beta. During Beta, with this bug in place, the Devs thought Hunter damage was too high (presumably because of this undetected bug), so they made all high end ranged weapons weaker across the board. So originally we had undetected quiver bug + strong weapons, which was too high. Then we had undetected quiver bug + weak weapons, which they felt was balanced from Beta until now. Now they've detected the quiver bug, so we get weak weapons only. This drops our DPS by about 13%, which is a very substantial amount. Combine this with the fact that we can no longer use most attack power buffs (see below), and it's more than a slight decrease in damage.

-Making things look shady, they changed how DPS is shown on the character page. Before, ammo wasn't added into the total. Now, ammo is added into the total. That makes people who don't read the forums think their DPS didn't change, but they really suffered a very substantial drop in DPS.

3. Pet Issue 1: There were some pets that kept their special qualities when tamed: fast run speed, fast attack speed, and resistances. Most people thought this was intentional, as they were typically relatively mediocre pets otherwise. One example was Snarler, a very rare spawn who kept 100 pts of resistance to all magic when tamed (note that 100 pts doesn't equal 100%... it's a relatively minor amount of resistance). There were multi-page threads in the hunter forums about which pets had these special qualities, and people would typically hunt these special pets for hours. Blizzard never put Hunters on notice that the resistances were a bug until the patch notes were posted. This patch removed all pet resistances.

4. Pet Issue 2: On a related note, people began to wonder whether pets were supposed to have those other qualities (fast run/fast attack), or whether those were "bugs" as well. Blizzard's rep refused to answer whether they were intended, but she did say that they wouldn't be changed in this patch. Despite this promise, the patch came, and one of the animal's attack speed WAS changed from 1.0 to 1.5.

5. Pet Issue 3: Blizzard decided that some pets were tameable when they shouldn't be. People had tamed Sandfury Guardians, which were pretty cool looking snakes. They weren't really good pets, in that they didn't have good stats, but they looked neat. Blizzard decided that people shouldn't be able to tame them, so they made them un-tameable. Also, Blizzard's rep promised already-tamed Sandfury Guardians wouldn't be deleted, but they would no longer be feedable. This basically meant you could keep them in the stables indefinitely if you wanted, but you couldn't play with them (because they would eventually lose happiness and turn on you). However, when the patch came, the Sandfury Guardians were just deleted outright. This made fans angry for two reasons: first, it just didn't make much sense to remove the snakes anyway, as they weren't unbalancing. Why remove a feature, even an unintentional feature, your fans like if it isn't harming anything? Second, the players felt lied to, as it was promised the snakes wouldn't be deleted, when in fact they were. A pet is a pretty damn large part of a Hunter's character (much more so than any weapon is), so changes to pets affect hunters greatly.

- Hunters have complained for a long time that most pets are basically the same. At early levels, Turtles (high armor) are substantially different from Bears (high HP), who are different from Cats (high damage). As you get higher, though, the differences begin to merge, to the point where a level 60 bear isn't really any different from a cat, which isn't really different from a boar. Blizzard has acknowledged that pet homogenity is a problem. People thought these unique pets added flavor, but instead most pets with unique features were removed or made normal.

6. Aspect of the Hawk: Previously, there was a bug where Aspect of the Hawk (a power that grants a boost to attack power), when used in conjunction with other player's powers, could end up lowering your attack power. Players complained about this for months, but Blizzard never fixed it. Players finally found a way to exploit it, permanently raising attack power. Within a day, Blizzard issued a hotfix. The problem was that their fix changed how attack power is calculated. Previously, if a power said +attack, it boosted ranged and melee. If it said +ranged, it boosted ranged only. If it said +melee, it boosted melee only. Now, if it says +attack or +melee, it boosts melee only. Only if it says +ranged does it boost ranged. This means that hunters' ranged attacks no longer benefit from the majority of buffs (such as Paladin's blessing of might). Players complained about this change, and Blizzard's reps said this was how attack power was always meant to work. In response, people pointed out examples of how that wasn't true. For example, Blizzard's class webpage for Warriors says Battle Shout (a power which provides +attack) "Increases party's melee and ranged damage." That's how the power always previously worked. After this change, this +attack power only boosts melee attacks, which is pretty worthless for hunters.

- Blizzard's explanation here didn't even make sense. Why have a +attack, +melee, and +ranged, when +attack and +melee are the same thing?

7. Other bugs/problems ignored: Other major bugs that the class has been complaining about forever didn't get fixed at all. Pet run speed is an example. If your pet gets slowed by an enemy, he remains that speed even once that effect has worn off. This is a pain in PvE, and a major pain in PvP. Pet viability in later instances is an issue, as pets die very quickly later on.

Essentially, it felt like this patch weakened us substantially, didn't address any of our problems, and unnecessarily changed a few things that added flavor to the class (like the snake pets).

I know Groucho is a huge Blizzard fan, and I like their game too, but hunters have every right to be upset. I've now played Hunters, Rogues, Priests, Paladins, and Shamans. I wouldn't even go so far as to say that Hunters are the best soloers... I would give that to Rogues. Even if Hunters are better, it's not significantly so... and certainly not enough to warrant being crappy at PvP and of minimal use (if not a liability) in instances.

Hopefully, Hunters will get some love in the next patch.

so does this mean that the +attack power u get from one of the high level talents (aspect of something) will no longer improve you range attack power and only affect your melee?
That would be really stupid.

Meh. I'll admit that my Hunter is only level 18, so I'm hardly an expert. But I don't feel like she was gimped by this (partially because I didn't know about the bugs in question and wasn't exploiting them). What I do know is that she hardly ever dies. Much much less than any other class I've played. And I don't even have feign death yet! Heck, she's very rarely even HIT by a mob. I can't say that for any other class.

I maintain that Hunters are the easiest class to solo.

(As for the new thread, I don't want to start it because I don't want to maintain it...I be LAZY)

From what I understand:

Hunters only have two attack power boosting skills:

Aspect of the Hawk only boosts your own ranged attack power. This is what it has always done.

Trueshot Aura, a talent skill ("Increases the Ranged and Melee Attack Power of party members within 30 yards by 60."), will boost your party's melee and ranged attack power.

So you can boost your own melee and ranged power now, and you can also boost the party's melee and ranged power. I don't know of any powers now, however, that non-hunters can use to boost our ranged attack power anymore.

Compare that to Battle Shout (which is a warrior ability): "The warrior shouts, increasing the party's Attack Power by 35. Lasts 2 min." This used to boost melee and ranged. It now boosts melee only. The same is true for Blessing of Might (a Paladin power)... it boosts melee only now.

Don't forget Hunter's Mark in terms of Hunter's boosting Ranged Attack Power. It ain't just a pretty red arrow.

The only bug that was "exploitable" was the one where you used double quivers.

If you used a single quiver or a single ammo pouch, you were gaining the advantage of the second bug, which is presumably a bug we were balanced around.

I'm in no way saying hunters are ruined now. That would be a little hyperbolic. We just didn't get any love, some negative changes, and a few seemingly unnecessary changes from this patch.

On a good note, they did say that somewhere down the line we'll get to customize powers on our pets. When we'll see this, I don't know.

Ah, you're right. We can effectively be buffed if we team with other hunters and they apply Hunter's Mark (of course, we can do that ourselves too).

I think the main complaint stems from the fact that we already had diminished team value, and now we can't even enjoy the benefits of attack power buffs that our teammates could offer.
