Just hit 40 last night!

Got my mount, went with the Pinto Horse. Also as a Mage we get group portals which come in handy when doing an instance or out in the middle of no where. My only gripe is I wish they were 2-way, not just one.

I created an orc hunter on a PVP server (whisper something?). Got up to level 6. I'll play this character when my wife isnt playing. I'm now thinking i might also start a Tauren warrior on the PVP server to play instead. Seems like hunters dont get much love later on when you need to group up. Seems like there are classes that are always wanted for groups: warriors (tanks), preists, druids, pallys (healers) and mages and rouges for fast damage. My main is a mage so i dont want a spell casting cloth wearer. Tauren should be cool since i'll get the war stomp and can get mining/engineering and use a gun (eventhough its probably useless since i could just get thrown weapons to pull guys and not take up the extra bag slot).

Any suggestions on professions? I just can't decide for my level 13 warrior.

You could take up mining/blacksmithing if you want to make your own gear. Alchemy/herbalism is good as well for making potions for yourself and others. I don't think you'd really want to do leatherworking or tailoring being a warrior. If you decide to go enchanting, be ready to invest a lot of items and cash into it before it starts to pay off way down the road.

On a side note, I finally hit 100 gold today with my 60 NE rogue. I'm now working on getting exalted with the Wintersprings Trainer so I can get the Wintersprings Frostaber epic mount. Though that means doing 3 certain quests about 800+ times to get exalted. Hopefully I won't lose my mind, I'm estimating about a month before I hit exalted. And yes I know, it's borderline stupid but I can't help myself, I must get that sweet mount.

I also made a new character on the new PVP server, Frostmane. I have a lvl 22 Orc Shaman named Ico, so add me to your friends list if you happen to be on Frostmane.

I assume you meant you hit 1000 gold, as 100 gold would put you about 1/10 of the epic mount's base price. That's cool, though, that you're going for the Frostsaber.

No, I am only at 100+ gold at the moment. I've finally got to the point where I am not spending money on stuff on the auction house so I can actually start saving gold. I was just excited that I finally hit triple digits in gold. Repeating this one particular faction quest at the moment has been netting me around 10g a night for the past couple of days, so I figure once I hit exalted with this trainer I should have more than enough money for the mount.

Ah...

Good luck on that... I saw on the forums that some gnome the other day earned exalted with humans and bought a horse. That looked weird.

The nightsabers/frostsabers are easily the coolest mounts... I wish my human Paladin could get one. I may actually try to do a repeatable quest for it, since my regular mount is free.

I saw that same thread with the gnome, that's what finally got me motivated to do this. I could easily farm gold for a couple of weeks and get the level 60 nightsaber/frostsaber mount but the Wintersprings frostsaber is just so damn pretty I can't resist. As a human, you will have to do that evil Morrowgrain quest which is one of the biggest pains in the ass as far as I'm concerned.

where do you buy the winterspring mount?
Is the epic mount from winterspring the same price as the epic mount in the NE city?

um, i think you're nuts if you're going to go for the winterspring mount. the quest is in... Winterspring. go north past starfall village (something like that) and on top of a building, there is a guy who will give you the quest... i know of at least 2 people who have done this after a month of repeat grinding some quest. if you think that you will still do that, let me know and i will get more info b/c i remember something about only one of the quests was worthwhile to get your reputation level higher.

Is this the quest where you get the magic bag and seeds and put crater dirt in and try to grow some specific herb?

The quest giver is Rivern Frostwind, he is located in north Winterspring on the very top of Frostsaber Rock. He gives you one quest to begin with called "Frostsaber Provisions". After you've completed that a number of times you then get "Winterfall Intrustion" and then later "Rampaging Giants". Each quest is repeatable and gives the same amount of faction reputation. Once you become exalted with him, you can then purchase the Wintersprings Frostsaber mount. It is the same price as the epic mounts in Darnassus. Now if you aren't a night elf, you also have to become Exalted with Darnassus in order to train in Tiger Riding so you can ride the NE mounts. Currently the only way to do this is by completing the repeatable Morrowgrain quests.

The crafted items tend to sell for less than the cost of the their constituent parts. The problem is that they're not especially desirable in comparison to dropped/quest reward items (they're not bad, just not great either).

So if you want to earn big bucks, the way to go is with dual gathering professions and then just sell all the raw materials. You'll make more than enough to simply buy comparable equipment to what you could have crafted anyway.

However, some of the production professions can be pretty fun. I have engineering which produces some gadgety trinkets. None of them are super powerful, but they can be helpful.

As a warrior, if you want to pick professions that are complementary to your class, then I'd go with mining/engineering or mining/smithing. Smithing will produce gear that you can use and engineering produces some nice guns, scopes, and explosives that are also very useful (in addition to the gadgets).

I was thinking about going with mining and smithing. I just created a human Rogue on Cenarius named Frazier who I made a skinner/leatherworker. So far I have found it actually usefull since I can't wear mail yet and the only cost for me so far is thread when I make some. I did find the same thing though that thread costs me 10c and selling only nets me 2. I did find light armor kits which I can make free can net a nice amount of money. I think I sold 10 for 1s and some copper.

As a rogue, you won't ever be able to wear mail.

Armor kits are almost always wanted. One thing that blacksmithing can make that always seems to sell at the auction house is daggers.
My level 33 human mage went through Gnomeregan last night with a group of 4 other mid 30s. For the most part it wasnt too bad. If you do end up drawing a bunch of guys or getting stuck in an area that respawning, you're screwed. Thermaplugg was pretty easy.
A question: there are 2 entrances to the instance part of gnomeregan, do they just take you to different areas? can you get from one portal to the other? We went into the portal to the left (the one you dont need the workshop key to access), whats in the other portal? it doesnt seem like there are any quests. I went with a group into about ten levels ago (didnt last long) and it seemed like it had lots more gnomes and fewer troggs.

The portal that requires a key is just lower down in the dungeon. It's basically a shortcut to the end boss.

I wasn't sure about that. But you may have misread my post. My rogue, Frazier, on Cenarius is a skinner/leatherworker already. My warrior who is level 13 still has no profession other than fishing and cooking, and he is who I was thinking of making a mining/blacksmith. I just wasn't sure if it was something I would actually use because skinning was an easy choice like cooking since I just skin my kills and any other abandoned kills. while mining would be like fishing where I would actively have to sit there and mine. I may try it anyway since most of the others seemed like they would be no benefit to me but maybe I am wrong.

My wife's character has mining/blacksmithing. So far theres been only 1 or 2 things that she's made and used. Usually by the time you can make a weapon/armor you already have something better that you found or bought. Once you get around 150 in blacksmithing, the it gets harder to make things for cheap. Seems like everything needs some gem or pearl. Most of the time you're just making the item to up your skill level. My new warrior picked up mining and engineering. probably not a good money maker and most items are only usable by engineers, but the bombs and guns should be fun.

Groucho: thanks for the info, we have to go back to do more key cards and the next one we need (i hope the last) is by the thermaplugg area (which is assume is the end boss area you speak of).

Go to http://www.thottbot.com/?t=Engineering , and scroll your mouse over the pictures of each creation. If it says "requires engineering", then it's usable only by engineers.

Which is a fantastically stupid restriction, IMO.

I thought only the "EZ dynamite" was usable by nonengineers. Can you add a scope to a nonengineer's gun through the trade window; like adding enchantments?

It notes the requirements (profession, class, level, etc.) in the tooltips for each item.

Scopes are one of the few things that engineers can make that they can sell profitably. When I need to, I can make 1 or 2 gold a day just from selling Deadly Scopes. Anyone can buy/get them and attach them to their gun/bow themselves.

Engineers can also make guns, but they tend not to sell profitably since they're not particularly good compared to dropped items. The exception is the Deadly Blunderbuss since it's needed as part of a horde quest in Ashenvale. There's a couple other quest items that are made by engineers and those sell pretty well also. The "Chasing Amy" quest in Un'Goro needs mithril casing and one in Eastern Plaguelands needs hi-explosive bombs and unstable triggers.

I was disappointed at first that engineers couldn't sell their gadgets to everyone, but I actually like it that way now. I have a few trinkets that are pretty handy in PvP like the Cloaking Device (invisiblility for 10 seconds, 1 hr cooldown) which makes for a nice emergency getaway. The net-o-matic gun allows me to snare people which is an ability that my Warlock sorely lacks. The Death Ray hits for 600 to 900 dmg (6 second cast time, 10 min? cooldown) which is nothing to sneeze at and I've seen it crit for well over a 1000. And if I weren't a warlock, I imagine the Deepdive Helmet would be pretty handy too for certain quests.

The fact that not everyone on the server can make use of these gadgets sort of gives me an advantage so I'm more than happy to not have a market (that probably wouldn't be profitable anyway) for these items.

Greetings all,

I play as a female night elf Warrior by the name of Kaena on the Uldum server. If anyone sees me on tonight whisper me and mention you saw my name on DVDTalk. Currently, I'm at lvl 27 midway towards lvl 28. I'm in the Ashenvale region in the town of Astranaar. Oh, and if someone would care to group up that's mighty nice with me.
