I have never pre-ordered a game at Best Buy, but I have seen people picking up pre-orders at the customer service counter, and they do, in fact, have the games pulled off the shelves and placed behind the counter with the on-line purchases. I would ask to make sure, but to be honest, man, there are very rarely game shortages at console launches. In fact, I have bought the PSP, Xbox, PS2, Dreamcast, Gamecube, and GBA on launch and the only game I can think of that was hard to find was Untold Legends for PSP.

To be honest I was so busy trying to go to forums and EA for an answer I failed to even think about going to the XBOX site. Thanks for the reminder.

Don't a few of these games release next week and next prior to launch? I plan on snagging them then instead of waiting for release day. Should help avoid getting screwed on the 22nd. I don't have my pre-order cards in front of me but I thought Kameo was on the 8th, and PDZ on the 11th.

Question for you guys. I see on Amazon that Perfect Dark Zero is set to come out December 15! But on EB Games, it still says November 16. So what that heck is going on! Was this pushed back?

I can tell you that some of the cards have changed. I originally did the pre-order on GR3 (silly me) about a month ago, and they had a release date of 11/15. When I was in the store yesterday, the pre-order cards for GR3 said 11/21. (?)

Both of mine state 11/15. Maybe that was the initial 360 release when these were printed. Who knows. I for one will be there to check out the situation on the 15th.
Also says "Product will be held for two weeks after arrival date."

I went with my wife tonight when she had to make a Wal-Mart run and the damn 360 setup was off. There is a sign saying it will be off until further notice. ![Head Scratch](/images/smilies/hscratch2.gif)

So, what game should I pre-order next? I'm allowed to switch some pre-orders at my GameRush and I'm going to switch two later today.
I currently have:
Quake4
The Outfit
Condmened
Oblivion
Madden 06
Gears of War
Call of Duty2
I'm probably going to switch one to Perfect Dark Zero. What should teh other be? I'm indecisive between NBA 2K6, Tiger Woods 06, Ghost Recon3, Saint's Row or something else (not Kameo or PGR3)...any suggestions?

Xbox 360 prediction: lines, lines, lines
Posted Nov 2, 2005, 11:47 PM ET by Vladimir Cole
It’s not looking pretty for Xbox 360 availability for November 22nd, if various indications are to be believed.
First, we’ve got readers writing to tell us that store managers at Electronics Boutiques are calling them to bump them off of the first allocation of Xbox 360 pre-orders. Writes one reader:
This is something you might want to follow up on, but I just received a phone call from the EBGames store manager (Gainesville, FL) saying that the launch stock they were allocated is a LOT less than what they are now getting. Although I reserved with them over 6 months ago - even before there was an official MSRP - I was told that I didn’t make the list and would be on the second shipment.
Have you pre-ordered an Xbox 360? Call the merchant you pre-ordered from and let us know if you’ll be getting your Xbox 360 on time.
Second, analysts project low availability. Research analyst Mike Wallace predicted that only 1.5 million Xbox 360s will ship this calendar year, with less than a third of those (400,000) available in the United States on launch day, according to 1Up.com.
Third, it’s human nature to desire objects only after they appear to be scarce. Marketing campaigns can certainly stir up demand for a product, and so far it looks like Microsoft’s been doing a great job at that. But nothing makes for a holiday season toy frenzy like simple utterance of the dreaded word “shortage.” We’ve covered this before.
At this point, signs indicate that the Xbox 360 is going to be damned hard to obtain this holiday season. We’d love to be wrong on this, so here’s hoping.

I cannot believe the US would only get 400,000 of the 1.5 million. I thought the Us was the biggest buyer of XBOX. I know Japan is a Sony market. Oh well.....
Still pondering what games to get
Leaning towards Tiger Woods based on the comment above. I haven't played Tiger Woods in YEARS though. Last golf game I played was LINKS (and Hot Shots for PSP)

I don't think stirring up demand is the same thing as manufacturing a shortage. Every marketing department stirs up demand. "We have this new thing... you want this new thing." But Microsoft isn't saying "We have this new thing that you want... BUT YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO FIND ONE!"

When I went to one of my local Wal-Marts to pick up the Star Wars 2-pack, I checked to see if they had a 360 setup. In fact, they did.
Like most reports, it was not set up well. The monitor was mounted about 9 feet in the air, making it painful for someone of average height to look that far up while playing it. Plus, the angle of the monitor of that height did not allow the screen to look its best.
I booted up Kameo first... one of my bundle's included games. Looks good... plays fine... the kind of platforming title that I like to just casually play here and there. However with this being one of the few titles I'm getting at launch, I might play it more than I would otherwise.
I didn't spend much time with it since I'm already getting it. So I switched over to King Kong... a title I hadn't even considered renting. Until now. In fact, I might buy this one based solely on the few minutes I spent with it. Having Jack Black yelling at me to distract a T-Rex so they can open some gate seems like fun to me. Looks great too... and this was all without even a glimpse of the titular ape.
My only real complaint about the unit itself was that accessing the menus didn't seem as smooth as you'd think it should be. I know this is real nitpicky, but changing the blades seemed jerky at times, like you were trying to run a memory hungry program on a PC that didn't have enough RAM. Maybe this was just because of the demo unit or the demo disc. But I did notice it.
That's certainly not a big enough gripe to make me cancel my pre-order though. Tick tock, tick tock...

Yeah, I thought King Kong was decent too (lots of people seem to dislike the demo). Oh yeah...and being ate by the T-Rex is NOT, I repeat, NOT a good way to distract it ![Wink](/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I was thinking about switching my XBOX pre-order to this, but there are a few other games I would rather have. Maybe I'll put it on an X-Mas List or something.
