Just a heads up when you unlock bonus content if you are super religious about spoilers don't watch the bonus videos as you unlock them. Nothing that I would consider spoilers in them, but there is some dialogue in them from stuff you haven't seen yet (if you are watching these as you unlock them). Just a heads up.
Also why did they hire foreign actors to voice the characters? I don't know what country the production took place but it's just a real wonder why they went this way. You can obviously hear the accents come out during most of the speech. There's no way they couldn't find English "actors" who would work in the game.

When the accents are so jarring that it takes you completely out of the story you either look to hire English actors or get people who can do the accent better. They obviously did this for Shelby. And like I said I wasn't sure where this game was made.
But come on the hiring of 3 actors that aren't local is not going to break their economy, I think we're being a tad bit over the top. I'm sure the hundreds of other people working on the game can MORE than make up for a few actors.

Perhaps the game takes place in a city where people don't have one specific accent? Why does it have to be English or American accents? It's an international game made for an international market.

I'm not even alone in this thought, one of the few complaints this game gets in most reviews is the voice acting.
From Metacritic:
Sound and voice acting
Many publications were distracted by the use of non-American voice actors, who were able to mimic their characters’ American accents to varying degrees of success.
One standout flaw is that while most characters are supposed to be American, some of the actors clearly aren’t and their accents tend to slip through, making their line deliveries sound weird at times. –IGN
However, that publication added:
Really, when compared to most games, Heavy Rain has what would be considered very good voice acting. It’s just that when so much of the experience is focused on it, you tend to notice the flaws a good deal more.
The voice acting … is atrocious for the most part, but the music, at least, goes some way toward making up for that. –Destructoid

Not painting you with that - sorry you thought as much. But you even said that it takes you out of the game in an earlier post...or am I misreading that?
The explanation you had in this post is much clearer in what you're saying - the slipping in and out of accents is what's grating to you...not the accent itself. I couldn't determine that from earlier posts.

I really hated this game. I guess I'm in the minority with that opinion, but I did not feel at all in control of the characters or the story. In fact, it just felt like a modern Dragon's Lair to me. Not to mention the horrible writing on the whole. Not sure what I was expecting (and I was excited for it and followed its development closely), but I guess I thought I'd have more freedom.

Just finished the game since I had off today. Enjoyed it. This was the ending I got:

Re: Heavy Rain -The Official Thread (Launches 2/23/10)
I'm have trouble consistently shaking my controller up and down to satisfy the game. I can't figure out how to do it correctly, so I'm never able to accurately complete that action. Any tips?
Shaking left to right is fine, but up and down seems completely hit or miss.
I know it's not my controller because I have two PS3 controllers and tried them both.
Any help?

So far this game is more annoying than enjoyable for me.
I just got done
I don't know how far in I am but if this is already into the "good" part, I'm not sure I'll finish it.
