I recommend this one so often that Nintendo should be paying me for advertising it:

How does it compare to the other open world Lego games? I know I'm getting marvel for ps4 from the wife for Xmas, so not sure if I'd need another one right now, but will add it to my list of things to watch for a sale on.

I haven't played the others that I think are considered open-world, like Batman 2, The Hobbit, and Marvel Super Heroes. My experience with the Lego games pre-Undercover was mostly Star Wars and Batman. But I like Undercover a lot better than those, and most of the reviews I've read of Undercover said it was the best of the Lego games up to that point. If you've played Grand Theft Auto III or IV, just imagine a Lego version of that. The developers didn't even hide the fact that they were making basically a parody of the GTA series, and Undercover has a comparable style, size, and level of gameplay variety.

Jory, did you play the 3DS game? Is that one any good?

The 3DS version of Lego City Undercover? No, I haven't played it. Here's IGN's review of it on YouTube if you're interested. They weren't too kind to it. Here's their review of the Wii U version, which is much more positive.

AKA the battery we should have shipped this with to begin with. It's Wii Motion + all over again.

I'd consider getting that "high capacity" battery if they can guarantee that it won't lose it's charge while off like the current battery does.

If they shipped it for free I'd consider it. I'm not paying almost $40 for it though.

It eventually hit Amazon UK so I imagine it'll hit our Amazon site pretty soon now, for less, and shipped free. I'll get it then.

Nintendo's getting it! Not crazy about the length and voiceover, but it's a huge step in the right direction.

Boy, I'd love to find any rechargeable battery that doesn't lose its charge when off. I'd buy 1,000 of them and put them in every device I own.

Good they actually showed the Wii U system front and center instead of in the background. Only thing missing is the mention that it'll play all your Wii games.

This is literally the first advertisement I've ever seen for the system in the year it's been out.

So who's that ad for? It's 2 minutes long and it sounds like an infomercial, so obviously it's not airing on network TV. Are they just hoping it spreads online? Or maybe an in store ad playing at a demo station or something? The number of views for Nintendo's YouTube videos aren't particularly high either.

No wonder the system isn't selling. People, for whatever reason, aren't even willing to look at it.

Nintendo: "Super Mario 3D World! Lego City Undercover! The Wonderful 101! Pikmin 3! ZombiU! New Super Mario Bros. U! Sonic Lost World! Game & Wario!"

Gamers: "I'm sorry, did you say something?"

I'm starting to wonder if Super Smash Bros., Bayonetta 2, Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8 are even going to matter in an environment like this.

I just bought LEGO City Undercover used for $24 from Hastings online using the 50% off code!

Re: The Wii U: From "cool" Sony to evil Nintendo

My daughter is home from college, and when she had some friends over, I literally forced them to play Super Mario 3D World. It was fun to overhear some of their conversations, like "Ground pound still works!" and various taunts when one found a hidden star or stamp before the others. They played for a couple hours or so.

Just did the same. Snagged Nintendoland for $13 also. Not a bad deal at all.

I guess that's the trick, then: we have to force people to try the Wii U.

You send out the flyers promising free cake. I'll get the cattle prods.
