This couldnt be more true. I think TDK being nominated would be a huge step for comic book films, and would probably inspire future adaptations to be done the proper way.

Joker sticking his head out of the window of the cop car was an image I will never forget. Simply awesome.

This wasn't the best movie ever (people here are busting their fanboy loads) but it still was great. Ledger absolutely stole the movie, and had me on edge the whole time.

Okay, my final verdict after 2 viewings...

This movie reminds me a LOT of the first Die Hard movie.

I'm pretty sure if you liked that, then you will love this.

The exception being that it's more about the whole plot/movie rather than the performances of the individual actors.

Um, were you paying any attention to the development of this film prior to Ledger's death?

Does anyone have the text of what was being said in the end by Alfred? I was in a state of WOW and didn't get everything he was saying.

By "Alfred" do you actually mean "Gordon"? Because Alfred isn't seen or heard at all during the last 20 minutes or so. The ending dialogue is all Gordon.

Who was driving that cop car? Joker was sticking out of the backseat window, so I guess he had a crony doing the driving?

This isn't verbatim but it's close:

Spoiler:
Batman tells Gordon that Gordon will have to hunt him, to keep Harvey Dent's reputation intact. We see a shot of Gordon at Dent's funeral, saying, "Harvey Dent was not the hero Gotham deserved, but the hero it needed." Cut back to Gordon and Batman, and Gordon says, "They'll hunt you." And Batman corrects him by saying "You will hunt me. Because Batman can take it. Because I'm not a hero. Call it in." Then Batman takes off running and Gordon's son says, "Why's Batman running?" And Gordon says, "Because we have to chase him." And the son says, "But he didn't do anything wrong." Gordon replies, "Because he can take it. Because he's the hero Gotham deserves, but not the hero it needs right now. He's our watchful sentinel, our silent protector. A Dark Knight." Cut to credits.

As I said, not word for word, but close.

Even more realistic than TLJ's Two-Face being burnt by coffee.

Oh, right. I forgot. But in all fairness, that was CGI.

I made the entire board go into a giant hissy-fit when I actually voiced my problems with the Iron Man movie, despite actually liking it, & I think I did the same when I was one of the few people who actually didn't like Batman Begins that much.

After seeing this last night, I have to say this is absolutely the single best comic book movie ever made.

A near masterpiece of story-telling, maybe more for being a fairly pure crime-drama than anything else. I did have some problems with it though, several of which carried over from the last movie. The biggest of which were still Morgan Freeman, b/c I can't stand Morgan Freeman, who plays. . . well. . . Morgan Freeman in every movie he is in. He just takes me out of the world the movie creates as soon as I see him. Also , Gotham just doesn't look like Gotham, it looks like Chicago. But they are minor nitpicks.

I was really sick of all the Heath-hype going into the film but damn, he really really deserves all the hype. Not just his performance but the script as well by FAR more than any superhero movie the way in which it portrays sheer, uncompromising evil, & how a superhero has to stand up against it, is miles ahead of any movie of it's kind.

And what a phenomenal score.

Favorite moment of the movie for me was

Spoiler:
The Joker walking out of the hospital as he was about to blow it up. The entire scene was great, but just the way in which the Joker is actually walking, just completely fantastic. Made even better, b/c I think it was in Entertainment Weekly where I read, as he was blowing it up, and all the LITTLE explosions stopped, all of that was completely ad-libbed by Heath. The BIG explosion didn't go off at the right time, and, knowing this, he decided to work with it. There was only one chance for that take, and he did it brilliantely

I may be overlly geeking out but did anyone else read into when Lucious Fox
mentions
Spoiler:
the durability of the new uniform could endure an attack from any dog or CAT?

***SPOILER***

I would have liked to have seen a shot of The Joker at the end of the movie where he is in Arkham Asylum. That way, we know what's happened to him and that he is still alive but we will never see him again in any of the others movies. Him dangling leaves it open for too much interpretation since Ledger is dead, we know we will never see the Joker again.

In fairness, though, you've got to figure the intention was to bring him back in III, and therefore no reason to shoot a scene like that.
