Joker sticking his head out of the window of the cop car was an image I will never forget. Simply awesome.
This wasn't the best movie ever (people here are busting their fanboy loads) but it still was great. Ledger absolutely stole the movie, and had me on edge the whole time.

Okay, my final verdict after 2 viewings...
This movie reminds me a LOT of the first Die Hard movie.
I'm pretty sure if you liked that, then you will love this.
The exception being that it's more about the whole plot/movie rather than the performances of the individual actors.

The problem is, people expect Nolan's Batman films to be so realistic that they will criticize ANYTHING that seems the slightest bit far-fetched. I thought that Eckhart's Two-Face was fantastic, and stunning. Far and away more realistic than Tommy Lee Jones' character in Schumachers world.

I made the entire board go into a giant hissy-fit when I actually voiced my problems with the Iron Man movie, despite actually liking it, & I think I did the same when I was one of the few people who actually didn't like Batman Begins that much.
After seeing this last night, I have to say this is absolutely the single best comic book movie ever made.
A near masterpiece of story-telling, maybe more for being a fairly pure crime-drama than anything else. I did have some problems with it though, several of which carried over from the last movie. The biggest of which were still Morgan Freeman, b/c I can't stand Morgan Freeman, who plays. . . well. . . Morgan Freeman in every movie he is in. He just takes me out of the world the movie creates as soon as I see him. Also , Gotham just doesn't look like Gotham, it looks like Chicago. But they are minor nitpicks.
I was really sick of all the Heath-hype going into the film but damn, he really really deserves all the hype. Not just his performance but the script as well by FAR more than any superhero movie the way in which it portrays sheer, uncompromising evil, & how a superhero has to stand up against it, is miles ahead of any movie of it's kind.
And what a phenomenal score.
Favorite moment of the movie for me was
I may be overlly geeking out but did anyone else read into when Lucious Fox
mentions

***SPOILER***
I would have liked to have seen a shot of The Joker at the end of the movie where he is in Arkham Asylum. That way, we know what's happened to him and that he is still alive but we will never see him again in any of the others movies. Him dangling leaves it open for too much interpretation since Ledger is dead, we know we will never see the Joker again.

In fairness, though, you've got to figure the intention was to bring him back in III, and therefore no reason to shoot a scene like that.
