Like everything about that pic except the short ears.

re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

what purpose do long ears serve?
I always expected Nolan to try to justify them by having exposition claim they were some kind of antenna apparatus, but to the best of my knowledge that never happened.
They aren't more aerodynamic. If anything , like the cape, would provide something that could infringe on his ability to move in certain situations or give his opponents a target to exploit.

unless people still think he wears his costume to 'scare' bad guys with.

I thought that happened, but then when he is on the fire escape with the boy, isn't he using an external antenna/receiver system? I thought that was what he ended up giving the boy (which i always thought seemed incredibly dumb).

They looked insanely cool when Burton broke them out for the first Batman.
But part of that was the novelty of finally seeing the long ones on screen.

From what little can be seen of Afflecks suit, I'm willing to bet this is going to be the popular favorite incarnation for the majority of fans for a loooong time.

I don't remember what it was at the moment. For some reason all I can think of is Tony Stark giving that kid a missile or whatever in Iron Man 3.

I thought he gave him a grapple gun? I could very well be wrong though, because I remember thinking, "isn't that a little dangerous to give to a kid?"

Didn't he give him the binoculars he was using?

He gave the kid a periscope. And, yes, the bat ears had antenna in them.

re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

I was just reading an article at the escapist, and it pretty much summed up my thought exactly, so I'll just quote it here:

Featuring what is widely assumed to be Affleck suited up as the Caped Crusader, the photo confirms that previous hints that the film will take its cues, somewhat, from Frank Miller's 1980s take on Batman are true. While it's still very much the thick suit of armor we've come to expect in cinematic versions of Batman, it is also designed to resemble the aesthetic Miller favored.

The Batmobile itself just looks like the version seen in Tim Burton's Batfilms. But the suit is another story. Clearly, Affleck will be bulking up for the role - the picture definitely conjures up images of the middled-aged Batman seen in Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. What's interesting, however, is that the suit itself is highly evocative of the uniform seen on the pages of Batman: Year One, with a rounder, old fashioned-looking cowl, and smaller ears that make Batman appear less a demonic personification of justice and more like an actual cartoon bat. It even appears to be black and gray.

Honestly, I love the silhouette the suit makes. I've always preferred the simple gray and black suit seen in Year One and The New Batman Adventures over the ponderous quasi-exo skeletons of the two film series. (That is not to say I prefer Frank Miller's Batman itself. But that's a conversation for another time.) Naturally, the textures obscured by black and white in this photo may turn out to look as silly as Superman's mesh uniform in Man of Steel, and those abs are almost comical. But for now at least, this seems at least partly on the right track. I'm still skeptical about Man of Steel 2: Batman Goes West. Obviously, aesthetic choices do not equal quality. But for the first time I'm also mildly looking forward to this movie.

That looks like the back wheel or the outer part over the back wheel.

Yeah, the first time I noticed that I did a double take because it kind of looks like Joker's face. Looking at it closer though, I am pretty sure it is just part of the Batmobile obscured by smoke.

BTW, only recently realized that kid is the actor who played King Joffrey on Game of Thrones.

A splash of yellow on the emblem would have been a nice touch. I guess the yellow emblem is gone for good.

I actually don't mind the yellow oval on the emblem either but overall I do think that the plain Bat logo is better. I still really dislike how large the logo is though. That's probably what bothers me about the suit the most along with the shorter ears.

My guess is that there was some mandate to keep Batman's chest emblem fairly big in keeping with Superman's emblem from Man of Steel.

Really? I think of it as nothing more then the obvious comic book inspiration and nothing more.

I agree. That suit is just about a copy of the one in The Dark Knight Returns...

This is how I feel too. I wish the logo was different and the ears were just a touch longer (not TOO long). Other than that, the suit is pretty cool since I realize they wanted to get away from the Nolan look.
