I didn't intend my comment to come off that way at all. I could care less whether people liked the film or not. I more or less just meant it as a comment that fans of the character or a previous incarnation of the character didn't like Man of Steel because it didn't live up to what they wanted or expected it to be. ![Shrug](/images/smilies/shrug.gif)

Saw a (hopefully bullshit) rumor about Orlando Bloom being the "odds on" to land the role.
I don't have anything against Bloom, but c'mon WB, he's no Batman.....

I wouldn't have a problem with him if not were being under the direction of Snyder. I guess he has the looks for Bruce Wayne but as Batman? No way (and I'm not buying this rumor right now).

I'm sure it is bullshit anyway. It was just the first thing that shows up when you google Scott Adkins right now.

Why the fuck does it matter if he's American? Batman has to be a white guy (which is pretty fucking broad of a generalization), fit, and good looking. The actor could be an Aussie for all I care but as long as he can get an American accent down and be the character. I'm game.

Here's a couple clips from No One Lives (a movie that could've been a lot worse and should've been a lot better) that were the highlights and why I could see Evans in the role:
(Both are NSFW, but esp. this one)

Christian Bale Not Offered $50M
Probably one of the rumors that has received the most attention over the past week's time is one that reports Christian Bale was offered $50M to reprise his role as Batman, sourced from a book Beyond Batman: The Unauthorized True Story of Christian Bale and His Dark Knight Dilemma. It's also a rumor that is being wildly misreported.
The author of Beyond Batman, Vince Russell, shares on a page of the book that during this past year's New Year's Eve party he was talking with a friend about Bale being crazy to walk away from the role to which his friend responds "He could probably make $50 million for being in the movie 20 minutes..."
It was just a conversation between friends, which was highly speculative. I've even had these conversations with friends. But Mr. Bale was not offered $50M to play the role, in this account by the author.
Also, a Justice League movie was not announced as the cinematic next adventure (although I wouldn't be surprised if it's somehow "in the works" as a potential plan from the studio.) But to cast a "new Batman" in the Man of Steel sequel, only to replace that actor with Christian Bale in a Justice League movie, when Chris Nolan has made it very clear his Batman is not in a shared universe, makes no sense.
We also cannot say if Mr. Bale was never offered at any other time a sum of money or what any talks between the actor and studio/ filmmakers may have ever involved. In this particular account, which is being cited across the interwebs, it did not occur.
In a conversation between two friends who were speculating their thoughts out loud, a rumor has been born from misreported information. Fans have their favorite actors and fun ideas as to who should be Batman in the Man of Steel sequel, and there is nothing wrong with that. But for all those in favor of Mr. Bale or maybe pinning expectations on him returning based on what was originally reported, may feel disappointed in the near future.
Beyond the rumors, whoever is cast as the new Batman in the Man of Steel sequel will certainly have to deliver a great performance in teaming up with Henry Cavill's Superman; A team up I am looking forward to see unfold on screen.
The yet-to-be-officially-titled Man of Steel sequel begins producing in 2014 with a Summer, 2015 release date. Returning to their roles are Henry Cavill (Superman,) Amy Adams (Lois Lane,) Diane Lane (Martha Kent,) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White.)

re: Untitled Superman & Batman Film (2015) (D: Snyder; S: Cavill, Affleck)
It seems with a different actor playing Batman they kind of lost a little faith in the project.
As Legendary Pictures ends its financing and co-production pact with Warner Bros. Pictures, it has decided to change the nature of one of its lingering obligations.
Legendary has worked out a deal with Warner Bros. Pictures to invest in a significant piece of Christopher Nolan's "Interstellar" opening late next year.
To do that though, it has agreed to give up its stake in the Batman-meets-Superman sequel to "Man of Steel" due in 2015.
In July, Legendary entered into a five-year film partnership with Universal Pictures that will begin in 2014.

Either that or the relationship between the two was so poisonous that they figured this was the quickest way out. Also, better to get it done in 2014 (when Interstellar will be released) than wait for BvS in 2015 (and that's a maybe).

TheMovieman is right. Legendary didn't make as much as they had planned with Pacific Rim, so it makes sense for them to move their stake to a sooner-released film.

So he was hands-on more than he needed to be? Over excedding the 50/50 of such a production or what?

Even if WB hadn't had licensing deals in play before the movie opened, Man of Steel grossed $650+ million off a $225 million budget. Even with marketing costs added in, it's still a big hit.
Are people really claiming the film "bombed"? Other than the mouth-breathers at IMDB?

I think what he means is that the term "bombed" is most often related to BO take, not film quality.
