Green Lantern and Flash? I really don't understand why they won't capitalize on Arrow and Flash.

Nowhere does it say that Sandman is part of the DCCU. It more than likely will be standalone, like the Constantine TV series, or maybe it will be part of the rumored Justice League Dark movie that del Toro is supposedly working on.


It does make sense considering Hal and Barry are buddy-buddy in the comics. I don't think the TV series are going to be part of the DCCU. Flash will probably be different in the movies kind of like Quicksilver in the MCU and DOFP.

Perhaps the Sandman in that movie list is Wesley Dodds. Some might remember his brief appearance in Kingdom Come.

No, it's most definitely Neil Gaiman's Sandman. It's been stuck in development hell for many years. I think the most recent rumors from late last year had Joseph Gordon-Levitt attached to the movie either in a starring role or as director.

Yeah, I recall that. We even had a thread about it. But I wouldn't put it passed WB to just randomly switch their plans. Especially if they want a DCMU to rival the MCU.

They're not going to do two movies with two very different versions of Sandman. That would be way too confusing for the general audience.

They're also not going to use a super-obscure character like Wesley Dodds. They have their hands full introducing all the main A-list characters already.

Just because Sandman shows up on that list doesn't mean it's connected to the DCCU. It can be standalone.

I agree. Arrow is just a bit too grounded though. It's the same thing that plagued Nolan's Batman, and why they are using a completely different version of Batman for these Justice League movies.

Sure, Arrow has some fantasy elements like Flash and the Mirakuru super-soldier stuff, but that pales in comparison to aliens and Amazonian gods that will be introduced with the Justice League.


If a C-list character like Ant-Man is a hard sell to the general audience, then an even more obscure Z-list character like Dodds would be a thousand times more so.

There's very little chance that this isn't Gaiman's Sandman.

It will definitely be Gaiman's Sandman. WB wants to heavily tap that goth teen market. They want Sandman to be the Harry Potter franchise for emo kids everywhere with spin-offs planned for Death.
