I still can't get past the fact that they made Diane Lane so damn ugly! GILF opportunity thwarted.

Another winning idea from DC/Warner.

You know you'll be there buying a ticket faster than you can say "god damn you Marc Webb!"

Honestly as time goes on and the more news/rumors I hear the less interested I'm becoming. This is coming from a huge Batman fan and someone who generally favors DC over Marvel. I'm just not excited for this film at all. I'll most likely see it yes, but I have next to zero faith that any of these films are going to be good.

Well that's exactly how you ended up liking TASM2, so what's the problem?

Spoiler:
This would certainly not be the first time DC has killed James Gordon. It could lead to Barbara becoming the new Commissioner. That has been done in both the comics and BTAS.

Admittedly that is true, but in that case I had little expecations to begin with since I didn't really like the first film very much. In this case I liked Man of Steel to an extent despite not thinking it was perfect and I just feel like everything Warner and DC has announced regarding this film and all the other films they have planned is just going to wind up being a gigantic clusterfuck.

I'm just not a fan of killing off one of the biggest Batman characters before he even gets to be seen in the new film universe.

Spoiler:
Perhaps the solo Batman movie will be set earlier in the timeline, kinda somewhat like the first Captain America movie being set mostly in WWII except for the bookend chapters.

If the DCCU Batman is being set late in the character's timeline, one of the Batman solo films should adapt Grant Morrison's Arkham Asylum story.

Spoiler:
The thing is though it made sense for Captain America: The First Avenger to be a prequel story that was bookended in modern times. If they're doing that with Batman it would just seem like they're just complicating the story with no real logical reason for doing so.

Re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

Yeah, I don't think its anywhere close to that situation at all.

Spoiler:
Maybe if Cap first showed up in Avengers, and then they went back and did the origin movie. And even then, Cap is a special case since we knew his origin had to involve the past. But yeah, I'd be surprised if they tried something like that. Maybe they could do a few flashbacks, but I would assume they continue the continuity established in this movie, not go backwards.

Spoiler:
Yet, Batman is already in the superhero business and should be more than aware that causalities happen when saving the planet from an alien attack. It ain't like Batman did s**t to save the day.

Just saying.

true but just saying that this would be a good way of providing a certain mentality of Batman with Superman

If the rumor is indeed true,
Spoiler:
we don't know if Gordon actually died in the Zod attack or not. That was just someone else's speculation. The rumor just says Gordon is dead prior to BvS. If Batman has been active for 17 years (according to the same rumor) Gordon could have died anytime during those 17 years.

Also, regarding Batman not doing shit to save the day during the Zod attack, how long exactly was the Zod attack? I don't think the movie says exactly, but I figure it probably wasn't more than a few hours. Batman may not have heard about it in time. Or he may not have been able to get from Gotham to Metropolis in time. Or he may have been busy chasing down criminals in Gotham. Or any number of reasons why he couldn't get to Metropolis.

Re: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) (D: Snyder; S: Gadot)

Why did they simply decide not to include Gordon in BvS? The movie already has too many characters being pushed into it, holding back on some is a good movie. In this movie he would have been a completely unnecessary character anyway. I am sure they are trying to shoe horn a reason for Batman to get pissed off, and if they are using his death as an excuse that would be pitiful.

Just save the character for the solo Batman movie and maybe small cameo in the Justice League film.

The spoiler makes sense in that this is supposed to be a much "older" Batman - despite the fact that Affleck still looks like he's in his 30s (and with Cavill's receding hairline, the two aren't going to look as far apart in age as everyone hoped).

Spoiler:
They should just make Gordon older and not active with the GCPD if anything. I just really dislike the idea of him being killed off offscreen.

But he's Batman.
Spoiler:
He can get his butt to wherever he needs to be.
My point is
Spoiler:
he shouldn't be pointing fingers at the guy that did the job and saved earth from an alien invasion. Obviously it was messy, but it's not like Zod was cooperating.
