Marvel has already staked out that date as the release date for an unannounced Phase 3 film though. I think all he's saying is that traditionally we get a Marvel film the first weekend in May, it's kinda been their prime spot.

Not that I think they had a chance but this pretty much stamps them losing the comic book movie war. Not that there really was one but I'm sure they wanted to face Marvel in some form.

2016 is Phase 3. So far all we know is Dr. Strange is a Phase 3 film. So depending on what is released marvel, we're blank. So it's an unknown timeframe for us in knowing what Marvel will exactly throw at WB's schedule.

They had to start production by a certain date due to some contract with Siegel or Shuster's heirs.

We don't know the reason for the delay. We don't know that they are making changes to the script at all.

A movie delayed is a movie delayed. It doesn't mean anything right now. They haven't filmed anything. If the movie was delayed to a new release date after being screened or filmed then that is a problem most of the time. Being delayed now means nothing. If it ends up being scrapped altogether everyone who hated this project will be happy.

Yes, when Warners says they wanted to "give time for the filmmakers to realize their vision" that almost certainly means re-writes are in progress. Better now than six months before release.

Maybe they pushed it back so it will be released along side Marvel's Phase 3, which is Ant Man & Dr Strange. Nobody can argue these are Marvel's heavy hitters. So DC wants to put out their 'a game' next to D listers to make their movie look that much better. Would be funny if these D list character movies were more popular then DC's A team.

Also, I'm far more looking forward to Ant-Man than any other superhero movie because of Edgar Wright. I'm pretty confident in thinking I'll like his movie way more than the other ones, including Superman/Batman.

Maybe they just want to avoid 2015 because as it stands, it is already completely over-saturated with tentpole releases? It's going to be a bloodbath that year in terms of box office.

Man of Steel was delayed. It was supposed to come out Christmas 2012, but got pushed to this past summer.

Fuck all the other films. Avengers 2 is coming out. That's a major threat for WB.

Ant-Man for sure is my most anticipated Marvel film cuz of Wright. Pretty much since that was announced a long while back. I'm game for Age of Ultron but fuck Whedon. Wright is a much more awesome director.
Doc Strange is still without a timeframe.

It would be interesting if the 2016 Marvel flicks turned out to be better than this film.
