I wonder if it was intentional. The trailer was just to get something out but the tv spots are the slow burn to build momentum.

The only thing I can think of is the October Trailer is for the diehards so they want to hold back cause those fans booked their tickets already. The casual fan sees the TV spot and something cool that wasn’t in the trailer and that may entice them to see it.

Or they literally didn't have the effects for the other shots done yet.

I like the humor in the Disney trilogy. Very much in the OT tradition. "Did she do that to us?"
I don't think there were any successful, intentionally funny scenes in the PT.

GOD, I have a feeling that the Stormtrooper that says "It's OK that you're here" is Ed Sheeran.

Am I forgetting something, when did Rey get like any Jedi training?

She had a bit in TLJ and I'm guessing that there's going to have been some training in between that one and the beginning of TROS.
Plus, it's been implied that she's unusually strong with the Force, which is why Kylo wants her and Luke feared her.

Saw this in my Twitter feed. I guess he wasn't warned about embargos? Talk about over selling. ![LOL](/images/smilies/lol.gif)

Exclusive: Rey's Backstory from Collin Trevorrow's Star Wars Episode IX script.
Sounds pretty underwhelming, actually. (Though it fits in well with the underwhelming sequel trilogy.)
Wouldn't surprise me at all if Abrams' final film resembles this to some degree.

He didn’t have to make the video. He could have just not done anything. The fact that he wanted to do something is telling.
Also the fact that my source reposted it on Facebook and basically confirmed also tells me it’s looking good. They could just stay quiet and let the ads do the talking but they’re posting these things to share their excitement.
Kinda like the training Luke got in between TESB and ROTJ.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (12/20/19, W/D: J.J. Abrams)
Yesterday i read a breakdown of each act of the movie and pretty sure its legit. Star Wars has gotten so low in this new trilogy that whereas once before i would actively avoid spoiler, now i have no problem reading a full breakdown to see if there is any justification in not having my time wasted.
It does read like there is Rey training at the beginning of the movie and a whole lot of retconning going on for the mistakes the last movie, and to some extents first movie made in this series. Also some call backs to OTT characters and events and even one big call back to a scene from Empire that made me think it will fall flat for me.
There is only a single reason that i may see this in cinemas and thats the simple fact that i have seen all the other 8 main series movies on the big screen. But thats literally it. This new trilogy has done a disservice to the original and its characters whilst trying to shoe horn characters who are empty voids and a story that has zero cohesiveness from start to end. This series should be given as a case example of producing a trilogy with no concept or idea of the story beginning middle or end and not planning anything out.
