Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

Heroes - My boss tried to catch me up on it (I stopped watching when they introduced the guy who can breathe underwater), and it just sounds like they have no idea where to go. Oh,
Spoiler:
Nathan is dead again? Yeah, just like the last three seasons. Sylar is Nathan? Hiro can't time travel anymore?

Ehh, doesn't sound like I'm missing much.

Hell's Kitchen, I still like, just didn't get a chance to watch, and don't feel like going through 8 or 9 DVRed episodes, so I just deleted them.

I gave up on House at the beginning of this season, just too much of the same every week.

I'm (trying) to make it through the end of the seasons of CSI and My Name is Earl, and then I'm out on both. Never watched Heroes and I'm surprised at the number of people dropping Fringe.

Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

From previous seasons:
24
Chuck
CSI: Miami

New this year:
Unusuals
Southland
Harper's Island

Heroes gets exactly two episodes next season, and if they are no better than what we've been experiencing, it's gone.

It's sad they took such a great idea like Heroes and completely butchered it.

I tuned out part way through season 1.

Yes, Season one is awesome with several WTF moments. No need to go on. It never goes anywhere after that.

Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

Amazing Race - I just got tired of watching bickering couples buy airline tickets. I watched the premier episode and the 2 episodes in Bangkok. That was enough for me.

Heroes - Although I told myself the same thing last year. It's like heroin, you know it's bad for you, but you just can't kick it. It's hit rock bottom so it should be easier this time around. Wish me luck on my sobriety.

Every thread like this Smallville comes up and like you I watch and have no idea why I'm still watching it.

I think Heroes has now replaced that as the most disliked watched show out there. I personally don't feel as bad after watching that as Smallville but it's getting close.

My Name Is Earl is one that I haven't enjoyed since about the end of Season 2 and honestly haven't watched in months. I watched Parks and Recreation's premier, but two episodes in I'm done too.

Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

This year I gave up on Fringe and Dollhouse. I'm way behind on CSI, Grey's Anatomy, and House.

I stuck with Heroes until this point, I'll give it a chance next season but will jump ship quickly if is still as awful as this season was.

Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

Just to echo everyone else's complaints, I'm officially done with Heroes. I managed to make it to the end of this season, but I will not be watching next season. I'm planning on selling my S1 DVDs so that I can forget I ever watched this show. I actually watched S1 again recently and even that first season, which many people seem to hold in high regard, had a lot of the same problems that S2 and S3 have had.

I also recently started watching the first season of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and gave up on it about 5 episodes in. A few people had recommended it on the basis of "if you like Arrested Development, you'll like this." I saw no similarities between the two except that they were both single-camera sitcoms without laugh tracks. I found the show to be totally mediocre and not funny...basically the exact opposite of Arrested Development.

Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

Ugly Betty----Only watched the 1st 3 episodes of season 3, but wasn't really motivated to watch and it started building up and I had to sacrifice it for stuff I love more. I may rent the DVD this summer to catch up for season 4 as I still like the show and I'm a huge Vanessa Williams fan.

Raising the Bar----I like TNT's original programming, but just couldn't see myself watching another legal show. Mark-Paul Goselaar's hair in the show bugs also. I watched 1 and 1/2 episodes and that was enough.

The other 30+ shows I try to watch, I will stick with even though some I am weeks behind. It's simply way to hard hard to give any of them up.

You could have watched them the next day on CBS.com unless you have something against watching streaming internet video.

Are you at least going to finish it when the DVD comes out because it's looking unlikely that we will get another season.

Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

Heroes.

Once I start watching serial dramas and decide to stick with it, I really try my hardest not to quit. I was close to dropping The OC during season three, but season four was great. Close, but didn't quit.

ahhh, Heroes. I quit. Haven't watched since....well, I don't even remember the last episode I watched. Sometime after Fugitives. Glad I don't have to hear Claire whine about her father anymore, as well as hear her father say he's doing things to protect her. That plotline has been dragging since season one. Damn it, I GET IT!

Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

Heroes - Gave up on it early this past season. Was the introduction of the speedy chick this season or last season? I gave up on it then. Too boring and it's quite a commitment with no payoff.

Prison Break - Gave up on it early in season 3 when they were in the Sona(sp?) prison. I could'nt take much more of the prison stuff and the conspiracy nonsense.

My Name is Earl - Stopped caring last season. This was when I believe Earl went to jail or something? Too much of the same and I was watching a lot of tv. Decided to give up on it.

Pushing Daisies - I gave up when I found out they were going to cancel it. Actually, I never watched a season 2 episode because I had them saved up and then found out they were cancelling it.

Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

This season I gave up on......

Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles - I think going to a full season ruined it. The story was all over the place with filler crap.

Ugly Betty - It just got boring

Fringe - Repetitive lazily written crap with shitty characters(the Doctor not included).

Chuck - I still might come back to Chuck but I had 5 episodes taking up space on my DVR and I just couldnt bring myself to watch them for whatever reason. So I deleted them to make room. Like I said though I might pick Chuck up again if it gets another season.

Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

Surprisingly, Dexter. I'm going to give it another shot this summer, but the last season wasn't really doing it for me after a few episodes.

Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

Fringe - I lasted 4 episodes, they all sucked

Heroes - My god this show went bad

Earl - Still a good show, but I'm watching so many that I need to prioritize

Re: Recent TV Shows You’ve Given Up On.

Fringe and Heroes are the main ones. I figured I'd catch up w/ them once they are out on DVD (or I believe Heroes is on Netflix's watch now). However after reading some of these comments I think I'm not going to bother w/ Heroes. I'll still probably rent Fringe at some point.

I also stopped watching 24 but I know I'll get that box set once it comes out. It's really more a fact of I hate the delay between eps that got me to stop watching than anything else

I actually have caught two or three episodes that way, but it just doesn't work out as well for me as TV does.

I am definitely going to watch on DVD. I love the show, but I absolutely abhor CBS Sunday nights.

Like many others, I gave up on Heroes earlier this season. I think that season one was brilliant TV but the finale was weak. There were times into season one where I thought that Heroes was better than LOST. Now Heroes is a joke. So yes, watch season one. It starts off slowly but stick with it, I watched the first part of season one on HULU and it took me 3 weeks to watch 4 episodes and after that it took me all of one night to catch up on the rest. It really takes off, but again I thought the finale was a bit of a disappointment.

With baseball season underway I can only DVR one primetime show at a time on game nights. So I've recently cut out Two and a Half Men and Rules of Engagement (to keep 24) and My Name is Earl and Parks and Rec (to keep Survivor).

Other than that, I dropped Fringe after a few episodes but may pick up the DVD's this summer and give it another shot. I didn't hate it, but I don't know if I loved it enough to get back into it even with the positive reviews.

I also dropped Terminator halfway through season one. It was ok, but I just couldn't commit.

I finally cut myself free this season. It was quite liberating.

Also American Idol has been kicked to the curb.

Heroes finally made my list this year as well. It just got to the point where even making fun of it wasn't enjoyable any more.
