Yeah sorry I meant Craster, knew it did not look right when I typed it. I agree that he needs to be in there, but I was thinking that I could see some Hollywood/HBO schuck thinking it was not needed. I mean before the series I would have thought the Direwolves would be necessary, especially Ghost and Summer early on, but look at them.

Re: Game of Thrones, Season #1 - SPOILERS thread

Update on what GRRM is up too:

from GRRM

Here's the stuff I am dealing with right now:
-- reviewing pitch proposals and putting together the overplot for the new Wild Cards mosaic novel, LOWBALL,

-- writing the first draft of my script for episode nine of season two of the HBO series GAME OF THRONES, "Blackwater," and damn, but this one is a bitch of an adaptation, the original author made the damn battle way too big and too expensive,

-- working on a Nicholas van Rijn story for the Poul Anderson tribute anthology Gardner Dozois and Greg Bear are editing (an especially noisy monkey, since the deadline was today and the story is a long way from being done),

-- getting back into THE WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE, the long-promised concordance I am doing with Elio and Linda, which is almost three years late at this point, and needs to be finished and delivered by year's end,

-- roughing out the next Dunk and Egg novella, the next story in the queue after I finished the "Blackwater" script and the Poul Anderson story,

-- planning for a long summer of travel: the visit to Poland and Slovenia, the book tour, San Diego comicon, worldcon in Reno, Bubonicon, and maybe another trip overseas in the fall for the HBO show, depending,

-- working on a complete redesign of my website, much needed and long potsponed,

-- supervising and reviewing and approving materials for the games, the cards, the video games, the comic books, the replica swords, the miniatures, etc, etc.

I am exhausted just typing about it.

And behind all that, of course, lurks Son of Kong: the WINDS OF WINTER.

Why am I writing this damned post??? I need to get to WORK!
Anyone know what this World of Ice and Fire thing is?

Are you sure? I get the idea that it's to be a type of encyclopedia or who's who of characters, locations, etc.

That is what I thought it was..like a companion.

If HBO is smart..they would make a companion for sale.

Gorgeous. Would that be for the Dany storyline?

Yeah, a concordance is like a type of glossary usually. You, look up Littlefinger, and it tells you every chapter he's located in.

I hope this is a little more detailed. I'd be an atlas, with events marked, in a heartbeat.

Too pretty for Dragonstone, Dany is not by a sea/bay in 2, so I would guess King's Landing/Black Water.

I can't remember how her journey breaks down between book 2 and book 3, but doesn't she travel along the coast to several cities (Qarth, Slaver's Bay, and one or two other cities)? I may be mixed up and maybe they're not along the coast (though Slaver's Bay clearly is).

I'm currently starting my reread of book 2 (haven't gotten to any Dany chapters yet), so I'll have to pay special attention to whether she's by the sea. But that location looks so exotic that I didn't associate it with Westeros when I saw it.

Looks like a candidate for Dragonstone, or maybe the iron islands?

Yeah, Iron Islands would work there. Then again, that would be a great place to raise a chain and burn a bunch of ships.

Half way through my reread of book 3, Dany does not reach the sea until book 3, in 2 she is still inland.

I think Dany coming out of the fire with dragons all around her is going to be one of those epic cable moments of television. And Robb being crowned will be awesome as well.

I so can't wait for that..I hope they do it right.

If only they had spent any time on Robb as a character this season...

It's been a few years since I read the first few books, but Robb was never a POV character, right? I never felt I learned much about him in the books either. The Red Wedding will be something to see though.

It's strange how much time they've spent on Theon this season. I guess setting him up for his own "perspective" stories in later seasons.

Yeah, Robb really isn't in the novels that much. He's talked about more than he's actually seen doing things.

Yeah, he's not in the books that much either, but as Groucho pointed out, he's at least mentioned occasionally and is tangentially present in the Bran POV chapters. I suppose it's a necessary sacrifice for an adaptation since he's not actually doing much of anything important up at Winterfell while all the other crucial plot stuff is going on in book 1 (but then again, neither is Theon). But I've been watching the series with a non-reader friend who said, "wait, who is that?" when Robb made a brief reappearance last week in the forest scene.

great point, the crowning would have had a much more emotional pull, if we had more time with Robb..instead we have all this extra time with Theon. Confused. Maybe they didn't want to take away from the dragons with the crowning

Which book has the red wedding? That will be one of the best threads to follow.

Book 3, so there's no guarantee yet that we'll get to see it adapted.

And if book 3 is broken up into 2 seasons, which has been rumored, it wouldn't happen until season 4
