Melsandre:

[MELISANDRE] Age: 25-35. A red priestess from Asshai, a mysterious region in the far east, Melisandre is an influential counselor (and eventual lover) of Stannis Baratheon. She possesses prophetic powers and controls dark forces. Melisandre is highly sensual and seductive and well aware of her sexual command over men. She means to impose her religion on the world by all means necessary. She is extremely dangerous to any who dare stand in her way. Recurring. (Season Two: 5-6 episodes/Season Appearances: Multiple Seasons) *Nudity required*

Re: Game of Thrones, Season #1 - SPOILERS thread

Ned's moral stance against killing her and her unborn child further cements his role as the hero of this story. Ned's obviously not opposed to killing, but he's clearly a better man than King Robert and the rest of the royal consul

Re: Game of Thrones, Season #1 - SPOILERS thread

Review of the last episode is up on http://podcastoficeandfire.com/

Haven't listened to it yet, but I've been enjoying some of their recaps.

Edit: I just listened to it, and they brought in a guest that really ruins the flow of it for me.

light Spoilers about ADWD (Who doesn't get a POV.)

Also the book was so large..he had to cut some of it and move it to winds of winter..

First, my editors and I made some decisions as to where to end this book which involved shifting a few chapters back into the next volume, THE WINDS OF WINTER

Re: Game of Thrones, Season #1 - SPOILERS thread

ADWD POV spoilers (Technical spoilers, no story spoilers), and some other tidbits below:

Spoiler:
Daenerys Targaryen
Jon Snow
Tyrion Lannister
Davos Seaworth
Bran Stark
Arya Stark
Asha Greyjoy, aka 'The Wayward Bride'
Theon Greyjoy, aka 'Reek'
Victarion Greyjoy
Quentyn Martell, aka 'The Merchant's Man'
Barristan Selmy
Melisandre of Asshai
Arianne Martell [no longer a POV]
Varamyr Sixskins (prologue POV)
An as-yet unidentified new POV
An as-yet unidentified epilogue POV
Cersei Lannister and an as-yet unknown number of other Feast for Crows POV characters appearing in the second half of the book.

Theon is clearly the POV Martin mentions as not being seen in the last couple books. The new POVs: Quentyn Martell, Barristan Selmy, Melisandre, and someone else. Osha is a strong candidate, as is John Connington (Aerys former Hand, and friend to Rhaegar, now in exile). There's a lot of discussion on the Westeros forums as to whether the Old Griff mentioned in the sample chapters is actually Connington. I feel Osha is a strong candidate given Martin's comments that he expanded her role after seeing Natalia Tena portray her in the GoT auditions.

Also I could have sworn I read somewhere that Areo Hotah would have a POV or chapter

I remember getting halfway through ASOS and thinking "man can't wait to get the next Bran chapter and see who Coldhands is!" Then I got to the end of the book and there were no Bran chapters heh. He doesn't have many in ASOS but I'm confident we'll at least get Coldhands' identity revealed, or at least a damn good clue.

But in terms of plot points I'm most interested in seeing resolved, I have to go with the Robb heir situation. The Westeros forum is basically JonSnowFans.com, and they've been taking for granted that Jon is the heir for a decade. I doubt that, as Robb's decree was made "off camera."

Like: Jon, Dany, Theon, Bran, Arya, Tryion POVs

It was a couple years back, but it's just a small comic/fantasy convention called Valleycon (The Fargo Enterainment Expo), not a GOT con.

I don't really have a good suggestion. I always pictured Mel as looking like Melinda Clarke but she is American so she'd have pretty much no shot at it anyway.

SWEETING TAPPING DANCE CHRIST!! This is what he said about AFOC and ADWD. This better not be another 6 year hiatus between books.

OK, so help an old man with poor memory. Did they lay on the Theon is an jerk-face stuff so heavily in the books?

Oh that's right, I guess I don't know why I felt like it was more of a surprise when he turns on the Starks.

Re: Game of Thrones, Season #1 - SPOILERS thread

I barely remembered Theon from the first book, so it was a surprise when he was a POV character in the second.

Re: Game of Thrones, Season #1 - SPOILERS thread

I just finished the first book and he seemed more like Robert, brash and impulsive, a smartass, not so much of an asshole. But the 2nd book he is a complete ass.

lol...maybe that's why she's getting so much screen time; to prepare us for their rise to power in ADWD.
