sorry for the dumb question. does it show that I never do online gaming? so if I get a wireless router there is nothing else I need to do or get? by the smilies I'm assuming that once I get that the psp will automatically get online with no changes to anything else at all? no configuration at all?
also, could I have any potential problems from using 2 routers in-line?

Get a wireless router that has extra network ports, and you can replace your old router without having to buy wireless cards for all your existing computers.
You will need to do some configuration of the router (mostly to ensure security), and once you do that, it's pretty simple to setup the PSP. You just need to find your wireless SSID, and enable the WEP key if you have encryption set.

Sorry if this has been noted already I didn't see it yet..
Looks like I was right, in that Sony is going to simply say a small number of pixels is to be expected with the lcd creation process... Although it looks like you can possibly get it replaced under warranty, but good luck with that I say.. Sending your unit in, and having them agree it's a problem is a different story..

I'm really wanting one of these, but will stick it out and see if the price drops or they clear up some of the manufactoring problems.

The loophole in Sony's response is definitely the "determined to be defective" by Sony part. Since they claim in their manual that a certain number of dead pixels is not a problem, even if you send it into them they could claim that there's nothing wrong with it. I'm really surprised I didn't hear about many complaints from the Japanese launch, though maybe I just wasn't paying attention (or maybe the square button defect was more prevelant)
While I see the pixel thing as being a legit problem, I'm amazed at all these people saying that it was a failed launch. Failed launch? Because people could actually find it in stores? I know that living on the West Coast and especially in the LA area, there's more demand for hi-tech stuff here, but even if it takes a couple of weeks to sell out, isn't that still amazing? It's almost like people would have preferred Sony to distribute less. I mean, people complain that Sony does these shortages to create demand, but when they actually make enough to sit on shelves, it's called a failure? I just don't get it...
Sure it's expensive, but it's still much less (even with bundle) than early predictions stated (i think somewhere around 400 bucks). The bundle thing was pure (evil) genius on their part, too, bundling together stuff that cost them pennies to make and distributing them with the system so they don't bleed money with every sale.

I don't think most people are saying it was a failed launch just because a few are still in stores. If have asked around at retail stores, and almost all of them have told me that they sold far fewer systems than what they predicted. I don't know if it's like that everywhere, but I know for a fact that it is like that in many places in the US.
Not only that, but there have been widespread problems with many of the systems. Not just the dead pixels (which, to me, if someone forks over $250+ then if there is as few as ONE dead pixel, it should be able to be exchanged), but also problems with a good amount of dust under the screen, some shipping without the battery, and various other problems here and there.
I don't know what went wrong, but somewhere, something or someone did screw up.
The system has still sold a great number, so it's not a failed launch in that respect. More so how Sony handled the process.

I ordered a Martin Fields overlay from www.overlayplus.com and couldn't recommend it any more highly. Fast ship time (ordered Friday, received today) and awesome product.
I like this one because you can remove it, wash it, and re-use it. Plus, it's crystal clear. I was concerned that it might mess up the screen, but as soon as I fired it up I couldn't even see the thing.
It's the must-have accessory. Especially since the screen is so easy to scratch.

I've never done it, but you should be fine with 2 routers.
I'm curious about the antenna on the PSP too. Once I got wireless configured it found a neighbor's Linksys router that has never shown up on my TabletPC's wireless config. Maybe my Tablet just has a crappy antenna.

Picked up my system today at Best Buy with Twisted Metal and Wipeout. They had about 20 systems on the display. I had to go to Wal Mart to get Ridge Racer. Ill probably pick up Metal Gear or Luimines later in the week.

Cool game overall, but the difficulty level is a bitch. This is really a game aimed for puzzle experts. I'm just too casual a puzzle gamer to really get the full fun out of the game. I hate the fact you have to play through the same levels over and over till you finally unlock a new skin. They should definitely shuffle them up so you don't have to be replay the same stuff for hours to see something new. You have to get to level 100 to unlock all the skins and I have yet to break level 22 after hours of playing. The VS mode suffers from this also. You have to start from the beginining every time through. Once I clear a character I want to skip him the next time. It justs takes too long to unlock anything in this game after the first 8 or 9 easy skins to get.
There is just too much repeat of the same shit over and over. This game is loaded with cool skins and music, but most people that buy the game will never experience more than a few of them. Bad game design in my opinion. That kind of stuff might work in Japan where people will play a game like this for days straight to master it, but I'm just looking for something to play for 10 or 15 minutes every once in awhile. Shuffling the levels up would not be too much to ask for IMO.
I'm definitely leaning towards trading this one back in for something else.

Give it some time. It may seem hard now but its because you're new to it. When I first started out, I was getting 20k. My g/f struggled to get that and she's not much of a gamer. Now almost four months later, she's kicking my ass at the game and getting almost 600k whle I'm trying to hit the 400k barrier. We used to think getting 100k would be impossible, but now we can see that eventually we will be able to max out the score at 999,999. The more you play this game, the better you get. You will see steady improvements the more you play which is part of the rewarding aspect of the game design. I've seen other people play and watch them get better. Once you start scoring at a certain level, rarely do you ever go back. You just continue to score at that level because you've gotten better. It's happened in a wide range of players.
Lumines is not a hard game at all. It's quite simple, but mastering will just take some practice. The more you play, the more you will see how blocks fit better together. You may even start just visuallizing it when you're not playing and learn that way. Give the game some time and you will see that unlocking all the skins isn't so hard as you think, and pretty soon you'll get to the point where the skins restart for a second play through of them. Pretty soon, you'll look back and wonder why you thought it was so tough to score a simple 20k to 30k when you can get that within the first skin now.

Thanks for the advice as well it is a rewarding game and worth getting beyond some of the early frustrations.

I think the thing about lumines, for those who haven't played it, that makes it so special is this: When you get somewhat competent at it, and can play for more than 5 minutes, and really start to advance in the levels... the game seriously puts you into some kind of trance. You get so focused on these little blocks, and the trippy music and visuals just almost gives you this out of body type experience. When the blocks stack up towards the top of the screen, I start to feel this type of panic I haven't felt playing a game in a long time. And then when the game is finally over, and I start to notice my surroundings again, I feel this immense letdown.

I totally agree that it seems impossible the first few hours you play it, but next thing you know you can keep it going longer and longer. I'm pretty sure at this point I can unlock most of the skins myself. The X2, level 100 and 999,999 ones may not happen for a long time, but I think I can get most of the others unlocked. Defintely an awesome puzzle game.

The puzzle mode helped me out quite a bit when I got to the all clear one. That one gave me so much trouble, but it helped me understand how to try and manipulate the blocks to keep the board as clean as possible. That stage was invaluable, but heh I can't pass the x2 version of that.
Here's another tip if you havne't figured it out. An all clear will get you 10,000 and clearing all of one color is 1,000 points.

Anyone here try iPSP? It costs 20 bucks, and I know that you can get most of the encoding software it contains for free, but I don't mind paying for an easier interface. Plus, managing those video files can be a chore since you can't really rename the files themselves...
